~Kali, come pick me up, it's late, we gotta head up to bed now. Even the beasts are off to sleep.~
Kalirith seeing Yukina standing in the middle of the bowl swooped down and picked her up carefully with her forelegs. Yukina instinctively curled up, and clung to her dragon's claws. Once back down on two feet, Yukina was in the process of preparing for bed when a sudden surge of feeling came from the black.
Mine, it's my time for flight.
"Okay, have fun. You know what to do."
The black unfurled her wings, and dipped down of her ledge. Not heading upwards as Yukina expected, the dragon flew down to a beast and pounced on it from above. Franticly, Yukina kept reminding Kalirith to blood the beast and not eat any of the flesh.
With new energy, the black dragon leapt back into the sky, crying out her challenge to any males that dared to claim her.

((Yay! Night fliiighttt...~~~

Also, fyi, Shiva has informed me that it is not only night, but cloudy~~

Shiva cast Magical Darkness! ))

It was dark, and Tyri was rubbing a towel on her head in her weyr. She'd just gotten back from a trip to the bathing pools in the Lower Cavens and was getting ready to go over next door to Kara's weyr to turn in for the evening. Well ok not turn in, but you get the idea.
So the initial flutters in her stomach she recieved was ignored as just herself getting anxious for later.

It was the rumble and movement of her dragon that alerted her to something amiss. Normally she'd have to bug Miraketh for a ride 'cause once Zale was out, the dragon tended to sleep heavily.
"What's up Zale?" She looked up at him, still rubbing the towel on her head.
Kalirith. She rises.
"Who does what?...waitttt, what? Now?! Why?!"
I will win for once! Mine! Come and hop on! Quickly! Before the others crowd to her!
"Wait a moment! This is Tyrina-Spends-Time-With-Kara night! Not that that's not every night, but still! This is my personal time! I don't bug you during YOUR personal time of naps!" The girl exclaimed, hurridly rushing to grab a shirt and pulling it over her head as she went back to her dragon. "You're so lucky I already have pants on! You're going to be the one explaining this to Kara!!"
Mine! Hurry! I need to go after herr!
"Hold your runners! Tell Miraketh!"
Flliiiiggghht! She'll figure it out!!!
"You totally get to explain this! Don't come crawling to me when Kara stabs you." Tyrina grumbled as she climbed barefoot onto her dragon. "It's completely dark and you're going to go fly after who?"
Kalirith. She is black in color. But now she shines brighter than any gold on Pern. The large blue said as he winged off from his weyr to the small ledge that was beginning to crowd with dragons dispite the time.
"Oh great, a black dragon. Brilliant! Just brilliant!" Tyrina grumbled as she half dismounted/half tumbled off the antsy blue who then struggled to move from the other males all equally eager to dump their riders and fly into the night sky after the black diamond taking flight.
"Stupid son of a...great. Just great. I'm wet, barefoot, and full of dragonlust. And soon I'll have a knife in me 'cause my flight happy blue decided to go chase a BLACK dragon in the BLACK SKY with like NO moonlight when I'm suppose to have private time with Ka---woooaaahh..." She drifted off as the full amount of lust slammed into her like a wave.

~~~~
"When I say it's lights out! It's lights out!" A'ron muttered as he finished up in his office. He was about to head up to Liiri's weyr and get a good nights rest.
Of course, Broth had other ideas.
Kalirith flies, mine.
"Good for Kaliri...oh no! Oh nonono! You are NOT doing this to me Broth!" A'ron protested as he exited the Barracks and was scooped up by his dragon. "I have a weyrmate! She's nice and she has a dad! You remember this dad? The one that has that nice biiig bronze of death? Yeah, that dad! Let's not make that dad unhappy, yes?"
When Kanath flies, I will chase her as well. But now Kalirith flies. The brown explained as he dropped off his rider and took off after the others.
"Just when D'ren was starting to not want to skin me alive too." A'ron pouted as the dragonlust took hold and pulled him towards Yukina.
Vigilance had been Ganoth's continued purpose over the past days since the shining black had sunned so close to the cunning bronze. However, it was a great blow to the male's confidence to find himself dozing with Niateth when her earsplitting challenge echoed across the bowl. Immediately, he stiffened, nostrils flaring with eagerness to join in her pursuit, the desire to follow her into the dark night sky so overwhelming that the bronze had completely freed himself of Niateth's sleepy body and was poised on the ledge before he thought to call T'nor.
Kalirith rises! His words were short, terse, and all the bronze could manage before launching himself high into the cloudy ebony sky. As the bronze ascended, he took the briefest look back, toward the large and likely confused silver he had left in the warmth of the weyr. But his hesitation lasted but a second before Kalirith's shining grace beclouded his mind, tunneling his thoughts and fueling his lust. She had blooded, she was strong despite her size, and this obsidian jewel would be his before sunrise!
