I was trying to think of a cool name. And randomly the thought of an 'orchard' came into mind. And I thought that was a silly name for a nation, but then I just changed a few letters and got Archid

I wanted to call it Esperantia, but that was taken, so I reversed the Spanish word hablabamos (meaning "we used to speak/talk") and there it was: Somabalbah. I chose hablabamos because its funny sound made it a running joke in my Spanish class last year, especially with me and a few other people.

That's interesting. I always though 'Somabalbah' sounder sort of African. How I got the name Alstitua is basically the same as Archid, the word in my case was 'constituent'. My other four nations' names and their origins:
Paradica - Comes from paradise. Duh. Wahei Kuni - Japanese for Peace Country. The Great Holy Dragon - Kind of self-explanitory. The City of Ravnica - A place in Magic: the Gathering.

Good good, this should be interesting to find out the inspiration of people's names.
Okay, here goes:
The Derris Kharlan: an asteroid called "Derris-Kharlan" from the Gamecube game Tales of Symphonia. Derris-Kharlan is where the elves came from in the game, but eventually evolved half-elves called lifeless beings took over and lived on the asteroid instead.
Yellow Pepperland: this was a blend of the words "Yellow Submarine" and "Pepperland." I'm sure you all know what the Yellow Submarine is (for those of you who live in caves, it's a Beatles album and is also a Beatles movie). In the movie, the Beatles sail to Pepperland to help defend the land against the Blue Meanies. (That movie was very psydelic to say the least.)
Bat Phone: I created this nation while sitting in the common room with my friend. The bat phone is basically the emergency phone for the girls' dorm.

Oh, by the way Archid, up until now I'd always thought that maybe your name had something to do with spiders (spiders' latin name is arachnid). Guess not
EDIT: I was looking up "spiders" on Wikipedia because I was bored just now and I switched the language to German. Apparently, spider in German is "webspinnen". I thought that was kind of interesting.

Where'd I find it? Uhh.. Hmm... I think I bought it at F.Y.E at the local mall or maybe Strawberry's CDs. But I might've gotten it for Christmas. Eh, I think I got it at Strawberry's.
Why do you ask? You want to borrow it? It's a very interesting movie, though I don't know if you'll like it.

Cordova I got from...well...I don't know, just seemed like an interesting name, so then I had Old Cordova, and Free Cordova.
Dancing Bananaland i just came up with on the spot, for some reason the notion of dancing bananas appealed to me, and a land full of them would be cool.
Eastern Earl comes from an old joke between me and my cousin Colin. Colin's younger brothers middle name was "Earl", at the time I thought it kind of an absurd name, and with a progressivley bizarre series of events I eventually decided to name the absurd/bizarre world of my imagination "The Land of Earl". When I concieved Dancing Bananaland, I imagined it kind of like a former Soviet Republic in it's history, and I though wouldn't it be interesting if DBL was the by-product of a cold war that took place in another region (the not-yet-created Land of Earl), and thus Eastern Earl was decided to be the equivalent to the Soviet Union (but a Duchy isntead of a communist country) and thus...yah, those are my nations.
Oh, and Hendricksonia was named after it's founder Lance Hendricks, a rogue DBL general. Lance Hendricks is of course named after Lance Henrikson, who plays Bishop in Aliens.

Most of my other nations have straightforward names...Exploding penguins is taken from the Monty Python "Exploding penguin on the telly" sketch. Sabinastan is taken from the name of the character Sabina and is just a "-stan" ending because such an ending is good when you can't think of anything else. Neo Bashkortostan is so named because it is supposed to be a new offshoot of the real-life Russian Republic of Bashkortostan.

You should be warned for bumping this. It's been more than two months. (Just kidding by the way.) Actually I think this should be pinned, along with the seals. Archid? EI? SP?
My latest nation: Robertland aka Bob - I just needed something totally random.

mine is from the TV show Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. also if anyone cares strawberries has been owned by F.Y.E. for a long time now, thats why you can use their gift cards interchangebly among stores, and strawberries.com is actually F.Y.E.'s website too. its just lately some local stores have been switching names due to the fact that FYE is more well known than Strawberries.

I honestly cant remember my train of thought when i came up with Shadow Prophets, it was just one of those spur of the moment things. I was playing around with various words to find a name, n that one sounded cool.
Azurealis is taken from Azure, 1) cos i used that name quite a bit for various characters etc, and 2) cos its kinda linked to the sea/beaches/tranquility, that kinda stuff. So yeah, I just added 'alis' to the end to turn it into a nation name, and it turned out really well!
Tyrrius, another one of my puppets, is a name I also used for a fair few chacters (the Foreign Minister of SP, for one) That was much much more recent than Azurealis though.
