WELCOME
Hello, and welcome to Crossing Boundaries! CB is an intermediate-advanced dog and wolf RPG that takes place in the city of Chimera, and its surrounding lands. Over the years, this city has had its share of downfalls - once, it was a thriving city, but was destroyed by a hurricane, and abandoned by all human life. But recently, after a fire that once again devastated the city, leveling out all of the old remains, the humans have returned...and have rebuilt the city into an even larger metropolis than before. Will there still be room for the dogs to roam the streets? And will their more 'savage' cousins be safe in the wild? Or will some be forced to cross boundaries, both physical and psychological, to survive?

Main Plot

Sometimes in this life,
We get to where we wonder
If this long road that we're on
Is headin' in the same direction.

Yet another chapter for the inhabitants of Chimera City begins, and this time, it seems to be one of growth and enhancement, rather than destruction. But, this more lively change to the city is not exactly in favor of the canines, but rather - humans.

About a year ago, a raging fire swept through the abandoned city. The ruins from before were leveled to ash, wiping out all that was left, and spreading into the wild lands around the city. This forced the only inhabitants - the canines - to once again run for their lives, leaving everything behind to be engulfed by the inferno. While this was yet another serious downfall to the lives of the dogs and wolves in the area, it was a brand new beginning for humans. They saw this as their cue to once more revitalize and rebuild the long-forgotten city, creating the skyscrapers and homes in a new glory.

The city's plans were laid out within month, and by the time all of the ash and debris were cleaned - everything was put in motion. In the short year that has passed, the flattened terrain of concrete was transformed, into even more than the original 'Chimera' had been. Now, as an ever-growing metropolis, people swarm into the city - crowding the streets and slipping further and further into the wild.

But as the humans return to their magnificent city, so do the canines. Though much more dangerous than before, the dogs wonder the city streets, trying to stay clear of the humans - especially the dreaded dog catchers. The wolves, also, have returned to their homes in the wild...but even they are not safe. Hunting has not been enforced in the area, due to the fact that the wolves threaten the city. There is a shoot-to-kill policy for anyone living on the outskirts, and they may even make a few extra bucks for bringing in fresh wolven pelts.

So now, we truly begin another untold portion of the story of Chimera. And now, it is not simply the boundaries between the wolves and dogs that must be carefully watched, but the boundaries between the canines and the humans. Who will succeed, and who will be forced out of the city? Read on, and perhaps we will find out...

Crossing Boundaries

Chapter One
"In the Beginning, We All Want it to End."

Chimera ki-meer-uh an illusion or fabrication of the mind. A thriving city, in the middle of uninhabited lands - the Chimera had been made real. Though far from any other civilization, Chimera City created the perfect sanctuary for those wanting to 'get away' from it all. With expanding neighborhoods and highly up-kept buildings, it was a paradise for those wanting a world of their own. Everything that was needed could be found within thirty minutes - a safe home, plenty of food, and a variety of jobs with little competition, and high pay. It was flooded, overflowing with people trying to get ahead in life, creating new opportunities for everyone.

But humans were not the only ones who had made a home in this dream-turned-reality. Alongside them lived dogs - of all shapes and sizes - with different stories of how they wound up in the city. The majority, at the time, had escaped from their urban homes, ditching their human companions for a chance at 'freedom'. Others had been on the streets all their lives, born and raised to fear all who walked on two legs. And still some wondered into the city from surrounding areas - Chimera was not only a chance for a new life for the humans, but for dogs as well. With overflowing dumpsters and darkened alleys, the dogs could make themselves at home with little trouble. Due to being under constant surveillance by the humans, the dogs in the city had learned to work together, creating a harmony in between the small gangs that would join up here and there. No territories were ever established in these times, though every so often a newcomer tried to take over - but very rarely did they succeed.

Within the wild areas around Chimera, there reined a different story - one lived out and told by wolves. While they typically wouldn't be caught dead crossing over into the city (for fear of actually winding up dead), they had their own boundary issues within themselves. For generations, three packs ruled the surrounding lands of Chimera: Windfall, the more 'tender' pack which was led by Chinook, who was both a female and a hybrid; Amiss, led by a darkened wolf named Tahmores, who had followed in his ancestor's footsteps in order to instill terror into the veins of all those who opposed the pack; and Sidelines, the neutral pack that led by Akira, yet another brute who had claimed his throne due to his ancestry. For as long as anyone could remember, the three packs had their places in a vicious circle - Amiss had always hated Windfall, and wanted to take over their lands and rid the tender wolves from the face of the earth. Windfall, in an attempt to protect itself and its territory, had been forced to war with the savage pack. Meanwhile, Sidelines - who had somehow become allies with both of the other packs - was stuck right in the middle, at an attempt to end the war and bring peace to the wolves.

