Saturday morning detention, <Ratree, Lupin>

[Quentin Neros]

"This sucks," Quentin growled to himself as he made his way along to the DADA classroom for detention. It was Saturday morning and he was still rubbing the sleep out of his eyes; he usually slept in on Saturdays so getting up early was not something he liked doing. The fact it was detention with Ratree made it even worse. His mood getting worse by the moment, he reached the classroom, entered and took a seat while he waited for the others to arrive.

[Meow]

Ratree groan inwardly as she stepped into the DADA classroom. It was bad enough doing detention with that slime ball, but seeing him arrived earlier than her annoyed her even more. Ratree gave him the evil eye as she walked past him.

She pulled a chair away from a table, making sure that it was as far away from Quentin as possible.

[Quentin Neros]

When Ratree entered, Quentin made a point of sniffing the air. "Oh, it's you, that explains the smell," he sneered. "For a second I thought a blast-ended skrewt had been sick in the hall."

[Meow]

"Really ? I thought the smell was emitting from you instead, it was in the air before I come in. The smell of moldy cheese, that's the reason why I'm sitting far away from you as possible. Besides, I don't want your slime to rub off me." Ratree said nonchalantly.

[Remus Lupin]

"Please, stop. The sexual tension between you two is unbearable," Lupin said as he walked into the classroom from his office. He was known to have a good sense of humor, but such a mean-spirited joke was out of character for him and showed just how frustrated he was with these two.

[Quentin Neros]

Quentin scowled. "Fine. Why don't you tell us what we're doing? Professor," he added as an afterthought with as much disdain as he could put into the word.

[Remus Lupin]

"What you'll be doing -- and you probably should have guessed this -- is teamwork," Lupin said, waving his wand and Vanishing the desks. "You won't need to be seated for this," he said. "In fact, being seated will likely get you killed. Come with me." He headed for his office, not checking back to see whether they were following.

[Meow]

Ratree followed Professor Lupin grudgingly out of the class, still feeling very contaminated by the words “sexual tension”

“If I want to have any copulation with a toad I would have look at the bottom of a swamp.” Ratree muttered to herself, as she shot Quentin a disgusted look.

[Quentin Neros]

Quentin let out a groan at the word 'teamwork'. Lupin, you should've been a Slytherin, he thought to himself.

Getting up, he followed Lupin towards his office, pausing only long enough to reply to Ratree. "Spoken like someone who's got a lot of experience of searching through the swamp for a boyfriend."

[Remus Lupin]

"Stop it, before I start to hope that this Ōmukade eats you," Lupin said over his shoulder. The reference to the giant, flesh-eating centipede in his office -- which, with a Space-Enlargement Charm on it, looked much different than his office usually looked -- would hopefully be enough to shut these two up.

[Quentin Neros]

The professor's warning cut Quentin off before he could throw out another smart remark. As much as he usually hated to take orders, the gigantic man-eating insect was enough to even shut him up.

[Meow]

“You stinky…” Ratree stopped in mid sentence as she saw the giant centipede wiggling in the office. “Oh no, this is…this is the Ōmukade ? But…but you can’t have an Oni in the school! It’s forbidden, you should know this isn’t in the same class as Kappas and Will-o'-the-wisp right, Professor ?” Ratree said, as she tried to back off towards the door, and willing desperately that this one is not a female.

[Remus Lupin]

"I know how dangerous it is," Lupin said. "Although this one is male, and its poison glands have been removed, so you should be able to handle it as long as the two of you work together. I'll intervene eventually if you get into more trouble than you can handle, but if that trouble is the result of you not working together as a team, I'll wait until you've got some permanent scars. If you are successful in both the teamwork and the defeating the monster aspects of this exercise, you will earn back all the House Points that Gryffindor and Slytherin lost as a result of your altercation, plus an additional twenty points each."

Gryffindor and Slytherin were currently the top two houses in the points race, so coming out on top after this detention would sound really inviting to both Ratree and Quentin. "Now, before I remove the Confundus Charm from your opponent and allow it to sense your presence, I'm going to permit you to talk -- nicely -- amongst yourselves and come up with a strategy for beating it. Any arguing or name-calling will result in it attacking you before you're ready. You have two minutes. Go."

[Quentin Neros]

Just before Lupin finished talking, Quentin cast a silent Muffliato on himself and took the opportunity to turn his back and let out a torrent of unpleasant language as loud as he could, safe in the knowledge that the other two couldn't hear him. He dropped it a few seconds later and turned back to Ratree. "Right. Fine. Any ideas on strategy?" he muttered, feeling a little better for getting some of his anger out first.

[Meow]

Ratree was relieve by the reassurance that this one was not a female, and the idea of gaining 20 points for Gryffindor was too much to resist, swallowing her pride she said

“You’ll try to distract him with the Leg-locker curse, while I’ll creep up behind him and use depulso on him. Centipedes are especially vulnerable to the Leg-locker curse, seeing that their legs are very sensitive. But then with a centipede this big, I’m not sure how good it’ll works. Well, what do you think ?”
