For those of you on XP SP1 who want a feel of nostalgia, go to the run dialog and type in progman. Unfortunately, this was disabled in SP2.

Sweet I had a 3.11 system a while ago, upgraded to 95 and then had it fail after I sold it to my friend.

[FONT=Optima][COLOR=green]I too remeber windows 3.11, it was so much better then regular old DOS. My family was cutting edge w/ the Aol 3.0 (it was the key box, the lightning box, and then the lit up AOL logo). Ever since then we were upgrading every couple of years. My father was smart and waited for 98SE to come out before upgrading to that.

I purchased XP Home in Dec of 2001 and installed it shortly there after (lots of mulling it over in my head). But I dual booted just for inshurance. I dual booted up until the begining of 2003 just because i was concerned with compatiblity issues. I eventualy got XP Pro by edited.gif edited.gif edited.gif edited.gif edited.gif and never looked back. There's a few problems w/ XP now. Maybe it's because of all the tweaks I do to it but right now my user profile crashes windows everytime i try openning a windows media file. And system roll back only works, sometimes. But over all, it's better then 98 was

Hey Mark, I'm curious? Did you purchase XP upgrade (or OEM) cd's for each machine? Otherwise, Mr. Gates wouldn't be very happy with you. just kiddin' man :-).

We used to have an old computer that never got used, nor was it ever connected to the Internet, that had Windows Millenium Edition on it. Then about two years ago I built my own PC and installed XP on it. I really like XP a lot. I also purchased a Microsoft Office cd from my school's bookstore for $80. I think this was about $100 off a brand new retail box, or thereabouts. I think you don't get any warranty coverage for that price, that's why it's so cheap. Something like that. It came with publisher, which makes some pretty nifty handouts, and Microsoft Word and all that. I also like the newest version of Word much better than the previous edition.

QUOTE (ccanni1028 @ Aug 16 2005, 10:16 PM)
I miss 3.11. I used to have it before getting a new PC with Win98 a few years ago.

I remember using DOS very well when I was running 3.1.

No one still using Windows 3.1?! I still remember that episode of The Screen Savers where a couple of people emailed in and said that they still used it.

I have been on XP Home on both my tower and laptop since 2001. I upgraded to SP2 ~2 months after it went public. I figure 2 months gives them enough time to get out the major bugs that are found in the very beginning, and I just make sure I have automatic updates turned on.

I just got a new laptop for school and got XP Pro on it. I am used to XP Pro through work though. My favorite thing about my new laptop is that I got Office 2003 on it.

So, this is the sub-forum where I can tell how much I love these new XPs we just got, huh? Cool, I'm ready to share!

I know I've been behind times when it comes to upgrading, but hey, until it just couldn't work anymore for nearly everything we had to do, I was happy with that old Windows 98SE. But, since the Internet is rapidly advancing in its technology, I had to keep upgrading the software to keep up with the Internet.

Finally, it got to the point hardly anything would work on the 98 because all the newer versions and latest software is for XP or OSX. So, I had no choice, I had to upgrade my machines and the operating systems on them. But you know what?

I am so glad I did!!! clap.gif I mean, it's like a whole 'nother world, now!

Hey, just out of curiosity...since Chris made this sub-forum for topics like this, I got a question for you. Are you still using Windows 98, 2000, or ME? If you aren't and have already graduated to XP, how long have you been using XP? I'm just curious. I sort of want to know - in comparison - how much of a late-comer I really am. huh.gif