But before Akira was successfully able to end the war between his two friends, he mysteriously vanished, and was never seen again. After his leave, a new alphess stepped up, who went by the name of Jei. While she attempted to keep Sidelines neutral at first, her feelings got the better of her - and after falling for Tahmores, her ideas for her pack changed. The affair between the two alphas went on for months, undetected and unknown by the members of both Sidelines and Amiss. After becoming secret mates, the two were expecting a litter, which would eventually lead to the detection of their relationship.

But life changes quickly - for all the inhabitants of Chimera. A hurricane - one of the largest ever recorded - slammed into the city, causing chaos for all three groups of inhabitants. Everyone scattered, and abandoned the city to be engulfed by mother nature. The litter between the two mighty alphas, which just happened to be born days before the hurricane, was revealed to the packs, and members of each pack took a pup in order to save it from the hurricane. In the struggle for survival, everyone was split - packs, lovers...families. The city was left a ghost town, and was slowly swallowed by the violent winds and rain.

Crossing Boundaries

Chapter Two
"The Rules Have Changed"

It was a year later - a year without a single inhabitant in Chimera. It was a ghost town, as well as the surrounding lands, it was forgotten, and the ruins from the once thriving city were left to wither away as the months went by.

But, the city did not stay empty - while the humans had all but forgotten about their old homes and old lives, the canines certainly did not. It was only a few at first, those who had come to reclaim their lives, to seek out those who had been lost...but soon, others began to came. They had heard about the city, full of opportunities for dogs, with a lush and thriving wildlife surrounding it for the wolves. And best of all? No humans. They were all free to do as they wished, to go where they pleased, and they didn't have to worry about getting chased away, or captured by the awful dogcatcher. It was paradise for the canines, a paradise that was bound for greatness.

Out of the former wolven alphas, the mighty Tahmores was the only one to return - reclaiming his throne within Amiss. With him, he brought the only known survivor of his previous litter with the former alphess of Sidelines. The little fae, Karah, had been raised solely by her father, and was growing into quite a beautiful and powerful heiress. But the other two packs, Sidelines and Windfall, were now only a memory. Namina, a new wolf to the lands, took claim of a new area within the rainforest, deeming her new pack "Indra". But, another familiar face to Chimera decided to create his own territory as well. Demon, spawn of Tahmores and Layla, now has a growing vengeance towards his father. By creating his own pack, he hoped to raise an army, and wipe out Tahmores and the Amiss Pack, the pack that had destroyed his mother's life (or so he thought). So once more, there was tension between the wolves, tension that was reaching its breaking point.

Meanwhile, new leadership had also evolved within the city itself. Since there were no humans to control where the dogs went, they began taking over, and out of the chaos, two gangs were formed. But already, these two gangs had a history, and a not so pleasant one at that. Hauze, a muscular dalmatian and leader of Soren, had always been in love with Liseli, a ravishing labrador retriever. But, Liseli had long ago made the choice to take Mika, a handsome golden retriever, as her mate instead - creating hatred between the two males. The couple had also chosen to create their own pack, Aderes, which made the struggle between the three dogs even greater.

It was a new era for the canines of Chimera, one that went along side by side with hate and revenge. Not to mention, the original borderlines between the dogs and the wolves were still in place, creating two divided worlds that were more different than ever before. But, somehow, one small creature managed to make his way across those lines, creating an even larger issue than anything that had ever been seen.

Crossing Boundaries

Chapter Three
"The Love that Created a War"

It had been hard to keep up with the changing times, and for many, their time was running short. Once more, the wolf territories underwent major changes, brought on by loss followed by insanity.

Karah, 'princess' of Amiss, had fallen madly in love with Ares, a lesser member of the prestigious pack. Her father, Tahmores, did not approve, so her love life was rather secretive, even causing her to run away from the comfort of her pack to be with Ares. But, though they shared sacred memories with each other, with one of them even producing new life, Ares did not feel the same way towards Karah as she did with him. He would remain around for their future pups, but as nothing more than a father...he could not make the commitment to Karah.

But before the litter was born, tragedy struck, and Karah was the sole partaker. A group of rogue canines invaded the territories of Amiss and Faust, and for once, Demon and Tahmores joined together, combining their forces and chasing the dogs away from their lands. As a past member of Amiss, and one not wanting to get ripped apart by an angry father, Ares decided to help out Tahmores, and followed their lead in the chase. But, the three males - the only people that Karah ever loved in life, never returned. Their bodies were never found, so it is still unknown whether they lived or died, but nonetheless - they were gone. At this point, Karah lost control of her once-perfect life. She took to the throne to feed her ravishing hunger for hatred, transforming Amiss back into the pack it had once been - a pack wanting nothing more than blood. From that point forward, she came to hate the dogs that roamed the city, and would one day get revenge for what they had done to her father, step brother, and love.

