But but but..., Miss Daisy???

Krathar's mouth opened, but no sound came out. The formation of 'Abb' could easily be deciphered from his silent moving lips and mouth but no vocal chords where activated.
After a few tries, Krathar gave up.

'Abb.. Abbi... Abbi... can't... no... Abb... must.. no... Abbi... Ab... Abbb....... CAN'T!'

Krathar's look seemed a little disappointed as he lowered his head a little; perhaps out of shame.

Abi sighed. He really should have been used to people abbreviating his name by now, but each time it happened it still got to him.

He grinned and bore it, though. No need to blame the kid.

Yet there was nothing to bear. The kid hadn't spoken. Still.

"So, do you talk at all?"

"Well..." Eurika said.

"I'm going. I still have some business to take care of..."

She waved at them and left.

Krathar seemed awefully startled at Abi's question and looked around for a good excuse to focuss his attention on something else.
He found one in Miss Daisy.

The moment she left the door he looked at Celes and Abi and pointed at the doorway to which he started to slowly shuffle.
You couldn't really tell if his face was blushing or if it displayed other signs of emotions but for a fact parts of Krathar's face were slowly turning bright-red.

'Can't... I can't... I CAN"T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shouldn't!!!!! Daddy will... daddy will hit... NO!... daddy is... NO!.. Musn't!... I'll be late... I'll mess up.. I always do... he says I allways do... I should.. should... shut up.. I should shut up!... I HAVE TO ALLWAYS SHUT UP!... mommy isn't here.. she ain't helping... NO!... she will be... musn't... NOOO!!!!'

Abi sighed as he watched the beetroot Krathar gesture to the door.

"If I'd known that I'd have to interpret Lassie when I came to this island..."

His voice trailed off as he realised that Krathar was trying to tell him something important. Maybe he should go with him...

Abi looked back to Celes and her bird, abruptly left alone by the departing Eurika. If the doc' new what she was doing (and he certainly hoped she did) then she should be fine.

"I'm going to follow Mister Krathar here," he announced, "so I'll catch up with you later. Unless you want to come with..?"

Celes looked at Abi for a moment, torn.

"Well.. it is either I say here and be bored, or I go out there and probrably hurt myself even more."

She stared blankly around the room.

'You're not-' Nal began.

"Oh hells." Celes hopped off of her bed and grabbed the walking stick. "Let's go."

"Cool."

Abi watched her take the first few uncertain steps, ready to step in should she stumble, and then addressed Krathar once more.

"Lead on."

Krathar began to walk out an soon founds himself walking towards the Lunch hall once more.
After a short while he seemd to be completely distracted again, stopping every now and then to look at shiny items or whatever pretty had caught his eyes.
He also seemed to have forgotten about Abi and Celes despite the fact that they must have been close behind him.

'Looky there... oooh... now I ... hehe... I smell food!'

The scent of the next shipment of warm breakfast had caught Krathar's nostrils as he suddenly looked up and made more haste than he had before.
All logic in terms of his behaviour was lost once more.
