Entrance Hall
The entrance hall is, quite possibly, the most spectacular room in the academy. Its high-arched ceiling is normally the first thing most people notice upon entering. Not only is it extraordinarily high, but it is also decorated with four enormous murals, each a representation of one of the four Cauldwell houses. A large display is settled in the center of the hall, where various maps, pictures, and other information about the school can be found. To the side of the display is a large notice board, where various announcements, reminders, and advertisements are posted by both staff and students alike. Various statues and paintings decorate the walls of this room, which add to the overall grand and exquisite style of the hall.

Dining Hall
Aside from dining purposes, the owl post is also delivered to the Dining Hall during breakfast hours. Other than that, however, not much happens in this room. It is, nevertheless, one of the many marvelous rooms in the castle, and seems to be much larger inside than out. The floors are of ivory colored marble, and the walls are decorated with innumerous portraits and statues. The hall is furnished with eight long tables; one is for the teachers, which is situated along the back wall, overlooking the others which are allocated to each of the four houses. These four tables have been lengthened to host some of the many transfer students living at the school. The other three tables -- two parallel to the four house tables, one perpendicular and at the front -- have been placed for extra seating for the rest of the transfers. All of the tables are garnished with white table cloths and have wooden bench seating. In addition, the tableware is also magnificent: white china with blue emblems in the center, and glass goblets designed to look like crystal.

Ballroom
The ballroom was once a common place for friends to gather and socialize, but now it's being used to house well over a hundred transfer students. On one side there are seven tents -- two belonging to Cauldwell's Quodpot team, two to Beaumont's, two to Midlands', and one a donation -- that can hold up to fifteen people each. The rest of the dance floor has approximately thirty cots scattered across it in groups, all of which are being used to sleep in. Ten more cots can be found on the balcony level, with the tables moved aside.

Choir Room
Although smaller than a classroom, the choir room is still nonetheless functional. The wooden risers, which take up an entire side of the room, are the first visible thing upon entering. To the side of the door you'll find a large piano, often moved to the middle of the room for choral practice, accompanied by a small table supporting a record player. Inside the oversized closet you can find a wide variety of instruments, including the few instruments students decide to store there. Although the room is only used for choir practice in the afternoons, it is not unusual to hear the soft sound of music playing from behind its door. Whether it be early in the morning, between classes, or right before practice, there is often someone inside taking advantage of the music-induced space.

Library
The library is quaint and cozy, with cathedral styled arched ceilings, brilliant wooden flooring and wainscoted walls, the top half painted lightly with white and the bottom half paneled with wood. The tables come with comfortable wooden chairs upholstered with dark blue leather seat coverings and small oil lamps in the center, which are charmed to glow brighter than usual. The forbidden section of the library is in a separate room towards the back. The librarian appears to be almost like a guard when she sits at her desk, which is situated in front of the door leading to it. All of the stacks are clearly labeled and there is a reading area nearby that provides plush chairs and couches for the students.

Classrooms Classroom decor does vary, depending on the subjects and the teachers teaching them. The walls are all wainscoted in mahogany and white, and the matching desks are all made of the same kind of wood. The desks are normally in neat rows, but once in a while a teacher may decide on a different arrangement. The teachers' desks are, by default, at the front of the class, where the teachers can monitor their students' progress from afar. The four extra classrooms are currently being used for storage, but some students can usually find more creative uses for them.

Hallways
The various hallways within Cauldwell aren't very decorated, save for the occasional paintings or statues that can be found here and there. The walls are wainscoted, the upper half painted in a soft white color and the lower half paneled with mahogany. Some of the more open areas have comfortable wooden benches, which are almost always used between classes.

The Atriums
Although they're convenient to have, the atriums do not have much purpose. They are most often used as areas to socialize between classes, but on occassion they're used as common meeting places between friends (or enemies). There are two atriums: the lower atrium and the third floor atrium. The lower atrium is used much more often than the other, seeing as most of the classes are held on that floor, but the third floor atrium has had its fair share of uses, too. Both are furnished with numerous amounts of plants, benches, and chairs, and there is a large fountain in the center of each.

Teacher's Lounge
Teachers can easily achieve peace in their lounge, as it is found on the third floor, far from all the chaos of the school. It is complete with ample amount of furniture to kick back in and avoid the hectic world that is the classes. This is where most of the socializing between the teachers occurs, and it is also where most staff meetings are held.

Trophy Room
What the trophy room lacks in width, it makes it up in length. It's actually a rather long room, spanning an entire corner of the second floor hallway. It's walls are aligned with shelves and showcases, exhibiting the many awards and trophies that Cauldwell has won in the past. The floors are fashioned from a hearty brown wood, which matches the paneling on the walls. There are ten cots in this room: five on one side, and five on the other.

The Owlery
The Owlery is quite large; however, that is not alarming considering the amount of owls it needs to accommodate. The school owls come in every breed and are available to any student without their own. Towards the back, there are numerous shelves fastened to the walls that provide an assortment of owl treats that can be used to coax a stubborn owl to leave its perch.

The Lobby
The lobby of the residence hall is nowhere near as extravagant as the entrance hall of the main school building. However, it's still a popular place to socialize with friends from other houses before curfew strikes the clock. There is a large assortment of cafe-style tables and chairs located in various areas of the room, with a fair amount of comfortable couches and benches to kick back in. The lobby is made up of two floors, the upper floor made up of terrace-like structures where residents can easily oversee what's happening on the first floor. Five large doors lead to the different common areas for both students and staff alike, and each are charmed to only allow certain people in.

