Jerome entered the launch bay in his casual wear, looking around until he saw the Chief Mechanic of this section of the facility. He walked over to her workstation and noticed a cup of coffee nearby. He took a sip, not reacting to the cold, disgusting taste. He needed all the caffeine he could get.

"Chief Alicia Mackwell, why wasn't I informed about this sudden EA incursion?" he asked in a calm manner.

"Captain Mensalien. Sorry, apparently HQ only alerted the main Defense Force. They either forgot or ignored test pilots during the alert," she replied as she continued to work at her computer.

"Alright, don't worry about it. Here's a bit of something I picked up along the way, since I knew that you probably pulled an all-nighter," Jerome said softly as he put a plastic bag filled with small boxes containing something that smelled good.

"Ah, thanks," she replied happily.

"Is it ready?" Jerome asked as he turned toward the mobile suit that was locked in place in the bay. Several mechanics crawled around the machine, moving and working like ants, in a way.

"Almost. We have to go through some last-minute tune-ups to guarantee that this suit will be battle ready. Don't worry, you'll be out and kicking soon," she said reassuringly.

Jerome merely nodded as he walked over to a terminal and began reviewing the readouts of the mobile suit, technical specs, and data concerning his previous test runs.

After about another ten minutes, Jerome noticed Chief Mechanic Mackwell waving at him. She then pointed straight up at the cockpit of the experimental Astray. He nodded as he walked to the suit and ascended via a winched line near the cockpit. When he got there, he hopped in, and sat down while simultaneously powering up all systems. As the Astray reverberated around him, he fastened his five-point harness and closed the cockpit. The dark cockpit immediately lighted up as the mobile suit's cameras fed the images straight to the primary HUD.

Jerome kept track of the checklist as everything came online in succession:
Power systems...check
Hydraulics...check
Sensors...check
Propulsion system...check

CIWS...Armed
70X1 Saber...Armed
MMI-M990X...Unarmed

He purposely kept the main weapon of this Astray unarmed, since it was a significant power drain on the battery.

"Open the launch bay door," he said over the comm. Unlike most ships specializing in mobile suit deployment, the Morgenroete facility did not use linear catapults. So Jerome softly eased his joysticks forward, causing his mobile suit to slowly walk foward to the edge of the bay. Blast panels elevated behind him, to protect the mechanics from the inevitable launch.

"You're ready to launch, Captain," Mackwell said over the comm.

"Jerome Mensalien, Blitzkrieg, launching!" The flight unit on the mobile suit's back flared, launching the suit up into the air.

"Now I got to find out what the hell is going on..." he thought as he soared over Onogoro Island.

[OOC: To 'Operation Fensi'...I think.]

A door to the right of Chief Alicia Mackwell hissed open as a small and rather young looking girl walked in, holding a peice of paper to her chest. She looked around, a little bit timidly. She was a person with a strong personality, but in a place like this? Anyone would get nervous. She didn't see Mister Mensalien at all. How did she know what he looked like? It was amazing what you could do and find with a computer...Her soft green eyes gazed about before she saw a rather authoritive figure....she looked to be in charge. Taking a deep breath, Kino began walking towards Alicia Mackwell.

She made sure Ms. Mackwell saw her before the young girl reached her. Kino stopped infront of Alicia and bowed politely and formally. Why? That was how she was brought up. Kino's mother had firmly placed the idea in her daughter's mind that upon meeting someone, you should always show your respects. Not doing so was concinderd rude. It had been driven so far into her mind that it was not only a habbit, but a way of life for her now. Meet, bow, state your name. That was how her mind worked.

"Excuse me, Ma'am?" Kino's voice started off softly...No! She couldn't begin weakly! Then what would they think of her? She cleared her throat, her voice getting stronger as she went. "I have been instructed by Morgenroete Inc. to seek out a certain Jerome Mensalien. You wouldn't happen to know where he is, would you Ma'am? I was told he was a test pilot...so I came here..."

