ooc: So, yeah. I forgot about the portal not being accessible. Sorry! biggrin.gif

The electric air of the cliffside in Victoria after he stepped through the portal would have taken his breath away, had he any to lose. The clouds roiling above were purple, heavily pregnant with rain. A nostalgic smile stretched Cole's colourless lips. No matter how long he had been at the Academy, this would always be his home.

Weihburough.

It felt as if centuries had passed since he had met the rightful owner, longer still since he had seen his closest immortal friend, Michaela. The manor lie still beneath the bruised sky, and though it looked as if it had been abandoned for months, no graffiti traced the walls, no destruction marred her deathly beautiful face. The local hooligans and children who entertained such notions stayed far away from this place of blood and screams... or at least, they did if they wished to continue their romp through life.

Cole rather thought that a shame.

As he silently glided toward the massive doors, the vampire unpinned a key that had been held fast to the underside of his lapel and weighed it in his white hand. He stood utterly still for a few seconds on the elegant verandah that extended across the front and sides of the manor, listening. There were sounds of movement from inside, he thought, and if it was a stray animal it was larger than a dog.

Perhaps another sort of stray, Cole mused, the smile he wore now showing a scant hint of fang. Ahhh... Now he saw a few miniscule shards of a shattered window pane on the parquet floor through the undamaged panes around it. He hadn't caught it at first and had a moment to wonder if he was losing his touch, but then he saw how carefully the pane had been broken inward and how most of the pieces had been salvaged and re-arranged in an attempt to mimic the original state. How could he have missed the delicate cracks...?

His misgivings were forgotten at the sound of a voice inside. Without a trace of hesitation, he slid the key into the lock and threw open the door. A pair of disheveled teenage girls reclined on the antique chaise in the parlor. A Victrola on the hearth played soft classical music as the two clung to each other. They were tangled in their passion, lips sealed, cheasts heaving, and as he flung open the door one was in the act of sliding her hand up the other's blouse. It took them a second or two to register the sound, and then they shrieked in unison. Their screams were sweet harmony.

His laughter rose over the sounds of their panic, and he streaked toward them, gracefully twirling one into the iron grip of his right arm as he yanked the other close with his left. Tears were already pouring down the pale face of the girl on his left, and her dyed-purple and black hair streamed behind her as her head flew back. He darted foward, burying his mouth into the hollow between her neck and shoulder, still laughing as his fangs pierced her skin, laughing as the blood spilled through his lips and as the girl began to twitch and moan in helpless pain. Her girlfriend raged in his one-armed embrace, spitting curses through her clenched teeth while her own tears trickled down her cheeks.

"No trespassing," he whispered, pausing in his feast as the girl on his left began to loll limply against him. The blonde with spiked hair on his right shuddered with loathing as he returned to the fount, oblivious of her nails digging into his skin.

A slow clap rang out from the open door, clearly audible even over the feminine cries of distress. A man of moderate height leaned nocholantly against the doorframe, an cocky smile adorning his slightly craggy features. Shoulder-length white hair and a few shallow creases crossing his forehead indicated age without weakness, and the sharp edge revealed by the arrogant grin indicated something else.

"Cole." The stranger ceased his applause and clasped his hands together, but the confident grin remained. He had a strong voice, with a touch of an Australian accent. "Perhaps the rumours of your weakness have been greatly exaggerated. You certainly seem to be on top form at the moment." He raised an eyebrow, distorting the long, thin scar that sliced across his forehead, from his hairline above his right eye to the edge of his right cheekbone.

His eyes swept the room, taking in the shattered window, the Victrola still quietly expelling romantic music, finally resting on the terrified eyes of the red-headed vampire's victims.

"It certainly is heartening to see the infamous Mr. Kensington back to old tricks. I can't say it's what I expected, but I'm certainly not complaining." A humorous glint appeared in the white-haired man's eye, and he chuckled quietly. "Good on ya, mate."

He looked back to Cole, his eyes lingering slightly on the thin streams of blood trickling down the dark-haired girl's neck. "I have travelled some distance to find you, and you know what that can do to the appetite."

His grin widened, fully revealing the vampire's fangs, and he straightened up off the doorframe. "So." He indicated the blonde girl with a slight nod of his head. "Spare a bite?"

Tamping down the immensely pounding rage that clamoured in his head, Cole paused and flashed the newcomer a red rapier grin. The girl with the streaked hair was almost gone, and to interrupt him in such a delicate moment was either incredibly daring or dangerously stupid - he wasn't sure which. It took a great deal of concentration to draw out every last drop of blood while staving off the inevitable, and in that moment, after only a few seconds' introduction, Cole fiercely hoped that there would be one hell of a confrontation with this git at some point. Preferably physical, as he could practically smell the last vestiges of the other's humanity drifting off him in waves.

Quite a young vampire, if not a young man, and in fact he was, in a strange way, Cole's opposite. Cole looked impossibly young, and his rail-thin form contributed to the image of a boy who has barely reached two decades. This man looked as if he'd been pushing 40 when he was turned, and Cole's grin turned to a faintly mocking smirk. "More than welcome, old man."

