There are four Cauldwell houses -- Aquila, Vulpecula, Columba, and Delphinus. At the start of each school year, freshmen students are sorted at the station in Stanhope after the train ride. When a student's name is called, a crystal shard is placed in their hand, which glows either silvery-white, bright gold, light blue, or pale ivory, depending on which house it decided they should be sorted into. Once all the students have been sorted they are taken up the mountain in a trolley; upon entering the school, they are escorted to the Dining Hall, where their house name is announced so they may enter and sit with their new housemates.
Aquila Color: Gold Mascot: Eagle Aquilas are famous for their bravery and courage, which can be defined in many different ways. Many members of this house have the tendency to be daredevils and adventure seekers; they're not afraid to go to extremes, which may be a reason why many troublemakers are often from this house. Aquilas have been known to be fiercely loyal to their loved ones and would go to extreme lengths to protect them.
Vulpecula Color: Silver Mascot: Fox Cunning and clever, Vulpeculas are known for their ability to always come out on top. They like having their way and aren't afraid to let others know it. Vulpeculas are often ambitious, strong-willed, and determined to reach their goals. They don't like to meddle in things that will pull them down, or hold them back; it's just a waste of time. Strength comes in numbers here, but that doesn't mean that Vulpeculas can't fend for themselves.
Columba Color: Light Blue Mascot: Dove Columbas are trustworthy, honest, and fair. Like Aquilas, they are fiercely loyal to their friends and family and would never abandon them without good reason. They are calm and patient and know how to keep a cool head in a crisis. Careful and cautious, they know that slow and steady wins the race and are usually in no hurry to reach their goals. Columbas are hard-working and determined and work well in groups.
Delphinus Color: Ivory Mascot: Dolphin Wisdom and intelligence are words often used to describe the Delphinus house. Delphinuses, or Delphins as they are commonly called, are eager to learn and can be quite the curious types. They are not afraid of change; in fact, most Delphins are very open to it. They are rather independent and can get along fine on their own. However, that isn't to say that all Delphins prefer to work by themselves.