There she went. Kino might be mature for her age, but her youth still showed through at some unprotected spots. She had sounded so much like an innocent little kid on that last sentance it was almost sickening. Kino's deep green eyes gazed into the face of Alicia, waiting for the girl's reply.

((Sorry for the shortness....I seemed to have fallen asleep on my keyboard for about an hour. >.>))

[OOC: From 'Operation Fensi']

Jerome approached the facility and quickly relayed the correct codes to de-activate the automated defense systems that were installed at various points around the facility.

"Chief Mechanic Mackwell, I'm approaching the launch bay. Two-hundred meters and closing," Jerome said over the comm.

He reined the throttle back, easing the descent of his suit as he saw the launch bay door open. He managed to maintain the stability of his suit despite the faltering flaps of the flight unit as he slowed to a stop, 15 meters above the bay. Then he carefully lowered the suit until he heard the satisfying soft 'thud' of his suit's feet. He quickly shut down the flight unit as he made his way inside. He then turned the suit a full 180 degrees, so it was facing at the bay door, before carefully easing the suit back further until the suit was finally locked in the bay's mobile suit braces.

He shut down the Blitzkrieg as he opened the cockpit door and unbuckled himself. He made sure to bring his datapad with him as he descended down via 'wire' onto the bay floor. As soon as he reached the ground, a group of mechanics immediately flocked to the suit, removing the weapons and flight unit, as well as inserting a massive cable to begin the recharge process.

As per procedures, he copied his report onto a small, mini-disc as he walked over to Mackwell.

"Here's my post-test report, Alicia. There's a lot of things to be happy for with this suit, but an almost equal number of issues that has arisen. It's all in there. Now why did you call me back anyways?" he asked with no malice in his voice.

"Sir, well, there's this girl here...she has an official document from the top guys of the Morgenroete that says to find you..." she said as she looked toward the girl with uncertainty.

"A girl? With orders from Morgenroete Inc.? Don't worry, I got this," Jerome replied calmly as he walked over to the girl.

At first sight, she didn't seem like much, with her frail-like and diminutive stature. She was wearing fairly formal and somewhat somber-looking clothing. As he got closer, he also noticed her eyes; green with a seemingly calculating glint in them. He realized he'd seen such eyes before; they were like his own whenever he was engaged in battle.

"I am Captain Jerome Mensalien, test pilot of Morgenroete Inc. and of the Orb Union. I heard you were looking for me. You are...?" he asked in a straightfoward tone and though it seemed somewhat unorthodox, he offered right hand forward.

Kinokiita watched the Mobile Suit enter the bay, her eyes not once leaving it's amazing framework. This machine...it was even better than she had imagined. She had never seen a Mobile suit up close before, yet she had always held a certain place for them in her heart. She would often read about them, find scattered data about them on the internet, and sometimes even ask pilots questions about them. Fact was, Kino thought highly of Mobile Suits and Gundams. The machine in front of her was a marvel of human ingenuity, a mass of metal and circutry that made her heart beat faster just by seeing one of these amazing machines up close.

Kino was forced to tear her eyes away from the suit when Alicia greeted Jerome and told him of what had happened. Kino had to take a deep breath as Jerome turned to her and began speaking. This man had flown mobile suits, and had maybe even engaged enemies in mechanized combat. And here she was, an insignificant 15-year old coordinator newtype, looking for a job with him. Kino suddenly felt a huge rift between she and Mensalien.

That wouldn't stop her. Her mother would be ashamed if she knew Kino was thinking of backing out right as she had found her objective. She then remembered why she was looking for a job with Mensalien...it wasn't for her; It was for her family, her father and brother, but most importantly, for her mother. Her mother might not exactly be with them, but she still felt that she had to make her proud. So, with a steely glint in her young green eyes, Kino extended her hand, took Mensalien's hand, and shook it in greeting.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Mensalien. My name is Kinokitta Sokutenkyoshi, and I was instructed by Morgenroete Inc. Officials to seek you out in terms of employment. I was given this letter after I sent in my application."