Dormitories
Each student dormitory is shared with up to four other people. The rooms are rectangular and spacious, and leave a lot of room for personal posessions. A bed is situated alongside every wall, accompanied by an armoire and a small nightstand for each student that lives there. Furniture can be moved, and decorations are encouraged, as long as the students don't go overboard with their ideas. As for staff dormitories, each member gets their own bedroom, fully furnished with an armoire, a desk, a couch, a nightstand, and a four-poster bed. Every bedroom comes with its own bathroom, even though they're all quite cramped, but so far there have been no major complaints.

House Commons
House commons don't differentiate very much in the ways of space and furniture; the only major difference would be the implementation of each house's official colors. A wide open space will greet you at the door, furnished with plush chairs and couches, some of which have been situated around the fireplace, for easy access to the flames when the weather gets cold. Although the floors are wooden in places, they're also carpeted in others as an added comfort to residents who like to walk barefoot around the commonroom. Hallways and staircases will take you to the dorms, but we wary; charms prevent the sexes from entering each other's rooms.

Staff Commons
The staff commons might be small, but it's still pretty darn cozy. An ample amount of sofas and chairs are scattered around the main room, a cluster situated around the cast iron heater doubling as a fireplace. To one side of the commons there is a place full of cafe-style tables and chairs, meant to be used for extra desk space, if needed. All the staff dorms can be found down one long, dimly-lit hallway, where the headmaster is positioned at the very end.

The Grounds
The grounds are vast, and there are many places to hang around. During appropriate weather, students are often seen standing under trees, sitting by the fountain, or simply taking a stroll across the back hill, which serves a view of the lake and the woods beyond. Statues, bushes, and flowers make up the decor, so there is always something pleasant to look at while outside.

Greenhouses
On the edge of the gardens you will find the greenhouses, where many different kinds of exotic plants, trees, and fungi are settled comfortably within. The four greenhouses and the Herbology classroom are adjacent to each other, the classroom being situated on the far right side. The outside of the classroom is built to look like a small cottage, but the interior is just like any other classroom: brown and white, with wainscoted walls, wooden desks, and wood flooring. There is a large doorway on one side of the room that leads to the inside of the greenhouses, but it is usually covered with a tapestry to prevent wandering eyes while the students are doing their written work.

The Gardens
At first, the garden was nothing but a short stretch of flowers planted in front of the greenhouses. Nowadays it has almost tripled in size. Most of the garden is comprised of flowers, but there are a few small sections dedicated to bushes and grasses. During late spring, summer, and early fall, the flowers are in bloom; during winter, the garden is degraded to nothing but a mass of dead and decomposing plants. It was originally planted in the honor of Baran Cauldwell's death, and ever since additions have been planted to honor the deaths of staff members and pre-graduate students.

The Hospital The hospital is not actually located inside of the school; instead, it is a separate building within the grounds. It is solely for those sick enough that an overnight stay is required. The hospital has two stories. The second floor, originally the oversized storage area for medical supplies, is the sleeping area for the Aurors protecting Cauldwell, and the first is the quarters for the patients. One half of the hospital is sectioned off with a screen, giving privacy to those with more serious conditions.

Astronomy Deck There is one section of the walkway to the residence hall that is fairly wide in comparison to the rest. This is the Astronomy deck, where outdoor Astronomy classes are held. Students are required to bring their own telescopes, but there is a large telescope positioned on one side of the deck. However, it's off-limits unless you have permission from an Astronomy teacher.

Quodpot Stadium The Quodpot stadium is located some distance away from the school. It is just like any other Quodpot stadium. The spectators watch from the stands that surround the field. Most fans of the game stand, but some choose to sit on the bench-like seats, which elevate the farther you go back. There are two large cauldrons, or pots, at each end of the field, both situated approximately fifty feet in the air and supported by poles. During games, boundaries are defined by glowing lines suspended in the air. Quodpot games are rather exciting and can be enjoyable to play and/or watch.

The Lake
Located a good distance behind the school building, the lake is popular with Cauldwell students. It's a rather large lake, in both length and depth. The water is almost always still, its reflection usually filled with an image of the academy. Teenagers are often seen hanging around the shore, eating their lunches, socializing, playing games, and whatever else when the weather is permitting. Unlike the pond, swimming is allowed here, as long as the swimsuits are reasonable and discreet.

The Clearing Just on the edge of the pond lies the clearing, where Magical Creatures classes are typically held. It can best be explained as a fairly large, barren area, with a short stone wall outlining the sides. It's normally pretty shady, considering that it is surrounded by trees. All kinds of creatures are brought here to be studied, but take caution: some creatures aren't all that friendly.

The Pond
Although the lake beats the pond in both popularity and size, it is still a sight worth seeing. During the summer months the pond is covered in lilypads, and in the winter it's used for ice skating. Students are forbidden to swim in it, for various reasons. For starters, it is a home to creatures such as snakes and leeches, and in many places the bottom is littered with sharp rocks. Creatures are placed here for class study without warning -- another reason why one should not swim here. A red brick bridge was built over the water many years ago, and it leads straight to the clearing.

The Woods It would not be wise (or legal, for that matter) for students to enter the forest in the grounds of Cauldwell, as it is the home to many dangerous creatures. Simply put, the deeper the woods, the less safe it is. Although it's not uncommon to see students lurking amongst the trees, the woods are heavily guarded by Aurors. Anyone caught sneaking around will automatically be placed in detention, for security purposes, and for the safety of everyone that lives there.