T'nor was neither on guard or prepared for the sudden surge of dragonlust and adrenalin emanating from his bonded. His reaction was a sudden and spastic twitch from where he sat dozing over paperwork. "Why now?" He snarled, shuffling around for a blank scrap of hide. He found a piece and immediately began scribbling out instructions to K'yo, instructing him to find his way to Kalirith's weyr and try to fall into the flight, though the ambient dragonlust would probably be less than that of a gold or even a green's flight. As T'nor called Manor to him, hastily fastened the note, and promised the fledgling blue a whole herdbeast if he delivered just this note to K'yo and quickly. With his bronze's lust quickly consuming him, T'nor launched Manor off his forearm, the blue fumbling under the sudden lack of support before flitting out in straight flight to find K'yo. Unfortunately, Manor was not hungry enough and it would not be sorted out until later whether or not K'yo actually received the letter or not.
T'nor stumbled toward the sleeping chamber, thankfully empty. Ryst was elsewhere. "Ganoth, we're dead for this," was all T'nor managed to murmur as he hurried out of the weyr to hitch a ride to Yuki's ledge as the flight started to take hold of him.
The night was dark and still with only a light breeze to greet the young rider while he sat on the edge of his weyr looking at the cloudy nights sky. He liked it, the night was always a time of peace for K'yo, and while the rest of the world slept it was a moment where he could wander around unhindered by the complications of all of it. He also liked to stare up at the moons, but maybe he had just spent too much time hanging out with Ph'n at night. It was at this time while gazing into the stillness that a small flit that he had not before seen; there was a note tied to his leg. He allowed the flit to land on his outstretched arm and took the note from him, allowing the flit to launch himself into the air once again with the thrust of his arm. He read the note and immediately clenched his fist around it with a frown quickly developing on his face.
"Do I want this, do I want to go there and force myself on her," then he stared once more out at the sky, "but do I want to loose her."
And with that K'yo made his way to Yukina's weyr, he would not loose her, but hopefully he didn't loose her respect in the process of trying to keep her.
It was late, and R'ave was asleep in his weyr, R'ver was there too, mostly because his weyr was depressingly small compared to the one that he used to have when he was a wing-second and while staying at R'ave's he had the advantage of steps. R'ver was sitting at a desk in a sheltered corner of the weyr with a small glow basket close by to cast light upon the skins he was going over. It was then that he heard a roar from the weyrledge where katsuyath and malicth were sleeping; it woke r'ave up who immediately shot up in the bed.
she rises mine, the dragon of that girl you like the words were spoken with a passion not normally displayed by the bronze.
R'ave's face was contorted into a sickened glare, "no I won't allow it, I forbid you"
Katsu snorted,
since when have I asked for your permission mine
"I won't go"
R'ver looked over at him, he recognized the signs of what was happening, he had been a part of flight a few times himself and realized that soon r'ave would loose himself to dragon lust and go along whether he liked it or not, "you'll be drawn to her, whoever it is, come here nephew"
Reluctantly r'ave got up and moved towards r'ver who had already extracted a few pieces of leather straps from the desk drawer, "what’s that for," r'ver asked although he already had an idea.
"You don't want to go to whoever this girl is, so I’m going to tie you to the desk"
"Oh, well fine then can you do that, with only one hand"
"Shardit just get over here."
And r'ver tied r'ave's wrists together and again to the desk, he did have difficulty but he managed using a combination of his one good hand and his teeth. It was then that he sat back down; by this time katsu had already taken flight
"now before i loose you to the lust, who is it thats rising"
R'ave loked u from his bindings, "its yuki's Kalirith"
"oh, well then why are you hesitant like this i know you like her"
R'ave looked down, "she's k'yo's girl, not mine, i accept that"
"heh whatever your a..........," r'ver paused and looked over at his sleepy dragon who now showed signs of stirring, "well, it looks like malicth is interested in playing too."
R'ave looked alarmed, "well what are yo going to do, theres no one to tie you up now"
R'ver looked at him, "what makes you think i want tieing up"
R'ave's mouth was hanging open, "but why, why help me with this just to go yourself"
R'ver smiled, " i helped becasue your as close to me as a brother and i love you, but i've been lonely since minna left r'ave, and i don't want to be anymore. Have fun i'll seeya later." and with that r'ver and malicth launched into the sky malicth barely stopping to drop r'ver off at the weyr.
even a man who is pure of heart and says his prayers at night, may become a weyrwolf, when the wolvesbane bloomes and the autumn moon shines bright
Pirate- what is a pirate you might ask, to tell it true i'm not sure i can describe it myself. in times past pirates were often seen as evil men set out to take what did not belong to them, destroying or killing whatever stood in their way. its sad to think that such a thing could be true, but then again one must remember that as is true with all things the men who hold power write the histories, and i am sure that not all pirates were deserving of such vilification. A pirate, its actually quite simple to describe now that i think about it. A man that acts in a manner that conforms only to what his heart tells him to be right, regardless of what the laws of other men say, this my friend is what a pirate truly is. Am i a pirate, no, but i hope to be one some day.