With this, Kino handed Jerome the peice of paper that she had been clutching. Amazingly, it was still wrinkle-free, despite her fingers clutching the substance out of nervousness. She then looked up into the eyes of Jerome.

"I know I don't look like much, and I know I'm young, Sir." Kino began, her voice getting stronger with every syllable. "But I do know my abilities, and I can perform them without flaw. If given a position, I won't let you down, Sir."

[OOC: Sorry about the delay...and I forgot to log off earlier today, so it appears as if I was on all day. XD ]

Jerome grinned slightly as she introduced herself. He could easily sense that she was putting up a 'front,' which wasn't surprising since most adults wouldn't take someone so young seriously enough. But as he took the official documents he also heard something faint in her voice: Nervousness? Guilt? He wasn't sure what to make of that but did know she was definitely exceptional from the calculating looks in her eyes as he looked back at her.

He didn't reply immediately as he carefully leafed through the documents. Though it didn't specify what sort of occupation she would assist with, he did note the 'TA' code on the bottom left corner of one of the documents.

"Technical Analyst...interesting..." Jerome thought, "They knew we were really understaffed, especially with analysts..."

He faced Kinokiita directly and replied, "And I believe you, Miss Sokutenkyoshi. According to these documents, you would be most suited as a techincal analyst. But..."

He then walked over to the base of the Blitzkrieg, gesturing for her to follow.

"I believe an analyst is able to do far better if he or she understands where the data is coming from..." he continued, as he pointed to the wire and foot 'hook.'

"Place your right foot in the 'hook' and hold the wire with your right hand firmly. You'll notice a handle near your hand. The top button raises the line, the bottom lowers it. Rise up, enter the cockpit, lower the line for me, and sit inside at the pilot's seat to await instructions as I follow you up," he instructed her.

"Not sure if she's expecting this, but I know many analysts tend to do less of a good job by remaining ignorant of the very things they analyze. And besides, I doubt she's ever ridden inside a mobile suit," he thought wryly.

Kino watched Jerome's face, analyzing his expression and the look in his eyes. She was very good at analyzing things, be it data, situations, emotions.... and it looked like, for the most part, he wasn't going to turn her away based on her age. He was a very wise man in this aspect, though she knew no other aspect OF him. She nodded deftly, her eyes trained on his, basically ready for anything, even rejection. However...

She was NOT ready for what he then told her to do. She blinked once or twice, and her mouth went dry. Sure, she was a coordinator, a coordinator NEWTYPE, but...she had never been in one of these mechanical wonders in all her life! What if she ended up destroying it by accident? They would fire her before even hiring her! She played horrible scenes of her messing up horribly and even endangering lives. Her eyes squeezed shut for a moment as she was filled with self-doubt. Her mind then kicked into Analyist mode....

Doing this would give her the upper hand on getting a job with Jerome. Doing this could ensure her a spot to prove herself to god and everyone...if she did this...then she would also prove to Jerome that she was not afraid. Kino's eyes opened, a determined glint appearing where doubt had once been. She wouldn't be so easily diswayed from her objective.

"Yes, right away Sir."

Kino then began to walk towards the hook....were her steps wobbly? Did her knees rattle like a small child's on Halloween? No...she wouldn't let them. Her strides were strong, as if they were trying to prove a point. Gently, Kino placed her right foot in the hook and found the button Jerome had spoken of on the handle. She pressed it, and she began to rise into the air, towards the unknown and perhapse an advantage. Her eyes locked with Alicia's as she raised, and she could only twitch the corner of her mouth in a small smile to the woman who was nice enough to call Jerome for her. Once at the top, Kino gracefully entered the cockpit, and then lowered the hook back down to Jerome.

It was even more amazing than she had dreamed of. Gadgets and gizzmos everywhere....data-filled devices all around her. Her glasses slipped to the end of her nose as she studied the cockpit....

"Amazing..."

