LIQUID FIRE STUDIOS PRESENTS
SynopsisRoad to the Alamo: The Moonshine Duel is the first scenario in the epic 'Road to the Alamo' trilogy. Following the adventures of Sheriff Nathaniel Love, known as 'Deadeye Nate' in the west, 'The Moonshine Duel' takes place at a time when a fledgling United States is considering the annexation of Texas into its nation--a decision that would eventually lead to a bloody war with their Southern neighbor, Mexico. This war will lead to the famed 'Battle of the Alamo', an incredible display of heroism and courage that would eventually lead to a new Republic of Texas.
In the first installment of the 'Road to the Alamo' series, 'The Moonshine Duel', Nathaniel Love has just become Sherriff of the town of Tombstone after proving himself in an epic duel with the town's corrupt ex-Sherriff, Joe Arpaio. As head of law enforcement in the new town, 'Deadye Nate' puts it upon himself to right the many wrongs in Tombstone.
Compounding to Nathaniel's mounting troubles is the arrival of the famed outlaw Butch Cassidy, who is determined to gain control of the town for himself. Along with his gang of outlaws, including the famed outlaws Belle Starr and Billy the Kid, Butch Cassidy takes it upon himself to rest control of the town from the incumbent Sherrif. It is up to Nathaniel Love to defeat Bill's minions- a task that will be defined by duels to the death, bull fights, and more!
In 'The Moonshine Duel', your job is to guide Nathaniel Love in clearing the city of corruption and preserving law and order in the city. Nathaniel's journey will inevitabley lead to a duel to the death that will forever change the course of his own life--and that of Texas history.
Features[*] 400 X 400 map filled with my traditional eye-candy. Extra attention paid to creating highly detailed enviornments, with unique terrain mixing and lively towns.
[*] Traditional 'Wild West' theme and story-line- re-live the adventurous lifestyle of a cowboy! An incredible attention to detail brings this wild west town to life.
[*] Arcade-like gameplay, featuring never-before-seen gameplay elements.
[*] You're the Sherriff--fight out duels, gather the herd, protect the stagecoach (escort missions), stop the outlaws and fulfill more than 100 missions across the massive town of Tombstone.
[*] Several outcomes for
every mission- along with specific consequences for your choices.
[*] Intriguing dialogue system, allowing you to choose exactly what it is you would like to say- with positive and negative answers depending on the situation- for every piece of dialogue.
[*] Influence system- can you retain control of the town, or will you allow Butch Cassidy to gain enough 'fame' and power to take Tombstone for himself? In order to keep his 'Influence' higher than his, Nathaniel must outsmart Butch Cassidy, and undo any of the dasterdly schemes he might come up with.
[*] Impressive combat system- instantly jump from the 'exterior' to the 'interior' of certain locations--such as trains or bars. This gives for a whole new combat experience, where you can go back and forth from inside and outside of a certain area. 'Interiors' are built around the limitations of the AoE3 editor, without the HC mod installed.
[*]Impressive gameplay situations--stop the Butch Cassidy's outlaws from robbing banks, trains and stagecoaches, fight out in hair-raising duels, gather the herd in a hilariously fun 'arcade' game, test your ability to fight an enraged bull, and more!
[*] Ride your horse, or leave it at the stable. Riding your horse provides advantages and disavantages, as does walking on foot.
[*] Promote your influence among members of Butch Cassidy's own gang--including with the beautiful outlaw Belle Starr.
Features in DetailEvery now and then, I will be explaining the mechanism behind each feature. The 'features' list only briefly describes what is of no doubt the most unique scenario ever released for Age of Empires III- and a genuine competitor for that title in other games. Boasting an arcade-style gameplay similiar to that found in the smash hit 'Heroes Chronicles', the Road to the Alamo series will provide surprises and completely unique gameplay in every single one of its episodes.
DuelsDuels were highly common in the Wild West, where outlaws roamed about, gun control was non-existent and virtually no rule of law existed--beyond that imposed by Sherriffs such as Nathaniel Love. Duels in 'The Moonshine Duel' are built around a unique system that test your reflexes--much like the actual duels did back then.
The mechanism is simple. Challenge someone to a duel- whether an outlaw, a banker, or just about any 'gunslinger' or malcontent you have a disagreement with, and you will be taken to the 'dueling square', which is a dusty, wide-open street with a nice big clock over-head.
ScreenieAfter taking ten steps away from each other, a clock will chime. Once the clock 'rings', each gunman will be expected to pull out his pistol as fast as he can, and bring down his opponent. Now, in a typical scenario, you would expect that simply right clicking on your opponent will do the trick.
Not here.
In 'The Moonshine Duel', you will have to be on your toes in order to truly be known as the 'fastest gun in the west'. Upon the ringing of the bell, player's will immediately expect the appearance of an object which they will have to click on as fast as they can, before the other player shoots them.
How fast the object appears and dissapears depends on the difficulty rating of the duel. If it dissapears, the other opponent will shoot you and you will loose the duel, and die. This element of gameplay should keep you on your feet throughout the scenario, and should provide for a far more interesting gameplay element than just 'right clicking' on your foe.
Are you the fastest gun in the west?ScreenshotsNot yet, not yet. You've got to stick around- I'll be releasing new screenshots daily! Tommorow's the first one!
A Liquid Fire Studios ProductionNOTE: I am taking liberties with history. Many of these outlaws and sherrifs are real western legends. Many of them had their careers far after the Battle of the Alamo. Also, Tombstone is not in Texas, it is actually in Arizona. But who cares? Let's just have some good ol' fun.
