The Gary-Stu and Mary-Sue Trash Bin, Learn from your mistakes.

At one time or another, most of us have probably created a Gary-Stu or Mary-Sue. In this thread, you can talk about them and hopefully figure out where we went wrong.

This was my first (and thank the deities, only) Mary-Sue:
Name: Aikiko Nagasaki
My Age When He/She Was Created: 11
Series: Yu Yu Hakusho
Type of Sue: Angst!Sue, Hiei!Sue, Orphan!Sue, Cliche!Sue, Abused!Sue, Fairytale!Sue
Background (which I barely remember): As a baby, Aikiko was slashed by a blood demon (don't ask) and ended up with a giant scar on her tummy. Strenuous activity or the reappearance of the blood demon causes the scar to react and hurt painfully.
After Aikiko's father wins a bet against the blood demon (who is in human form), the blood demon decides to kill off Aikiko's family--somehow, Aikiko survives with aforesaid scar.
Aikiko gets adopted by the rich Nagasaki family, who abuse her. She gets sick of it and runs away. For some mysterious reason, she is unaffected by trauma, even after all the stuff I've piled on her head. O.o
When Sue Meets Characters: The YYH gang are apparently sent to protect her from the blood demon. They take her to Genkai's temple after her scar reopens, where it is almost healed by Yukina and Genkai.
There, she begins to learn how to use a dagger. Hiei is stuck with the burden of teaching her, and afterwards, baby-sitting her.

That's as far as I got. I never posted it anywhere, so thank the deities for that.

*is zookie* Well, that doesn't sound so bad...*sweatdrop*

My first character into the world of YYH was actually a self-insert. No super-special powers or anything (at least...not at first. O.o), and fairly realistic insofar as my being absolutely useless in a fight (One of the four; Watch out!! Me; What? Them; *cuts down the impressively-clawed demon behind me* *gives me disparaging look*).

Not so realistic in the circumstances or the villain or, in fact, the method of GETTING to the villain.

My first real Mary-Sue was Kayla, i'm sorry to say. I still use her all the time, 'cause i really like her, but I am NOT posting a profile of her because then Blue would know how exactly it is that she started out as a Mary-Sue. (My solution for de-Sue-ifing your characters: join a new site where no one knows you and never act Sue-ish. I think i've progressed nicely with her, actually.)

Name: Jazzabelle
My Age When He/She Was Created: 10? 12
Series: Unfortunately, it was Original..... *dies in shame*
Type of Sue: Angst, Cliche, Oxymoronic
Background: Jazzabelle was raised by an emotionally distant mother, and had a brother who had aspirations of becoming someone "big" in the world. Jazzabelle never had to try at schools or sports but she always seemed to get it right. Then she meets this guy at school and they hit it off, and he's quite the rich-o smart-o type (actually, he's a Stu, ironic, ne?) and he whisks her off and they get married and have kids and live to a ripe old age &c.

Fortunately for my own sense of dignity, I only have one Sue, but here she is.

Name: Jesanae Tekani
My Age When He/She Was Created: 13
Series: Digimon
Type of Sue: Angst!Sue, Cliche!Sue, Abused!Sue, Tough!Sue
Background (which I barely remember): Abused by her parents, she ran away and lived on the streets for nearly a year before becoming Digidestined, somewhat after the fact (after Hikari, even; and I never really explained why that was).
When Sue Meets Characters: She ends up in the Digital World in the normal fashion, and runs into Yamato in the middle of the night. She doesn't have a Digimon until very late in the fic, for another unknown and unexplained reason. She hits it off with Yamato, cue random romance. She plays the violin, can sing, knows basic martial arts, can use a knife, and is extremely sarcastic!witty. Has yellow eyes for no real reason.

I killed her off in the end of the fic, resurrected her for a few chapters of a sequel (which thankfully took a nosedive), and then got to watch her reincarnated in my friend's fanfiction about nine times. I even tried to salvage the fic with a massive rewrite, but it failed miserably to make her any less Sue-ish. Unfortunately for me, her fic got posted in several places, and is still posted in one (as a favor to the friend in question). I took the name to remind me of how horrid my writing can be if I'm not careful. >.>