Jerome continued to grin at her attempt to suppress the look of surprise on her face. Then he saw her expression change as she put up a brave front and replied ot him firmly, as if he was challenging her. Jerome had no intentions to dissuade her from this particular job; it was a genuine request.

He turned and gave a mock salute to Alicia, receiving a little grin in return. He turned back, just in time for the wire to return back down. He quickly got on and ascended. When he reached the cockpit, he leaned on the hatch as he peered in.

"Make yourself comfortable, but you don't need to buckle in," he first said as he carefully went in above an around her until he was just behind the cockpit seat with everything up to his knees inside the spare cargo compartment. He noted that along with her surprise and wonder that there was a little...apprehension as well. He smiled slightly as he patted her shoulder in a reassuring manner. Then he tapped a quick numerical combination into the keypad on Kinokiita's right.

"Don't worry, I just set this mobile suit into simulation mode. You can still 'power' everything up and manipulate like you would in actual combat, but the suit itself will not move. It will use a direct data feed to set up the certain simulation and will feed both technical and visual data to your screenes. Right now, simply flip those switches up there," he instructed, pointing to a series of red switches above a little to the right of her.

"And then hit that button," he said, pointing to a grey button on the panel to the near her right leg, "to close the cockpit hatch."

Kino waited patiently for Jerome to follow her up into the oh so amazing cockpit of this even more amazing machine. Once he was inside, she let out a small breath of anxiety....hey. She was allowed one, wasn't she? Kino suddenly felt his hand on her bare shoulder, and she, for some odd reason, felt immediately relaxed. She wondered why that was...she didn't have time to worry about it right now, because he was already giving her directions.

Her ability to soak up information came in real handy right about now as she soaked up his instructions like it was water into a sponge. Kino listened carefully, and, as he told her to, she began flipping the switches carefully that were above her on her right. Her hand instinctively moved for the button Jerome had pointed out before he even said it...weird. When he told her to, Kino pressed the button. The cockpit began to hiss shut and finally close....Kino's mind then thought of something, and she turned her gaze towards Jerome.

"Mister Mensalien, Sir?" Her voice was soft now. It was amazing how many different emotions this kid had. "I'd...like to thank you. Not many people would do this for a could-be employee, and the experience is...well it's breathtaking." Kino said. She never thought she would be able to sit in the pilot's seat of a Mobile Suit, nevermind at the age of 15. She always imagined herself sitting infront of a computer monitor, but now Jerome was giving her a rare treat, an insite into where the data really came from. A small smile spread across her soft featured face, but it was almost instantly wiped away by the more serious expression she more than always wore. Kino sat, waiting for Jerome's voice, or for the machine to do whatever the switches did when activated...whichever of the two came first.

Jerome watched, hiding his surprise at how well Kinokiita followed his instructions, as if she was responding instinctively. He also remembered that little bit of sorrow or guilt that he briefly discerned and mentally noted to check on her personal file later.

He felt rather than heard the power plant rumbling. The only difference with an actual start up was that the sound was a bit more...suppressed, which wasn't too surprising, since the battery was only operating at a fraction of its capacity and that all the hydraulics did not engage as well. Then the three main screens lit up, followed by the readouts along all the other small auxillary screens. It first showed the real-time footage of the launch bay. Then the images fizzled as the data feed began to roll in. The screen displayed an open runway, simulating that of a nearby Orb air base. There were some buildings off in the distance but not other visible obstacles close by.

Then he heard Kinokiita softly speak. It was then that he detected a mix of emotions from her: awe, amazement, uncertainty, and gratitude. He grinned as he recalled the very first time he was able to work in an actual GINN. Even though he was older than most other cadets at the time, his instructors described them 'as giddy as little boys'.

"You're welcome. But you haven't experienced anything yet..." he replied mischievously, as he tapped several more sequences into the keypad. The designation on the top right of the center HUD (Heads-Up Display) changed from the MBF-M1-X9 to the MBF-M1. The armaments list changed as well.

