Management Buyout Mark III Facts and Background
After the Minbari Engagements (that is, Allanea's part of the GFFA-ESUS war) the need arose to renovate the United States Stellar Navy. The first design to come out of Allanean Arms' fleetyards under this directive is the Management Buyout Mark III, inspired vaguely by the ZMI Management Buyout Mark II and more directly by the Management Buyout Mark I Mod B in service of the Allanean military.
The Management Buyout Mark II is an immense beast of burden, designed to provide the United States Stellar Navy with a fleet carrier of a totally new scale, carrying thousands of infantry and fighter drones, and taking ten thousand Space Marines to battle. Moreover, it has an immense array of weaponry, being more then capable to exterminate the entire population of a solar system while parked safely in the Kuiper Belt.
The below is a description of it's various features and armaments, in no particular order.
Main Cannon
Without doubt, the main feature of the Management Buyout is it's rapid-fire spinal variable cannon. While it is in theory capable of firing yields up to 12 gigatons at a time, this would require atrocious recharge time, so usually the Allaneans prefer to fire lower-yield blasts from this weapon, in exchange for a higher rate of fire.
The actual main body of the canon runs through the horizontal axis of the ship (it's 'core'), on the junction of Deck 453-B and 532-G. It's 3 meters wide at it's muzzle. At it's base are 8 CF-20 PowerPlants, which are separate from the plants powering the engines of the Management Buyout. Firing the so-called Armageddon Cannon is a duty that is considered a honor in Allanea, same as firing the 300mm Deforestator/Hellbore cannon aboard the vessels.
Hell Batteries
The Hell Batteries are arrays of 30 300mm Deforestator II dualmode railgun-hellbore gattling cannon, one based dorsally, one ventrally. Again, the position of the Hell Gunner is an honorable one in the United States Navy. The main use for these batteries is planetary bombardment, but use has also been proposed against heavy enemy battleships. The actual Hell Gunners are not sitting in the Hell Battery turrets, but instead somewhere deep inside the well-protected battleship.
Plasma Cannon Arrays
Then there's the humble plasgun, the workhose of many a military out there. The immense battleship has approximately 7,000 of these cannon, spread out evenly on it's hull. These are subdivided into 4,000 medium and 1,200 heavy plasma cannon, controlled either by AI systems or by human gunners perched safely deep within the hull – so you could disable all of these weapons without actually injuring the gunners.
Missile Tubes
The ship is in posession of 32,000 missile tubes of varying calibers, from 200mm to 3,500mm, capable of firing everything from drone pods, to kinetic kill missiles, to planet-killing Miriel nos Feanor strategic missiles.
Defenses:
Apart from the obvious (real thick armour), the ship is also defended with three levels of shielding – a Facehuggerian Accumulator Shield system, an Allanean Universal Shield System, and a Deflector Shield System. Internally, shielding is also used to protect personnel from the effects of certain system (see later on).
A wide array of CIWS lasers, machineguns, plasguns is mounted all over the ship, to defend against missiles, fightercraft, and kinetic kill vehicles.
Loudspeakers
For intra-athmospheric work, an array of high-power loudspeakers are interspersed throughout the ship. Suffice it to be said that these loudspeakers are powerful enough for the crew to need special shielding when utilising these.
Fighter Complement
The ship is in possession of 25,000 ordinary Ann Coulter Mark XII drone fighter-bombers, and 20 of similar craft in piloted configuration for personnel travel. It also has in it's posession 1,000 Gravitic Assault Deer and 1,000 personnel shuttles. Moreover, approximately 100,000 Miniature Combat Drones are present aboard.
Further, an automated manufacturing facility is present aboard to repair and replace lost drones.
Of interest is also the complement of 2,000 Hughie Mark II frigate craft aboard the vessel.
Ground Forces Deployment
The main purpose of the ship is ground forces deployment. It holds a complement of combat drones, designed by our various foreign subcontractors. The main brunt of the force is 1,000,000 infantry drones, folded to their minimum space requirements inside Allanean Arms Containment Pods (1 cubic meter per drone). The pods are designed to be dropped onto the surface of the planet via the Drone Deployment Tubes (essentially as living ortillery). It is also possible to fire these drone pods through the missile launch tubes on the craft.
Apart from the infantry drones, the ship also carries 20,000 different robotic vehicles, from Hammerhead-D (Drone) tanks, down the ubiquitous Flying Buzzsaw anti-infantry vehicle. Further, six Mobile Gaming Servers/Agricultural development Machines are present aboard each craft, and 10,000 Space Marines and their equivalent.
On the other hand, the ship is also in possession of approximately 10,000,000 mini-drones for various nefarious uses. Further, an automated manufacturing facility is present aboard to repair and replace lost drones.
Four Allanean Arms Athlas freighters are docked inside the ship for ease of ground deployment. It is further equipped with teleportation devices, however these are not sufficient for transporting anything more then symbolic away teams.
Life Aboard the Battleship
It is to be noted that life aboard the battleship is not in any way spartan or frugal. Because of the high level of automatisation aboard the craft, there is only 35,000 crew aboard this ship, not counting the Space Marine complement. They all live, of course, in what would be considered immense luxury back in the 1940's Old American Navy.
However, discipline is notoriously lax aboard these craft – off-duty personnel often engage in parties better described as 'orgies' aboard these craft.
Every Management Buyout Mark III Battleship is internally designed around a theme randomly chosen by the crew and captain. One would have it's on-duty personnel dress like characters in E.R., another would have everybody on duty walk about in assless fursuits – and the paint jobs and so forth inside the ship are designed accordingly. This is because Allanean crews (on all manned crafT) are awarded annual awards on 'most original ship design'.
Since off-duty uniform wear is not mandatory aboard the craft, visit to a Buyout could equal a step into madness for an unprepared foreigner.