It's been a while.
"What's been a while?"
The brown dragon remained silent, neck craned to gaze out into the sky with a growing interest. His rider moved out to stand next to him, squinting out to see what the brown had grown so interested in, and frowned when he didn't see--and then grinned when he felt. He was about to ask who it was, but Arkieth felt his rider's question before the words made it out of K'dar's mouth.
The black.
"At night? Clever little thing."
She's mine.
"Of course she is."
Get on before I pick you up.
K'dar smirked at the urgency in the brown's voice, and swiftly mounted him, barely having the time to adjust himself properly on the dragon's neck before Arkieth leapt off of the ledge and made the flight over to Yukina's weyr. The brown didn't even bother landing, and so K'dar made the short jump off his dragon onto the ledge, holding on to his mind long enough to get inside and near the girl before Arkieth's dragonlust swallowed his consciousness.
After dropping off his rider, Arkieth responded to Kalirith's cry with a roar, following after the other dragons, and beating his wings powerfully to catch up. His eyes roamed the sky, searching for the black, until he saw something flicker, something move, and focused on it, and flew.
(( See K'dar thinks Kalirith's clever... there are plenty of good reasons for a night flight. ^^ ))
Yukina seeing the number of males file or fly into the weyr had stirrings of fear. But giving into the full blown lust of the dragon, the rider calmed and was proud of the reception her dragon was getting.
Once fully into the sky, Kalirith enjoyed the breeze as she flew higher into the clouds. Hearing the calls of males answering hers, she tilted her head back to see who would dare challenge her on this night. Seeing multiple bronzes and browns, she simply continued to fly upwards. She had waited a long time for this and plenty of energy to last her throughout the night.
Unworried about the much larger dragons making up the distance between them, Kalirith darted into a clear patch of sky amongst the clouds, allowing the full moon to illuminate her for a few moments.
Those few moments were more than enough, and Arkieth latched on to the shape of the shining black as the moon pointed out exactly where she was. Eyes completely focused on her, he darted forward quickly, seeking to make sure that he would remain close enough to not lose sight of her again.
The brown wasn't very worried about the other dragons. He had seen quite a few on his way up, which meant that he had plenty of competition, but most of the other dragons would probably be as focused on keeping track of Kalirith as he was, which meant that he wouldn't have to worry about the others fighting him, or amongst themselves to ensure that they were first. All that was important was getting to Kalirith first, and to do that they'd have to watch her very carefully. Clever little thing, indeed, part of him thought, and he roared again, flying quickly to catch up to her. He wasn't so worried about running out of energy--being bigger, he had more stamina than she, and so being fast was the most pressing concern.
Ganoth felt as if his prowess had once again been stabbed, having thought himself alone awaiting the black's rising, knowing from His that no one was tied to Hers other than the One that needed their help. And yet the cold night seemed suddenly full of wings, many wide, powerful wings thickening the air around him and all falling into the pursuit of this one gem. His gem. With a hide so befitting of the deepening night, the stars and moon, hanging tantalizingly within the abyss into which she wished to ascend would now become Kalirith's enemies, and Ganoth's only ally as the bronze pushed higher, higher into the night surrounded by so many others seeking the same prize. She moved then, as if turned by the wind, flitting out of sight before being revealed in the starlight, a winged arrow of obsidian in a sea of darkest night. This momentary escape made the bronze's great heart flutter with excitement, the thrill of pursuit, the ache of bruised pride that would accompany his failure. Pushed on by this adrenalin, Ganoth curved his ascent to follow her through the closing gap in the clouds.
Zaleoth may have been the largest blue in the Weyr, rivaling the size of the smaller browns that made up the majority of the flight here, but he was still a blue dragon. And that meant an agility that these big clumsy brutes could never hope to have. And he used this, this agility, to his advantage early on in the flight, dodging around browns and bronzes and perhaps some other blues all vying for the front of the pack. Stamina wasn't his thing really, but a small thing like Kalirith could hardly have it either, plus blues weren't called the workhorses for nothing. He'd tear a wing muscle if he had to, if it meant being twined with the black beauty that was ahead.
Spending most of his time twisting around other dragons and getting away from the main pack, Zaleoth had relied on the other dragons knowing where to go to find the little black darling that was the target of desires. Once pushed ahead, the blue paused only long enough to find the bearing of the dancing shimmer of light on the tip of the glistening hide as she dipped out of the moonlight and into the clouds before pouring on the speed, as he saw a few others doing as well. Speed was important, not stamina. This small thing? It would be over in the time of a green, perhaps a silver because she blooded. That didn't matter, what mattered was catching the prize before the others.
~~~~

