From there it was lovely winding smooth tarseal but not so good when following a truck-  He soon pulled over and we swept down through the hills  The only gravel interludes were smooth  and it was well-kept farmland into Mudgee.  We went back via the easy road through Wellington!  Next page HERE |

there were big rock slabs in the bank, and in the road!  and we even crossed a drift!  Then amazingly suddenly the road climbed up to a tarseal T-junction and we were in Hill End.  This was a raging goldmining town over a century ago, and then everyone just got up and left. Its not that it has been preserved, it just hasn't been knocked down and replaced!   |

More rocks in the road- and more.. We met a 4WD drive coming down a really narrow part, but driving up the bank got us past..  Somewhere in the middle they had a proper passing bay!  Then more of the same  and more big cliffs  |

more narrow winding road.. which got narrower and tighter.. This is a passing bay!!  and spectacular..  The road was built on stones like brickwork in many places-  Big hills & valley-  |

There are some spectacular views- and we headed down to the river flats-  Obviously the river comes up at some time, although not enough to get the ute muddy-  ..and plenty of rocks in the surface..  and as we started to climb up again..  |

Dijo had to go to Mudgee for a quick job & said if I went with her she would go up via the Bridal Track. This heads up out of Bathurst, and has this sign at the start-  The road soon gets quite narrow-  and winds around a mountainside-  with rocks in the roadway-  |
