I think it depends on the story, too- if someone writes an exceptional story, you might get an award for that. Especially if it happens to be one of the best you've written...

Um...I would say so, but i'm only a mod. Talk to Blue.
And btw, Blue=WyndiWindfall. I shall tell you that once and for all, just so you know what i'm talking about. (When i first met her, she went by Bluewater26, so...)

Okay....
I almost want to shove my long story up here as a nomination, but that's mostly because I'm still secretly hoping one or both of you will get all the way through it. But poor zookie, brave soul that she is to have even attempted it, already ran down and had to stop after the first 30,000 words or so.... ;.; That said, it is probably the best I've written, despite being not quite done yet. Although the beginning might need revision, and stuff....
And also it seems -- I dunno, probably pretentious (again).

I'LL FINISH READING IT...someday. I promise. *nod* Actually, my dad's gonna run a cable under the house to my computer, so hopefully it'll be up and running in the next couple of days...And then, of course, comes Christmas Break, so i'm thinking i should have some free time to continue reading it.
And...um...don't hurt me or anything, but...I actually think, of any of your work, poetry is really your medium. Your story's good and all, but i think some of your old work is where you really shine. Especially (and this one was always my favorite), 'Behind Their Eyes' ...or something like that. Don't exactly remember the title, but it's a good poem.

Why would I hurt you? o.o And don't worry about getting it finished, it's flattering enough that you got as far as you did.
Heh, I actually think you're right when it comes to the first half of that story. You stopped right around the point in the fic where I picked it back up after a two-year hiatus. The beginning was a lot less good than the end, in my opinion, and I often like my poetry better. I know which poem you're talking about -- that one was one of my favorites. ^^
Part of the reason I'm so proud of my long fic is that it does start to reflect where I really am as a writer by the time you get to the last few completed chapters, and also I'd never finished more than two chapters on a fic before this one, so it was a big accomplishment for me to get so far. It's really starting to take off as a story; I'm pretty obsessed with it, actually. ^^; Sometimes I don't know how people get past the first three or four chapters, since I'm pretty sure they're borderline sucky, but I think it comes together really well at around chapter 10 or so. And also things in chapter 13 tie in with the very beginning...
It's just that poetry comes naturally to me, but I had to work really hard for the story to come out any good at all. That's why I'd never nominate my poetry for anything -- it seems like a cop-out.

Y'knoooooww...I went back and reread some of your poetry the other day, and it seems i smushed two of your poems together. My favorites are 'Their Eyes' and...er...crap...um, QUOTE TIME!
'Raven-haired and agate-eyed, Life on loan and death defied, Strength concealed and youth belied, Dare you think to tame?
Eyes of bronze and hidden smile, Facing life and death's denial, Never faltering all the while, Could you say the same?'
Can only remember those full verses but, hey, that was still ALL FROM MEMORY, YO. I like that poem. AND- Stubborness and its campanion piece. And why am i talkng about this now? I don't know. But, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! *glomp* Hope you guys had a good one. (If that's your thing, y'know...)