Broth had, unfortunately, lost sight of the little black diamond and was forced to play follow the crowd. When others pulled ahead and a sudden unusual glisten from the clouds revealed her location, Broth wasted no time in pushing at least ahead of the crowd. Small female or not, his plan in flights had always revolved around stamina and patience. You watch and wait and then snag. It was a flight, not a race. At least, not to Broth it wasn't. Just make sure you're far enough clear from the pack to see around you and make a move and then keep the eye on the prize. Which, unfortunately, was much easier said than done in this case. Black on black, the brown has having enough difficulty in keeping watch on the black diamond (better than any on the shores of Ista!) without the added burden of attempting to be clever about it all.

katsu smiled inwardly, she did that purposely that little trickster, she wanted them to know where she was. while realizing this he took in the image that was before him. The blacks hide was glowing in the moonlight, highlighted amongst the nights sky she was elegant and majestic. Katsuyath was a bronze, and by rights that meant that this flight was his, the only real competition being that other bronze, what was his name again. No matter he was old and katsuyath was young; true enough he had experience on his side, but if this were to be a long flight then it would be katsu's youth that saw him through. pity though, when he won this flight his mine would be in a great deal of discomfort, it would teach him to try and forbid him from doing anything ever again.
((yea y'know how R'ave is very much against the whole i'm a bronze so i'm better thing, Katsu embraces that ideal whole heartedly))

Malicth too saw the black, she was lovely and he could feel the lust within him swell to the point where it was almost unbearable. He too felt the loneliness that his mine had spoken of. it had been many years since Mal had caught another dragon and even then it was only an npc and he longed for the touch of another. to entwine his neck with and become one with a beauty such as that which he chased was his only focus. this would be a challenge but for once he was flying for only himself, mines interests were secondary and he was determined to win.