While he was speaking and without warning, he hefted the blonde child with one arm and flung her across the sitting room at the other vampire. The slender girl screeched like a spitting cat as she flew through the air, and without another word, he returned to his meal. He threw the spare for two reasons: the first was a test of the other's reaction time, and the second was merely to be an arse. Apparently, no one had informed this fledgeling that it was in poor taste to interrupt another vampire while they fed, and even more impolite to request a meal you hadn't lifted a finger for. However, it was also considered rude to refuse to share in such a delectable feast, especially when there was just so much hot, fresh teenage blood to enjoy, sprouting from such tender necks.

Lifting the girl carefully as he fed, Cole carried the precious thing to the chaise and arranged her comfortably in a prone position, then knelt before her. His mouth never left her, and one ghostly hand drifted up to dreamingly massage the girl's stuttering heart in an extremely gentle rhythm. The visitor was now utterly ignored.

Michael shifted lightly on his feet and stepped quickly to his right in time to close his hand around the left wrist of the flying girl before she touched the ground. There was an audible crack as he swung the blonde around to bring her body flush against his, face to face, and quickly sunk his teeth into her skin.

The broken arm was unimportant. He knew he may lack some of the speed and grace of the older vampire, but he also knew that did not denote him inferior, simply younger. He still possessed strength and reflexes far superior to the human standard, and after all, no amount of broken bones would affect how the girl tasted.

He wrapped his left arm firmly around the girl, his right hand still grasping her wrist. She was still struggling, albeit feebly, as he slowly drained her. As he fed, he lifted his eyes to gaze over the girl's neck, watching the red-haired vampire's unnecessary theatricals. Not the primary objective of his travels, but a worthy side trip, to be sure. When Michael had heard about the once infamous Nicholas Kensingston, the Burning Cole, residing amongst this colony of apparently tame vampires, he couldn't resist the detour. And there was a chance this place may yet lead him to what he was looking for.

He was confident he'd managed to conceal his surprise, but he hadn't expected the other vampire to concede to his obviously impertinent request. If he was honest with himself, he would have to admit he was actually hoping for a fight. And yet, at their first meeting, Cole had completely surprised him.

I think this will be fun. If he hadn't had his mouth full, he would have smiled.

“Oh how sweet, you two boys are sharing.”

The travel from Kalloni had not been particularly enjoyable for the young Vampiress. After a splendid evening of trailing a fop of a youth around, before a theatrical finish that had involved his brother and sister-in-law, Sombre Verité was feeling pleasantly sated. She had followed this up, as she so often did these last few weeks, with a walk along the boulevard, which had left her feeling nothing short of nostalgic.

It had been long enough. She would take the portal and see how things were in fair Victoria.

Unfortunately, she had forgotten the advice given her by Leitana about the portal and clambering through the wreckage of the temple just for a short jaunt down memory lane was not quite what she had intended. Still, the decision had been made and Sombre was notoriously obstinate. The wonderful rush of cool air as she finally arrived in Victoria made it seem worthwhile. Taking a moment to adjust herself, Sombre straightened her diaphanous peacock skirt, rearranged her chemise and took the first step she had made on Victorian soil for some time. It was precisely at this moment, the stunningly dark sky opened and the rains began. The Vampiress had moved quickly, instead of allowing herself the usual indulgence of sightseeing and dancing in the rain, and was in no time in front of the Manor.

It felt cold, and some how neglected though the façade was almost perfect. Cold, perhaps un-lived in, but not deserted…

Leaning against the doorframe as she interrupted, Sombre offered what she hoped was a charming smile to Cole, though he seemed a little occupied. “And it seems you gentlemen have left nothing for a lady, what an age we live in!” Unlike Michael, it was perfectly obvious Sombre did not expect to be included in this little frenzy. In fact, if they had not been visible from the very front door of the Manor, Sombre would likely have left them to their kills.

She inclined her head to other red headed Vampire and, though unsure if he was actually paying any attention to her, added a courteous, “Master Cole.”

She considered the other Vampire for a moment, remaining silent. It was strange, though physically she and Cole seemed, in some ways, similar enough to be auburn haired siblings, perhaps even with Lei as a sister too, Sombre knew this middle-aged man was closer to her contemporary.

The way that girl was bent… Surely her arm was broken? Sombre wondered whether it was Sadism or merely young carelessness that had caused this, but dismissed it. It would be no matter soon. “A pleasure,” She said simply to the feeding man, though she had been offered no introduction. Something more captivating than the man, had caught her eye: the Victrola. She smiled at it, as one smiles at an old friend, and approached as if spellbound. When she reached it, she touched the wooden box gently, and grinned.

Spinning around, her bell-skirt following the gently rhythmic sway of her hips as she moved unconsciously to the music. “Oh, I do love this song.” It was difficult to tell if the Vampiress meant the elegant nocturne floating delicately up from that needle or the last stuttering gasps and moans of Michael and Cole’s destructive meeting.

ooc: Sorry it is a bit all over the place, it was a difficult moment in which to interject tongue.gif

some one gets trapped on the outside
And never gets back...
