In this topic, I will give you all updates on the progress of the school store. For now, you may all reply to topics posted here, but you may not post your own topics until the school is finished.

As of July 9, 2005 at 6:13 PM EST, the basics of the school store are DONE!

The school store basics are done! You can now sell items, and other people can buy them via a URL! Their money is transferred to you as soon as they buy it! This can all be done via the Money CP (or, since some browsers don't support text changing, the "Portal" link for some of you). You are asked to enter the item's name, the URL to download it, the price of the item, and a short description (this will be used later, when I get the "item reading" online). You are also asked to enter your username, as this can't be auto-found from the portal page as it can from the other forum pages (). Be warned, though, that as the admin, I have full access to the user ID of the person who sells each item. Therefore, faking names will NOT be tolerated, and the item will be taken down as soon as I find it, and the user who did it may be banned. Once you press "Put Item Up For Sale", you will get an item ID, which is unique to that item. You can all now post in this forum, to advertise your items by posting information along with the item ID. Anyway, enjoy the store! I hope to see great things bought and sold here !

I know how to get the currently logged in member ID & use PHP to read/write text files to add/remove items to the for sale space. I am learning how to give each member money. When this is done, I will work on the School-side part of the store.

I now have the money worked out. Tomorrow I will work on allowing items to be put up for sale by one user and bought by another.

I now have everything working PHP-wise. I am just trying to find a way to put it on the forums. If worst comes to worst, I'll have to make the money system and store outside of the forums, but I'm going to try everything else I can to get it on here.*EDIT* Also, I thought you should know how to sell stuff so you are prepared when the school store goes online. You will not have to put your username, as that will be auto-found (like how it is in the chat room nickname box). You just put the price, the URL to download it, the name of the item, and a short description. It will then give you an item ID. That's the ID that people will enter to buy it and to read about it. When someone buys your item, an OK/Cancel box will pop up asking them if they are SURE they want to buy the item. If they press OK, the price will be deducted from that user's money, added to the seller's money, and the URL of the item will be displayed for download.

Ran into a problem: Getting the member ID (which is required for user money) can only be done from the forums pages, so I won't be able to make the money system on a new site....if ANYONE knows how to get your own page on an InvisionFree forum, please PM me. Until then, I'm asking this question on the InvisionFree support forums all pover them

I have now gotten the money system online. Click "Money CP" at the top of the forums to check your balence. Until I get the buying/selling stuff on the site, everyone has $100. Remember: It wil automatically detect if you are logged in, and give you your correct balance. No extra log-in needed.

If you "have the money worked out", then is a way of seeing/earning it not accessible to members yet?

Yes, this is the right topic. Here's how it will work:

Everyone will start with $100. People will be able to sell things (like music, images, custom titles, webpages, or anything else you can give to people over the internet). That's how people can make money (and lose money). Also, if people help out around the forums or during classes, then they can send me some proof (or at least something so I don't just give away money) and I'll award them money based on that.

Since the main thing is the buying/selling, when that's complete, I'll allow members to get money. Also, if you can think of anything else that should happen in that has to do with the store, post your ideas here, and if I like the idea and it's possible for me to do, I'll try to do it.

No. You guys make the items. Then you just upload it anywhere and put that URL in the URL area of the Sell Items form. When someone buys it, they get the link to download it.

OK, a new addition to the money system has been added, but this one is not in the Money CP. If you look in anyone's profile, once the page loads, at the end of the Information section is a little thing that says "Donate Money". If you type in an amount of money and press Donate, the person whose profile you are viewing will get that amount of money from you as a donation.

Nope, sorry. This is all non-profit. People here teach to help others, and advertise only in return for the UGMS advertising their site.

Oh, you mean fake money, from the Money CP? You get that one of 2 ways:

1) Sell items.

2) Get people to donate their money to you.

I may award people money for things they help out with, but only if what they do is very worthy of money.
