Early in the morning we got dropped at Cape Town station for our ride on the Premiere Class train to Joberg.

While waiting in the comfy lounge we were served coffee and juice with rusks and biscuits.

We left Cape Town on time and while we travelled through the suburbs got served sparkling wine and nibbles while the train manager introduced the staff. This was followed by morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

Lunch was a three course light meal. This is the entre, an ostrich meat terrein.

Looking forward. The train is divided up into groups, two or three carriages and a dining/lounge car. So there is only a single sitting for meals and staff only look after a small number of passengers.

Looking backwards, the end cars carry vehicles - save the drive.

All the rooms lead off the coridor and have two single beds, no bunks. One bed folds up during the day and there is a comfy chair.

Got off the train as the sun was setting while they shunted and changed engines once we were over the mountains.

We arrived at Orpen Gate a bit late, so did a mini-night drive to our tented camp at Talamati. The tent has 4 single beds, a fridge, fan and cupboards. There is a deck and a view of the river.
