Well, I have just finished watching this series, and well I was blown away, a truely astounding piece of work, created by Yasuhiro Nightow, who also wrote trigun, is a must or any fan of gunplay.
Taken from Anime News Network:
This is not a happy show, nor is it a show that truly slows down, it keeps up a tight pace of revelation and emotion will still managing to take time to sit down and consider everything that’s going on around it. Also, in a show where the ending to a certain degree is inevitable, Gungrave paves the road to it with strife and struggle, and you likely won’t feel the same way about it at the end then you thought you would. Gungrave is by no means perfect, there are flaws in some of the narrative and logical character development, and the animation is fairly low-rent, but it's truly a story worth living through.
And while its unknown if series creator Yasuhiro Nightow will give Gungrave the same manga treatment Trigun is presently receiving, what you’re given with Gungrave is truly superior material.
Its definately worth a watch for all anime fans, and I'm not ashamed to say the last episode made me blub for the first time since Grave of the Fireflies...
