Hmm. Usually when a cat's going on the floor instead of in the litter box something is wrong. Have you taken them to the vet?

Anyway, the reason I asked whether you have cats is because my parents had cats when my mom was pregnant with me, and one of them decided that my crib was its new bed as they were setting up the nursery. Though this is a problem that might come up for you too, rest assured there was surprisingly little conflict between me and the cat once I came along... in fact, he continued sleeping in the crib with me only because he had appointed himself my bodyguard by that point in time (I think JKR based Sir Cadogan's personality off of him... he also took on a full-grown Doberman once).

My cats might just have to learn to start spending some time outside when mine comes along. I've heard many stories about cats smothering babies. My little black one probably wouldn't be a problem, but the fat orange one... eh lol. I'm sure they'd be fine, but I don't really want them sleeping in there... just the hair shedding itself would bother me haha

I've heard of cats smothering babies before too, so do what you think is best. My parents apparently thought the same way I do -- that the thing about cats smothering babies is a superstitious old wives' tale -- and letting the cat sleep in my room worked out fine, but for all I know it might be exceedingly weird that that cat didn't smother me so your caution could be warranted.

lol, it might just be a wait and see kind of thing. I'm betting mine won't be a problem, but who can predict the future. Right now, I'm more worried about them trying to use her as a scratching post rather than sleep on her. We've been planning on having them declawed, we just haven't been able to afford it yet. Someday lol...

Plus, it's mean.

But it saves my furniture! lol. and me, for that matter. We give them a bath every once in a while, Heath has to wear his heavy duty work gloves to do it, otherwise his hands get shredded. At least, that's how it is with the orange one. Munchie, the black one, just kinda sits there, like, whatever, get it over with. They're so opposite in personality its amazing they don't fight all the time.

Orange: Afraid to go outside, afraid of basically everything. Put a toy mouse on the floor that you pull the string and it moves, he'll run away.

Black: Loves outside (I'm just worried she won't come back, the little turd). Not necessarily afraid of the mouse, but won't touch it till it stops moving. I'm sure if it was a real live mouse she'd be all over it lol. Luckily I haven't seen any of those in the house though. I'm not afraid of mice. Used to have a couple as pets. But I don't want wild ones living in my house. Yick.

Sounds like Lucy (my cat). Yes, my cat's name is Lucy Frost. Sound familiar?

lol, I think you actually told me that once. Sadly, Munchie is the only one of the two that actually has a designated name. It varies between Monkey and Munchkin sometimes, but she actually answers to any of those three. The orange one on the other hand, doesn't really have a name. We got him from somebody else who had deemed him, ugh, Chester. Stupid, ugly common name for an orange cat. Every orange cat I've ever seen is named Chester. So we quickly dropped that. But never settled on any one name. So he is whatever we think of at the time, whether its bastard, or stupid, or butthead... whatever he's acting like lol. I guess most common is buddy, but he doesn't really answer to anything, so it doesn't matter. He thinks he's the king, but he's the biggest pansy on the planet. Munchie got her name cuz she's so dang small, and she used to climb up my body and sit on my shoulder while I did dishes when we first got her. She's gotten too big to do that now, but yeah, monkey and munchkin... munchie.

Weird... I've never heard of an orange cat named Chester. I've heard of Pumpkin, Garfield, and Heathcliff (fairly common), Crookshanks and Orange (only encountered once each, and yes, Crookshanks does look a lot like Hermione's cat), and the two that I had growing up, Annie (she got the name before I was born, I don't know the significance) and her son Pliffy (I don't remember how he got such a bizarre name either, but he was a freakazoid so it kind of fit). But no Chesters.

Lucy came to me from the SPCA already named, and since she answered to it I decided not to change it (even though Dot or Spot would fit, because of the black markings behind her ears).

Hmmm... maybe chester is just a local hick thing. who knows. oh well. I obviously don't like it lol.

People always ask me if I got my dogs name from that dumb nickelodeon show, "fairly odd parents." his name is Cozmo... and no, that's not where I got it. His hyperness exceeds the cozmos lol. seriously, we had a snowmachine that we'd borrowed for the day, and he'd chase us as we rode it. we ran him for 3 hours straight, and he was still bouncing all over the place when we were done! He's never calm... he even twitches when he sleeps.

That's a good name for him, then. Kramer on Seinfeld's first name was Cosmo, and he was rather twitchy too.

lol, I used to watch that show... the episode where they learn his name is Cosmo is one of my favorites.