"Okay, obviously the three main display panels set up in an 120 degree arc are your main 'eyes' to the world. The smaller screen above the central HUD is your rear-view HUD. The small screens below the main HUDs are all for basic readouts, like thruster output, gyroscope stability, battery power, etc. Your central HUD contains your sensor map..." he said as he pointed to the circle at the top left of the screen, "...and your list of armaments and their ammunition count at the bottom right."

"I set the mobile suit data to convert it from the experimental type to a standard M1 Astray, with standard ground combat load. The two control sticks on your left and right generally manipulate the Astray's torso and arms. Sliding the sticks forward will activate your thrusters, but don't bother with that for now. Note that you have several foot pedals as well. Let's start by carefully tapping the two large foot pedals alternately, as if you were walking," he instructed, eager to see how she handles the suit.

She too felt the startup of the power plant as well before she actually heard it...was this normal? She looked questioningly at Jerome but, seeing the expression on his face, decided it was normal enough. If Jerome wasn't looking confused, then it all must be normal....right now, Jerome was her eyes, her leader, her guardian. He was her safety blanket, but, in a strange sense, he was also her Conscience.

Once again, she soaked up everything he was telling her...the monitors, the HUD, the joysticks, and what each one of them was designed to do. She especially was intrested in the monitors below the main HUD that displayed the readouts of different functions. It was weird, because she understood alot of it yet she hadn't even been inside or analyzed data FROM a Mobile Suit as of yet....it was amazing what one could do when one determindly self-trains oneself. Kino began reading the data, her heart rate increasing. This was amazing! Every time she saw data like this, she couldn't help her excitement! Kinokiita then realized that she was staring at one monitor. Blushing slightly, she cleared her throat in embarrasment and then turned her gaze towards the joy sticks. Her hands did not stray to them as Jerome had told her not to touch as of now. He then began telling her about the various pedals near her feet, and she nodded.

"Let's start by carefully tapping the two large foot pedals alternately, as if you were walking,"

Kino nodded, her hand gripping the side of the seat so hard that her knuckles were white. This was it.... Kino took a deep breat, and began. 'Easy is as easy goes...' Kino began telling herself mentally, 'Nice and gentle...' Kino's dress-shoed feet began pushing down the two main pedals gentley, easing them down one at a time until she had worked up a precise rhythm to it. Up, down, up down, softly at first, but a little tad bit more forceful after the pedals had gained some momentum. Kino's mouth twitched in a smile... so far so good, eh? The pedals reacted almost at her slightest touch, and it was almost like she were treating them as equals: Not one pedal got an excess of force over the other, but instead, the force was precisely equal on both. Kino made sure she kept it slow though...she was a newbie at this kind of thing, and she didn't want to go any faster than she needed to.

"Like this, Mensalien-sensei?"

There she went again. Jerome had been nice to her, had given her this rare opportunity, and was guiding her like a pro. She had a tad bit of trust in him now....it was up to Jerome if he wanted to expand on that trust. If he did? Well then....lets just say he'd have a very valuable and loyal friend.

((Sorry for the shortness. >.<))

Jerome watched impassively as Kinokiita absorbed all of the data flowing in. There was a lot of data being fed in, even for something as simple as walking forward. He also noticed that she was a bit too absorbed with the readouts for a brief moment, but he didn't say a word.

He saw the suit move forward in a precise, if slow, manner. He could tell from the way she sat that she was carefully controlling the pedals. Unfortunately, since the suit itself wasn't moving in real-time, they couldn't feel the suit's footfalls. Jerome knew that the facility's simulator pods could do a better job but the cockpits for those pods weren't as thorough as the real thing.

"You're doing pretty well. Obviously, if you want to move left or right, just simply apply more pressure on one pedal over the other. The two pedals near the middle is for reverse movement; the mechanics are the same," he explained further as he tapped several more buttons on the nearby console.

