So the new DBZ title is well and truly out. So far ive managed all the story, unlocked the entire roster, and am currently finishing the only thing really left to do - the ranking mode.

Gameplay is frustrating at times but ultimately quite fun, they've certainly ironed out alot of the problems of the previous version. New additions such as teleporting and the different types of combo certainly break up the old style boredom that was BT1. Beam and Burst struggles seem improved, and adding Ball struggles and transformation during battle was definitely a good move.

Story mode is ok, although the disproportionate amount of made up movie fights makes those particular *sagas* quite tediuos. The cutscenes didnt really live up to much either but at least they are now there. Some parts are still sorely lacking, especially Dragonball GT which is really quite random and unaccurate. However Dragonball gets the biggest shafting, with no story mode and only a handful of personalities, and still only one villain.

The arenas arent really massively improved i must say, especially the City stage which feels exactly like its BT1 counterpart. However on the flipside Namek does feel better and now includes the awesome Dying Namek variant. New arenas are for the main pretty cool, and ingame visuals as a whole are pretty nice, with flashy beams, decent arenas and some really welcome details such as facial expressions and hair movement.

Overall could it have been better? Yes. But does this make it any worse then previous DBZ titles? No in my opinion. Personally i find it just about the best DBZ game out to date and look forward to seeing if it warrants another sequel.

So whats your guys thoughts? Enjoying the game? Struggling with finding stuff? A legitimate beef with the game? Discuss it all here biggrin.gif

I actually think they excelled themselves with this one, of course it still lacks characters, but has indeed made up for their previous hiccups.

My only quarrel is i wont take Goku further than SSJ because of that "angry Kamehameha" *cry*

Yeh SS1 Goku in his torn battledress with the Namek style LSS hair colouring and ?Angry Kamehameha blast attack is just too tempting. I always used that form against anyone who wasnt a wall in story mode. I like his rush too it flows so nicely.

And shame on you DJ you missed my new *Best addition* topic in this forum. Vote now or i shall set the hounds of hell on you again, and im sure you dont want those skorched teeth marks down there again rolleyes.gif

What do you think of the Ultimate Battle Z mode btw? I think its much improved on the previous version. Instead of a pointless ranking mode with 100 equally pointless ranks to battle for, they have those towers which either have unique themes or stipulations (tag, survival, 2 on 1 ect) Ive almost completed all of it its good fun

I've heard good things though, i believe i've done "Goku road"

Yeh id definitely give it a go, they really looked at how tedius the mode was last time, and decided to change it massively. Which was definitely a move for the good.

i like ultimate battle mode as i told you prior, its my favorite mode out of them all, except for zarbon's "beautiful treachery" in story mode. the reasoning is that i enjoy "ginyu force" and "movies" on level 3 difficulty. personally, i'd have enjoyed to fight at least 50 guys in a row instead of 5...that would have been merciless awesomeness. and you wouldn't be able to regain health. that would have been the best thing to do to the game..but it just wasn't done...similar to tekken's survival modes, where you'd fight over 40 guys in a row, so AWESOME.

I see what you mean, sounds alot like Smackdowns old Slobberknocker mode too. You could battle as many opponents as you could defeat in 20 minutes on that one if i remember rightly. Im pretty sure i defeated around 100 on that biggrin.gif
