After the relative disappointment of Mezmerise many people were writing this album off from the start. *cough* perry *cough*. However this record, although simalar in its sound to mesmerize, is much more based on the thrashy metal roots that system emerged from. That doesnt mean the whole album is in this vein, just the majority of it. "Shes Like Heroin" and "Vicinity Of Obscenity" are examples of the more rythmic, poppy side of System Of A Down, as seen on the Mesmerize album.
Once again Daron takes a large part of the vocals aswell as guitars, with Serge doing the more screamy part of the songs and some keyboards. Shavo on bass and John on drums.
Particular tracks to ntice are the title track, "Hypnotise", the first track "Attack" and "Kill Rock N Roll" (a sentiment I share, what with the recent music scene).
If you liked "Steal this Album" and "Mesmerize" buy this. Its still not a patch on their self-titled album or on the now-classic "Toxicity", but is still a damn sight better than anything anyone else has produced in the mean time.