"I just locked the thruster controls. You can use the control sticks; note that they can be rotated from their fixed position in order to manipulate the arms. Okay..." he continued to say as he hit a few more keys. Suddenly, three Astrays painted in blue appeared 200 meters in front of them. One of them blasted upwards and then hovered at a height of about 40 meters.

"Use your right control stick and move the arm so that you aim the Type 71 Beam Rifle at the targets. This recticle," he says firmly as he points to the crossed circle on the HUD, "represents the direction in which your rifle is aimed at. I want you to simply aim at each Astray. Your computer will engage in an auto-lock at each target you aim, as long as you hold the reticule steady on each target. So aim and achieve auto-locks on all three Astrays, one at a time."

"She should be able to do this easily...though I never thought that I would take anyone on a crash-course in mobile suit piloting today..." he thought for a moment, unsure what to make of himself and this extremely talented girl.

EDIT: Went back and changed a few minor things. ^^;

Kino listened to his explinations, though her mind was elsewhere. Kino had the amazing ability to, even if she was engaging someone else in conversation, be able to collect and follow through with information and instructions tht someone else was telling her. Flawlessly. Why was this? WHo knew? Perhapse it was due to her inate ability to multitask? All she knew was that she was able to do it.

As Jerome's voice filled her mind, her eyes studied all of the machinery...this would probably be the last time she ever saw the cockpit of a Mobile Suit. She wasn't anything special...she was an analasyst, nothing more. Why SHOULD she see the inside of the cockpit ever again? Her calculative green gaze washed over the monitors, the joysticks, the pedals....where had all of this technology come from? Trial and error she supposed.... it was impossible for Technology such as this to merely SPRING from the depths of the Earth, or even space for that matter....but it had to come from somewhere.

Almost as if Kino was in a trance, her right hand found the joystick that Jerome spoke of as he told her about what he wanted her to do. Without a word, Kino began moving the joystick upwards and at an angle as to stedy the recticle at the three Astrays. One by one, they fell victim to her aim, the lock on engaging almost as soon as her recticle strayed near the target. The thing was, Kino wasn't even looking at that monitor, for she was still looking at the readout monitor. HOW was she doing that you ask? Simple.

Photographic Memory. Kino had taken a look at the monitor, and it had all but burned an image of it into her mind. She knew that in real combat the other MS's wouldn't stay still like the three Astrays were now, but she was reading the other monitor at the time....she knew it was wrong, and after the third one had been locked on to she immediately returned her gaze towards the monitor with the recticle on it. She looked up and behind her at Jerome, guilt filling her eyes.

"Sorry about that, Sensei.... the readouts are... well they're quite amazing. Of course they are....this is a mobile suit..." The last of her sentance was more directed to nothing than Jerome, and Kino's eyes locked back onto the main monitor again. She wouldn't look at the readout monitor again unless asked to... she had will power!

...

Right? Willpower....yeaaaah...

Jerome was amazed at how Kinokiita was able to absorb all of the oncoming information along with her seemingly intuitive feel for piloting. He once again reminded himself to do a background check on her.

He watched as she quickly attained auto-lock status on all three Astrays, but he noticed she had done some through memorization. He winced a bit, since relying on memory, especially for potential hostile targets was dangerous. He speculated that she was able to do so easily since the targets WERE stationary.

He then realized she was looking at him, guilt evident in her eyes.

Sorry about that, Sensei.... the readouts are... well they're quite amazing. Of course they are....this is a mobile suit..."he heard her say, as she mumbled the last bit.

He patted her shoulder reassuringly again, saying, "You're doing fine. Most starting pilots tend to focus more on the main HUD monitors rather than the readouts, though I admit, I never encountered someone who did vice versa. Just remember that it is a balance; you must be able to focus on your manual controls, your readouts, and your main monitors at the same time...and that's just from a basic pilot's perspective. Commanders in combat get it even worse, they have to focus on even more variables. Anyways, you can release the controls, I just want to set something quick..."

