Ok, especially after this past week's episode ( the one with the six dancers who were murdered in their house , sorry, don't have the episode name handy ), I noticed something about Catherine that's beginning to concern me.
Let's face it. She's been thru hell this season. Let's run down the list real quick. Her daughter got kidnapped right after they were in a car accident, if you can even call it an "accident". Her father was murdered right in front of her and she had to hold him while he was dying. She was drugged at a bar and raped, after which she did her own rape kit and, to my knowledge, unless I've missed something, she only told Sara about it. Please correct me if I'm wrong on that... I may have missed something. She started having some real feelings for that Kippler ( is that spelled right? ), and then he got killed. Ok, she may still be bummed out about Warrick being married. Oh my freaking GOD people!!!! Poor Catherine!!! I'm serious. How is she holding it together at ALL at this point? I mean, yeah, I've had some shit happen to me in my life, but uh.... seriously... not that bad. Does anyone else get the vibe that she's... oh I don't know... like, about to snap or something? ~Jen |

Woow never noticed it was that bad..
Yeah Jen she did tell Sara about it, but her rape kit got out negative, she wasn't raped, she was just drugged so they could sent her father a picture that would threaten him to stop bugging them. I don't know how sh edoes it but I think that she and Sara might get really close soon, so she has someone to talk to before she snaps. And believe me that is going to happen if it keeps going on like this, I mean this is just not healthy anymore.. most people would have commited suïcide after only half of these problems.. but our Cath is strong So I am sure she'll make it through |

I'm not as far into Season 7 as you guys yet so I dont know everything that's happened to her yet - but you're so right, she's been through hell!
I think she's such a fighter though, especially considering her background and the way she's worked her way up to where she is now. I love that she manages to cope with these things and keep on being her sassy self (but surely she can only keep this up for so long?) I do hope that they develop the relationship between her and Sara soon (i like a bit of CSR!) - i think it's a really interesting one, since they often clash, but in the end they've been the only two female main characters for all seven seasons and I think that might have created a certain bond between them. |

I think it would be good for them both for Sara and Catherine to confide in each other more. Catherine, though, like Sara, tends to try to deal with her own stuff without letting people know she's upset. That's what has me concerned. And one of the people Cath spends the most time with at the crime lab is Grissom. And for people who know him, we know that he's not always, um, the best at reading people. A lot like Brennan on Bones. So I'm not so sure that he'll see her angst, unless she shows some strong emotions right in front of him.
The guy that was in on that incident where Cath was drugged and then the pictures of her were taken... I was pretty sure he did have sex with her, and she didn't remember because she'd been drugged. Technically that is rape. I know, I was almost raped like that by my ex. It doesn't have to be an act of physical aggression upon a victim for it to be rape. However, the psychological trauma on the victim is probably deep no matter how it was done. And I've noticed that Cath just doesn't seem to be her usual self. That makes me wonder, actually, if the writers of CSI are setting it up so that a lot of the people in the show are all heading towards some kind of trauma together... maybe one where they have to rely on each other to get through it? ~Jen |