the two took similar flight patterns, of all the browns malicth was one of the biggest if not the biggest and he was definitely as big as a small to medium sized bronze. if there was any of the chromatics that katsuyath could tolerate it was this one but he would not let him defeat him, after all he was nothing but a brown.
malicth saw the larger bronze and took position next to him, he was not going to waste energy trying to pull ahead when it was not yet necessary, this one was younger than him and impetuous he knew. Mal would wait patiently and tail him as the bronze expended his reserves of energy, let the big one keep track and scare off the others but in the end the victory would belong to mal.

Feeling as much as hearing the males drawing closer to her, Kalirith regretted revealing her position to them so quickly. Annoyingly, despite the blood she had taken, she knew that this flight would not last if she could not put some distance between her chasers. Their stamina would overwhelm hers eventually, but hopefully she could weed out a few that will try in vain.
Continuing to go upwards through her clear patch of sky, Kalirith sailed horizontally through the air, coasting as long as she could. Convinced that she was no longer visible from the dragons below her, she dove back down into the cover of the clouds. Hidden amongst them, she could enjoy her flight, and see which males would find her if any at all.

((ok i have to do something here so the next char post of mine will be a little bit prior to the events of everything else, lets say just before the flight actually started))

as i said, k'yo as making his way to yukina's weyr when he felt a nudge. when k'yo looked down where he had felt the presence he saw the small flit crimson, his red. his foot seemed to be hurt and k'yo could feel the pain emanating from the little creature. k'yo was in a hurry, he didn't have time for this, if he didn't get to yukina in time it would be too late. in his mind he saw images of some faceless figure forcing themselves upon this girl that teased him constantly and made him blush more than anyone should have a right to do. It was then that it hit k'yo, that was exactly what he was trying to do.
"what am i doing crimson, how much respect am i showing her right now with this plan that t'nor, no t'nor and i created together. the thought may never have crossed my mind to do this if not for the man but i went along with it until now. i will not be t'nor's agent, to go in his place becasue he canot maintain control of his dragon. i don't want her to end up with someone else, but i'm not a thief that goes sneaking about taking whats not his, thats r'ver's job after all." he laughed to himself at the joke, "yuki i don't know if i love you, but i would be willing to spend my life trying to figure out, but maybe its just not meant to be between us."
there was another chirp that came from the little red which brought k'yo's atention bac to him, "im sorry little guy, y'know lets get you to the healers, and then we can go and get us lots of wine."
the flit chirped in a sarcastic manner as if to say yea thats exactly what i want to do, and k'yo shrugged, "k, we'll get some meat rolls too," with that the flit began to chirp with excitement and k'yo knew he had gotten it right, "well atleast i know how to get you to like me, lets go then."
and with that, they made thier way to the healers.

((ok, i just needed to pu that, now i can get back to the regular timeline with the others))

Pirate- what is a pirate you might ask, to tell it true i'm not sure i can describe it myself. in times past pirates were often seen as evil men set out to take what did not belong to them, destroying or killing whatever stood in their way. its sad to think that such a thing could be true, but then again one must remember that as is true with all things the men who hold power write the histories, and i am sure that not all pirates were deserving of such vilification. A pirate, its actually quite simple to describe now that i think about it. A man that acts in a manner that conforms only to what his heart tells him to be right, regardless of what the laws of other men say, this my friend is what a pirate truly is. Am i a pirate, no, but i hope to be one some day.

Weaving in and out of clouds like Terran salmon up a river, Zaleoth tried to keep up with the quick and slippery black. It was like catching a fish, really, a beautiful, beautiful fish. Like a pure black ship fish, turned dark and shrunk down to this perfect little package. She wove in and out of the clouds, attempts to make them lose sight of her while still taunting them to come forward. The sensual black diamond, she was a tease!