He hit several more keys and changed the simulation. The monitors and techincal readouts faded for a brief moment then lighted up. They were back in the launch bay and the configuration was set as the Blitzkrieg. But the mobile suit was moving toward the edge of the launch bay.

"Don't bother with any of the controls. I just set up simulation data for one of my previous combat tests. Just take it easy and observe all aspects of the simulation," Jerome instructed.

He grinned as he recalled everything that happened during the test. It was an aerial combat test that took place over a nearby forest. Drones were set up with low powered beam weapons and a data emitter that relayed directly to the Blitzkrieg, allowing the drones to show up as whatever mobile suit it was programmed to appear as on the Blitzkrieg's HUD.

He flew in to the test zone when he was suddenly attacked by a wave of three Astray Shrikes. He dove low, using the trees as coveras the Astrays fired ineffectively at him. Then he side-strafed and then fired his gatling beam cannon. He was able to knock out two out of three Shrikes before the cannon reached overheat status. Jerome let the cannon shift back to its holding brace on the suit's right hip as it cooled down. He dodged and weaved until he got up close to the last Shrike before slicing it in half with a quick, lateral swing of his beam saber.

After a minute, his sensors went off, indicating more hostiles inbound. He read the designation: MFV-M11C. Murasames. He saw them approach from above in their mobile armor mode; swarming and blasting away with their Type 72 beam cannon. Jerome jerked the throttle around, causing his suit to twist and then spin three full revolutions as he descended into the trees. His eyes were pinned on the main HUD as he weaved through the trees at nearly full throttle. Then he heard a series of whooshing noises before his sensors flashed red.

Missile lock. He kept twisting and dodging around, using the trees as a set of shields. Then his sensors pinged, indicated that six out of eight missiles detonated premature to target. But he found himself over ocean as he ran out of forest, just as another missile detonated. He saw the last missile zipping in and he knew he didn't have time to dodge it. He manipulated his reticule and then pressed the auxillary weapon trigger. His Blitzkrieg's head-mounted twin 70mm CIWS blazed away as he flew backwards away from the missile. Two of the shells managed to nick the missile, knocking it off-course and into the water.

Then he boosted up to engaged the two Murasames, which transformed to mobile suit mode. He re-equipped his gatling beam cannon and strafed to the right, firing while avoiding the enemies' beam cannon fire. A salvo of beam swiss-cheesed one of the Murasame's legs until both limbs were nothing but metal tatters. The other Murasame boosted out of the way while continuing to fire at the Blitzkrieg's flank. Jerome saw the warning message that shot up, indicating damage to the suit. A quick glance at the integrity readout indicated that the beam lacerated the suit's left arm. Everything from the elbow on down was 'gone.'

But he knew he didn't have time to worry about that. He boosted straight up, just in time to avoid several more beams from the last Murasame, but he knew it was a close call as one of the beams shot past in front of him. He quickly flew away for a moment and then performed a Split S, rolling his Blitzkrieg inverted and then executed a half-loop to return to a level flight, straight at the Murasame. He was too close for the Murasame to continue using its beam rifle, so it quickly switched to its beam saber. It flew in and slashed horozontally at him, but he quickly boosted over the energy blade. Then, nearly wrenching the right control stick out, he slammed the gatling straight down into the head of the Murasame. It crumpled in like a watermelon and as an extra measure, Jerome thumbed the trigger. A flurry of beams shot straight into the Murasame, causing it to spasm and twitch. Then Jerome pulled the cannon out and boosted away just before the Murasame exploded in mid-air.

Then the HUD flashed "COMBAT TEST COMPLETE. Return to Base."

[OOC: Okay...that was a wee bit lengthy. But I did that recollection bit to help you reply with your character's own reactions to the simulation, Kino. ^^]

Kino listened to Jerome, as always, and took in what he was saying, yet this time she was looking directly at him to let him know she was listening...it was rude of her beforehand, and she bowed her head slightly in apology for that time. Now his words of wisdom about equal attention to all monitors entered her mind, and stuck there like a splinter in flesh. Her mind then kicked into overdrive. 'Watch ALL monitors...ALL of them Kino!' she began thinking to herself, 'Imagine they are friends...no one deserves more attention than another...' She made this analogy and, as Jerome finished speaking, her eyes fell on all monitors at once. By staring at one, she could see most of them from her periferal vision, and had to only tilt her head slightly to see the others. This was good...it meant more visibility on her part.

