ABR-666

In the grim darkness of space, on the cold snows of Mars, there is war.

Allanea fights with drones, with starships, with bombs and ortillery.

But sometimes, it is still necessary to haul out the mightiest weapon of all.

A few good men.

And these good men, in space as they did on land, require good rifles.

Such a rifle precisely is the ABR-666 – Allanean Battle Rifle, Mark 666. It is hefty device, designed for use with the powered armor the Marine Corps deploys in – even though it is possible for an unaugmented human being to use it.

Weighing in at 12.5 kilograms, the ABR-666 is a multi-barrel setup – as a matter of fact, composed of several weapons, each deadly on it’s own. They are controlled from a single trigger set-up, and a simple control panel on the side. Alternatively, powered-armor users and cybernetically augmented users may find it simpler to just plug into the rifle and control it’s functions that way.

The following barrel set-ups exist on the ABR-666 rifle:

5.56mm rifle/micromissile launcher – the first weapon system of the ABR-666 rifle is unique in its purpose and function. First of all, it functions as a kinetic weapon system, firing the regular M16 cartridge (however, the round is further electrically accelerated). Second, more interestingly, it fires the Greater Prussian Standard 5.56mm rifle-launched micro-missile/cartridge system. These missiles can also be guided from the rifle’s cybernetic nervous uplink or from a powered armor system.

ERASER – the second system is an ERASER rifle, feeding from a 200-shot box magazine in the buttstock of the firearm, inserting similarly to the 5.56mm magazine. This is the most commonly-used barrel of the ABR-666, and cycles through a variety of beam modes from LASER to XASER to a variety of focused radio waves for communication and signaling.

Plasgun – plasma gun, similar to the plasguns used by the Aelosian eldar, fed by a horizontal magazine installed in the buttstock (magazine capacity is 500 shots on the minimal power setting).

Plasma Igniter – plasma flamethrower, fed from yet another plasgun magazine installed in the firearm, sufficient for 60 second of continuous fire. It is notable that the range of this particular weapon is limited to a mere 50 meters, relegating it essentially to become a close-combat device.

[u]Note that the power armor suit can double up as a direct power supply to the energy weapons, endowing the user with (in effect) an infinite ammunition magazine).

UBGL – the underbarrel grenade launcher is a small device, only 20mm in caliber. However, it is semi-automatic and carries 3 grenades via a method similar to the ancient Metal Storm technologies. This is commonly used to launch nonlethal polymer nets to apprehend suspects.

Furthermore, the rifle is endowed with the ‘Crockett6’ Advanced Digital Imaging and Targeting Suit – i.e., a built in targeting scope and ballistic calculator, to enable control of the missiles and general aiming. The scope (or rather, a high-quality, full-spectrum digital camera) enables up to twenty-five-degree magnification of the target.

However, if the consumer elects to mount another scope, the ABR666 is covered from every available angle with Picattiny rails, old-style. It is thus able to mount the Allanean Bayonet-Knife, Mark One, and the Standard Tactical Assault Thermos (STAT) used by the Allanean Army.

Rumours that the military version of the ABR666 is also going to be programmed with a self-destruct ‘red button’ combination are so far steadfastly denied by representatives of the USSN.