With Karah taking over Amiss, and the disappearance of both Tahmores and Demon, came three firsts in the history of Chimera. For one, Amiss was led by a female, something that had never happened in the generations before that had ruled the sacred lands. The second, was that there were now three females ruling over the wolf territories. Namina, the previous alphess of Indra, decided to take over the Faust pack, since Demon was long gone. With this move came a newcomer out of the cracks of the earth - Mobscene, or "Mob" - who claimed victory over the lands of Indra. And so comes the third history making moment of Chimera - a maned wolf. She was not just any wolf that roamed the lands, but Mobscene herself, a savage alphess with a personality to match her fiery pelt.

As the weeks passed, and matters seemed to die down - yet another horrible incident struck the Amiss pack. Karah had given birth to her litter with Ares, only to have them all born dead. This was a horrific blow to the pack, as there were no heirs to the throne. Besides, the litter of five would have boosted the population of the pack. At this point, Karah was so deep within herself that the deaths did not even phase her. She simply shuffled them off, forgetting about them and her past life with Ares. Her heart had hardened into a thick, darkened stone, one that could never be broken. She was feared, yet respected more than anyone else in the wilds of Chimera.

Then, on a rainy night while Karah was patrolling the territory, she heard the faint cries of a lost puppy. After closer examination, she discovered a small dalmatian, liver spotted to be exact, with deep blue eyes that could capture your soul. Instantly, her hidden motherly instincts kicked in, and Riley, as the little male was called, became her life. He was the only one that she showed compassion towards, the only one that she loved, and who loved her back. She would protect this pup with her life, and she would never let anyone get between her and her 'son'.

But, circumstances were not as simple as they seemed. This puppy was not just any pup, but the son of Hauze, the alpha of Soren. His previous mate had recently passed away (one whom he had never loved as much as Liseli, by the way) and all he had left was Riley and his sister, Chris. But, Riley had somehow managed to wonder away from the city, and got lost in the vast expanse surrounding the city. Here, he was found by Karah - and he needed a mother just as much as she needed a son. Because of his young age, he quickly forgot about his real father, and was raised to hate his own kind.

But news soon spread of Karah's new son and the loss of one from the city. The issue was torn, splitting even packs into two separate groups. One one hand, Karah was, well...insane...and since this pup had come along, she had begun to heal. Not to mention, Karah cared for this pup more than anything, she had raised him and saved his life when he was stuck in the while, and to Riley, Karah was his real mother. But others felt that Karah keeping the young pup was just plain wrong. He was a dog, and had a father who loved him...Riley should go back to where he belonged.

So once more, the tensions grew between the dogs and the wolves. Liseli had promised Hauze that she and Mika would aid him in order to get his son back, and Namina and Mobscene had been drawn in to help Karah. With the joined forces, there was no telling what the outcome would be, but poor Riley...his life was being torn to pieces. But within the groups of canines came a traitor, one only looking to gain power for themselves. Mobscene, the slender maned wolf who differed from the others in the valley, was acting as an ally to Karah, but was really on the side of the dogs. If the other two packs were taken out, she would be able to claim their lands as well as her own, and to have ultimate power over the wolves of the wild. The plan was set in motion, and the goal was, like always, one of revenge.

Crossing Boundaries

Chapter Four
"Light Your Life on Fire"

We now enter into our most recent chapter in the history of Crossing Boundaries. The surmounting war between the dogs and wolves never amounted to anything, but instead was put to a brutal halt. It seems as though Nature just has a roaring vengeance over the city - perhaps it is because it is a nation constantly at war - but whatever the case, Chimera was score 2 for Nature, and score 0 for the canines.

On yet another dark and stormy night, lightning struck within the city, but it caused more damage than anyone would have dreamed. Due to the deteriorated infrastructure of the city, it quickly ignited several shops and stores, spreading across the entire city and even out into the wild. A thick, black smoke engulfed the lands, and once more - the canines were sent running for their lives. The city was leveled, and reduced to nothing more than ash.

But, with the destruction of canine territory came the regrowth of a human population. Within a year, the city was rebuilt, into a huge metropolis that trumped all of the other cities within thousands of miles. It was densely populated, with humans even more strict than they had been before towards the canine inhabitants.

Within the year, Hauze and Liseli had stayed in the city, waiting out the flames in attempts to find Mika. But, he was never uncovered, and was thought to have died within the fire. With Liseli devastated, and turning towards Hauze for comfort, the spotted male kept the secret that Mika had actually been taken by the humans, and thrown into their pound.

And, like always, the leadership of the wolves changed within the wild. Mobscene still held on tight to her throne, but was joined by two others who quickly voided the 'female era' of the wolf packs. Ali'i Kane, yet another newcomer, took over the lands once ruled by Namina in Faust. And Dasan Kiros, son of the infamous Tahmores who never wished to be tied down by a pack, took over his sister's spot as alpha of Amiss. But along with the disappearance of Karah came the job of caring for Riley, and continuing to look out for his safety.

So what will these new alphas bring to the wilds of Chimera? And what will happen when Hauze's secret is finally unleashed? And what about Riley - will he continue to live life as a wolf or will he finally be returned to his 'rightful' family? The answers to these, as well as numerous other questions, have yet to be answered.