Kino's eyes flickered towards Jerome as he began messing with buttons again, and he also began speaking to her once more. Data faded, replaced by the launch bay view. The suit suddenly began moving towards the bay door, and instinctively, Kino's hands and feet shot to the controls. Then Jerome's voice allayed her fears....it was simulation data collected by him previously...whew. She sat back, still a tad uptight and uneasy as the simulation began.

She was suddenly in the midst of battle, Astrays coming at her from all angles. Her hand raised as if to grab the control joystick, but then tentatively eased away from it. It was only simulation data....merely simulation data. She was in no danger....none at all....but DAMN this felt real! The Suit's cannon fired and nearly overheated, and then dodged oncoming attacks. Kino's hand was clenched tightly at her sides, her eyes staring hard at the monitors. In her mind, she was screaming commands for the suit. Surprisingly, it was as if the suit was responding to her shouts, because as she was thinking of things to do in the situation presently, it was what Jerome had done while collecting this data. Instincts? Maybe.

They were now in the forest, ducking dodging and weaving in order to evade a missle lock. Before she knew it, they were in open skies before....explosions! Her eyes immediately shot to the data readouts and she realized with a start of horror that the Blitzkrieg's arm had been blown off from the elbow down! She dared not breath...everything was so real, and she had to keep telling herself that it was just data...just simulation data. Even so... a whole appendige had been blown clear of the mobile suit she sat in the cockpit of. It was just a taaaaad hard not to simply react. However, being the collected and intelligent person she was, she staved off from reacting besides her white knuckles clutching the sides of her seat. Hey...she was young yet....and no one was perfect, right?

The last enemy exploded in mid air, and if Jerome was listening carefully, he would have heard Kino exhale gently in a soft sigh. She sat back gently in the chair, reading the final stages of data while paying attention to the other monitors. She then looked up into Jerome's face.

She was completely speachless.

OOC: Hope you guys don't mind me joining in, but its been a while since I got to RP as my Kai Zergas character; and even longer since I got to RP with anyone from Orb wink.gif

Kai Zergas covered his mouth with his hand as he yawned loudly; he had just spent most of the night on a direct shuttle flight from Heliopolis to Morgenroete. After having taken a leave of absence to recover from his wounds, Kai had been assigned to return to the Morgenroete facility to look over some new suit designs. After having worked on the Akatsuki and Strike Rouge, he had gained some prestige among the other technicians, and was being sent designs to go over on an almost weekly basis.

He was dressed in the standard uniform worn by Morgenroete employees, and was looking at a list of mobile suits that he had been assigned to work on. His shoulder length black hair swished slightly as he looked from the list to the launch bay in front of him. Brown eyes caught the light relflected off the sign on the bay, and he read the words out loud,

"Launch Bay 18C..... There's supposed to be a new Astray design in there, and the cheif mechanic is Alicia Mackwell.... I guess this will do for starters...."

Kai entered the bay slowly, keeping out of the way of most of the Morgenroete employees until he made his way to the chief mechanic. After a brief conversation, he was told to find a Mr. Jerome Mensalien, as he had been the most recent pilot of the suit in question; the MBF-M1-X9 Astray Blitzkrieg.

Kai found the Blitzkrieg easily enough, and judging by the way that the suit's eyes were lit, he figured that Jerome was doing some kind of practice simulation. He decided to sit down at the foot of the modified Astray suit and wait for the test pilot to finish his simulation before introducing himself..

(OOC: thanks for the heads-up; I didn't know that you were in the cockpit along with Kino, my bad sad.gif )