The blue may have had agility over his competition but compared to this black, he might as well have been just as clumsy as them. He had no way to make his body contort the way it needed to to follow her every perfect movement. He was lucky to have kept up as well as he had...

...and then she slipped into the clouds and didn't come back out.

Frantically, Zaleoth almost backwinged, looking around. Where was the black beauty?! He bugled in confusion, hoping she might reply to let him know where she had hidden. He dove in and out of the cloud cover, wasting precious energy, trying to find her.

~~~
Broth was lost and confused, but he figured everyone else was as well. Some dragons still knew where she was, however, because they were still chasing *something*. It was when the clever thing disappeared completely that panic swept the males. Prize missing, what was to chase? Where was their shimmering black gemstone? What to do?
Dip into the clouds? No, 'cause if she resurfaced you'd never know. Stay above them? But what if she came out below? Go below? What if she went above? Diving in and out as some were? That wouldn't work, it was a waste. But what else to do?
Behind him, Broth heard a squeal-ish sound as one confused NPC brown bumped into a smallish blue that had joined in and, thinking it was Kalirith, attempted to twin. They were both out, as they started to bicker and attempt to untwine their clearly incompatible bodies. A few others ran into one another as the pack of males delved into confusion and collisions the night flight was bringing them. Sylvia would be having a busy night, and not in the busy sort of way she liked.
Malicth watched the black for as long as he could before he realized what she was about to do, clouds again, why do they always go into the clouds, and why was it always cloudy on flights. the one time that he really gets up for longer than a few moments and it always has to be cloudy. The brown knew from past experiences that there was no way to beat those sharding clouds. go in and you've lost, stay above and you've got a chance, go below and you've got a chance too, it was 50/50. the brown hated decisions like this, and he most certainly was not going to make the foolish mistake he made a few flights ago by weaving up and down through the clouds, wasting energy going between the upper and lower cloud clearance. well its was even odds either way and he was already up here, the only thing to do was to maintain a steady watch of the clouds and see if anything would turn up. subconsciously the brown sped up, keeping ever alert to his surroundings. in this case attention to detail would most certainly be required.
Katsu had missed what was had seemed so apparent to so many of the other dragons. one moment the black was there, glowing brilliantly in the moonlight, the next she had vanished in a puff of smoke. where was she, the bronze knew not and he was impatient to find an answer. with a roar of anger and frustration he started to scan the horizon in search of what was missing. it was at this time that he noticed malicths increase in speed, where are you going brown, have you seen something that even i have missed. but of course we all know that malicth didn't see anything he's just acting off of instink and experience. katsu is so paranoid.
((For the sake of dragon physics and the effect of a flight, since K'yo's no longer in Yuki's weyr, I editted T'nor's post a little.))
They were soaring higher and higher, up to where the air thinned and the bronze felt his lungs aching with the effort to provide his muscles with the oxygen they craved. He half lidded his eyes in appreciation of the near weightlessness of altitude, and in that split second, his prize escaped his vision. Rumbling in surprise he backwinged and found his wings fouled with a brown, and too soon they were both falling, plummeting down through the clouds and back out again, the pair rolling apart with confused rumbles. Ganoth's whirling eyes flashed with white fear as he realized how close he had come to smashing into the dense forest that spread in three directions only fractions of a length below his wingstrokes. Worse still, Kalirith was nowhere in his sight, the gem had disappeared! Hard downstrokes brought Ganoth away from the countless dangers of the trees, pushing him up, his eyes ever searching for a glint of hide in the darkness.
There! Just below the clouds, a glint of dragonhide swirled into view. Whether the being was the female he sought or a fellow male, Ganoth hoped the dragon would lead him back into the fray. As he approached, the figure, small and shining, darted into the cover of the clouds again, and Ganoth knew this could only be his quarry. Inhaling a deep breath, his chest bursting with his re-inflated ego, Ganoth bugled to her. In whatever smidgen of logic a rising dragon possessed, Ganoth hoped to impress Kalirith with the cunning and intelligence he had shown in finding her again. However, the fact that it had been clumsiness and luck that had reunited the bronze with the black seemed not to occur to Ganoth.
