After much drama picking up the hire car in Cairns, (it had been crashed the night before and they were waiting for another..) we set off down the coast road to Townsville.
First stop Cardwell, one of those beautiful tropical beaches with palm trees... Attached Image  |

In Townsville we stayed in a motor camp on the beach, the last available unit for that night!

The next day we headed West towards Charters Towers, taking the inland road to Kingaroy.
