Information

Welcome to Deep Forest Weyr! We're a small but active Dragonriders of Pern roleplaying community set in 10th Pass Pern, far in the future after the effects of AIVAS have become completely forgotten and circumstances have caused Thread to fall once more. We focus primarily on character conflict, so if making life all sorts of interesting for your characters is something you want, you won't find a better place!
News

Much to everyone's surprise, Kalirith has laid a clutch on the Sands! Searchriders are being sent out to bring in more candidates to stand for the clutch.

It's Turnover! Dragonriders are welcome to go where they please, Weyrlings and Candidates are to notify their respective Masters if they also choose to depart for the festivities.

General Rules:

1. Respect your fellow rpers, take the advice of those who have been around longer than you, and listen to the council. It'll make your life a lot easier.

2. When you join, post your prospective character's application on the application board for approval. If you make a rider, make sure that his/her dragon is not too high of a color, for those won't be accepted. Flits and lunnews are only allowed with special permission. Wyurms must be Impressed. Chances are that your character will be accepted. But keep in mind that unless you are specifically told that you've been approved, you are to assume that you are NOT approved until otherwise notified. The word to access the application boards is cheesypoofs. You'll know you're approved when your character gets moved to the approved characters forum.

3. The way IC works here is that we have one thread for each timeline active. Please post in those threads if your character is in that time frame (even if they are not part of whatever is currently going on. If they're by the lake while everyone is in the Lower Caverns, they would still be in the same Thread if it was the same day.) This is to keep us from getting too broken up and keep flow between plots and character groups going.

4. No godmoding or powerplaying. This is very, very important. However, if you have specific permission from the owner of a character, you may act them to an extent, but make sure the council knows about this agreement.

5. Don't kill another person's character without their permission. Feel free to kill your own, just notify the council so we know to take your character off of the list.

6. In character actions will result in in character consequences. Out of character information/actions/behavior does not equal in character information/actions/behavior and vice versa. Don't take it seriously if someone's character hates your character--it doesn't mean they hate you.

7. Be active! Every now and then, the council will have little checks where you must prove to us that you are still alive. These are simple: we give you a time limit to post a post in, and you do it. Doesn't matter how bad the post is, IC or OOC, as long as it's there.

8. HADs are not accepted unless you get permission from the council as a whole. They are very, very rare, and we already have two. No more HADs!

9. Please don't have perfect characters. No one's perfect, and it's more fun to rp an imperfect character. Plus, in this Weyr, perfect characters would be ridiculed and systematically broken into imperfect messes like the rest of us.

10. While we no longer keep a strict sub-council, there are still limitations to certain parts of Weyrfolk ranks, most notably the healercraft. We already have our master Healers (dragon and human) and will not accept another without council permission. You may apply as a journeyman healer if you wish, though we may limit this in the future if the need arises. Apprentice healers of both types are highly encouraged to be candidates that chose not to Stand or aged-out or Weyrfolk that are under the age of 18 Turns.

11. Keep in mind that journeymen of any craft would be highly unlikely to Stand for a clutch because of the time they had already invested in their chosen craft.

12. This board has a general rating of PG-13 to R. While we allow all those of the proper minimum age of 13 to join, we are giving you full warning here that we generally do not censor ourselves and that that which goes beyond R will be posted on the "Evil" board. This password can be obtained by requesting it from the council. By requesting this password, you are consenting that you are of age to view/post such content.

Dragons and Rank:

1. You may join with a dragon. Colors allowed for transfers are green, blue, silver, and brown. All others will be denied without special permission from the council.

2. The ages for Candidacy are 10-18 Turns for males and 13-20 Turns for females.

3. Roleplaying out the Search for candidates, while not mandatory, is still encouraged. If you wish to have the Search roleplayed, then contact Asika, who owns our resident Search dragon.

4. Weyrlings, you're expected to obey the Weyrling Master. Of course, you don't have to, 'cause getting into trouble is fun!

5. Positions will be given out based on activeness. The more active you are, the higher rank you get. It's simple.

6. The council keeps a rough list of female dragons scheduled to rise. When your female dragon is next on the list, we contact you. You can PM us with a general date that you will start the flight or simply start the flight and announce it. But be sure to tell the council so we can make sure that no one else is rising on that day. However, we won't force you to have your dragon rise, and if you do not wish for your dragon to rise (either at that time or at all) simply inform khaleeco and she will remove you or move you up for down where you wish to be. If the dragon can clutch, PM Roq with number of eggs and colors for more approval.

7. There are no restrictions on male dragons rising after others. If a white wants to fly after a gold, then good luck to him.

8. Silver, green, white and the majority of black dragons cannot clutch. Golds can clutch anything, Coppers can clutch all but golds and other coppers, and bronzes are extremely, extremely unlikely. If you are lucky enough to have a rare clutching black, then what they clutch depends greatly on the genetic code given to your dragon by the council--more commonly they'll have copper-esque clutches, but a few have the capacity of a gold. Also keep in mind that occasionally the color of the male that caught the female will affect the colors in a clutch. Same rules apply to flits.

Pet Rules:

1. Do not make a flit, lunnew or wyurm! Because we have so many flits and lunnews already, the only way you can get one is by Impressing one unless special permission is obtained from the council. Wyurms are rare, so these also only come through Impression.

2. The only restriction to when the pets rise/run is that they can not rise/run while another one is. If your pet can clutch, PM Roq with the amount of eggs and the colors, and she'll approve them.
