Early Breakfast

[Alexia Vance]

After another sleepless night, Alexia was beginning to run out of things to do to keep herself preoccupied. Her hand hurt from the endless drawing, and her eyes burned from the endless hours spent beside the bright fire in the common room. After spending an hour staring at the ceiling of her dorm, Alexia decided it was late enough for her to head down to the great hall for breakfast. She wasn't exactly hungry, but hell it gave her something to do. She got dressed rather sluggishly before heading down the stairs of her dorm and out of the common room.

Alex was taken back by what she faced as she headed down the empty halls. The extreme quiet and peacefulness of the castle was enough to send chills down her spine. Alexia, never known as a social person, loved the silence. It's just that she had never heard the halls so...silent.

After a few minutes Alexia reached the great hall. She pushed the heavy wooden doors open and stepped inside, letting her eyes gaze over the nearly empty hall. Aside from a few Gryffs, and a small group of Huffie girls, Alexia was alone.

She made he way slowly over to her house table and plopped down on the bench. The lack of sleep had taken its toll on her, even though you could never tell by the way she looked. She looked completely put together, her face showing no sign of ware, not even showing so much as a bag under her eye.

She sighed deeply as she reached out, picking up some random fruits, and placing them on her plate. She began to pick lazily at it when she felt someone plop down next to her.

Jared walked into the Dining Hall and made a beeline straight for the Slytherin table. Don't look at them, he told himself as he passed a group of what looked to be first year Hufflepuffs. Every one of them almost a Muggle, He groaned within his mind. He scanned the eyes of his classmates, as if he could read into their very souls. A couple shuddered and looked away. He liked creeping people out like that. Finally, his gaze settled on a girl sitting by herself, picking at some fruit.

Deciding that there was nowhere better to sit, he sat down next to her, not bothering to ask if the seat was taken.

Alex looked over to the boy who decided to take the seat next to her. She wondered why out of all the empty space that was left at the table he decided to sit right next to her. She looked him over slowly, taking in every feature.Not bad she thought to herself. She shrugged off his presense and went back to her fruit, finally popping a green grape into her mouth.

He could feel her eyes on him and he inwardly smirked. Once she began eating again, he reached in front of her to grab some of the fruit as well. At that angle, he let his eyes slide over her face discreetly, as she was distracted by his reaching hand. How come I've never seen you before? He thought wryly to himself, picking up a pear and taking a bite of it in one fluid motion, his arm snaking back past her chest.

The two were sitting awfully close and Jared let his shoulder drift off the the side and bump her gently every once in awhile as he raised and lowered his arm more than necessary while he ate the fruit.

Alexia sighed deeply, trying to keep her temper under control while the boy bumped into her multiple times. She finished chewing the fruit she was eating and swallowed before turning to the boy. "Is it really necessary?" She asked shortly as she watched for his response. Even though his bumping was annoying she couldnt help but smile. He had only been at the table for what , two minutes, and she already had his attention.

"Is what necessary?" He asked her innocently, his eyes big and shining.

She looked at him a look of annoyance present on her face. But the look didn't last long. Her lips quickly spread into a smile as she saw the way he was looking at her. She picked up a pear and took a bite like he had, nudging him as she lifted up her arm. Once she swallowed she continued "That."

He shuddered slightly, unnoticeably, as her touch sent shivers up his spine, in the nicest way. "Well, yes," he answered, still pretending to have no idea she was talking about his not-so-accidental bumps. "Unless you want me to starve to death? Pears happen to be my favorite fruit."

She laughed breifly, shaking her head as she threw her pear down onto her plate. "Just, never mind." She finally spat before going back to the fruit pile infront of her. She quickly popped another grape in her mouth trying to get the horrible taste of pear out of it. She didn't even think about how much she hated them before she picked it up and imitated him.

He watched her fondly, she reminded him a little of his sisters when they were exasperated with his antics. "As long as we're talking, my name is Jared." He said, waiting to see if she would respond before he extended his hand.

She looked away from her food only when she heard his voice. Quite surprised to her his introdutions she turned to face him once more. "Alexia." she stated with a slight smirk. This boy really knew how to surprise her, keep her on edge. And she liked that. After all what fun is there in knowing everything.

[Jared Eaton]

"But once we stop talking, who knows what it might become?" He continued as though he hadn't stopped, extending his hand to her. "It's a pleasure, Alexia. Pureblooded I hope?"

"Yes." She said breifly to his quiestion. So he was one of the hardcore Slytherins who hated all mudbloods and half bloods. She,herself, had never really had a strong hatred for those of mixed families. Of course she had always thought that people of pureblood decent were slightly superior,but never to a point where she wouldnt associate with others because of it. She wasn't too surprised at his attitude, after all she knew she would find her share of them in her house. "And I'm sure it is a pleasure." She added smuggly, popping another grape in her mouth before flashing him a closed lip smile.

[Jared Eaton]

"Hmmm, yes," he said, noting her superior attitude. "It's not every day that one gets a chance to meet such a beautifully poised young woman, blossoming like an exotic flower with each passing moment," He began to rave about her, trying not to laugh as he did so. "...with large cheeks which resemble a small rodent while consuming bulbous purple fruits and attempting a smirk at the same time."

She swallowed and retorted without looking away from him. "And yet I still look ten times better than you when I do so." She smirked at him once more before returning to her grapes.
