I found and purchased an old ATX case at the local junk store. It was made back in 1999 and had a Pentium iii 650 main board (working) and a nice little surprise in the top 5.25in bay.

A NewQ Gold DSP audio amp/equalizer:

I had to plug in a power plug to find out if it worked and it turned out to be in fine condition. There isn't a lot if info available on the internet about this device, but I did learn that it will take a two speaker system and apply "tru-surround" effects to the audio.
The virtual surround thing was popular at the time that this hardware was sold but I'm pretty sure that inexpensive Dolby 5.1 and 7.1 have replaced the trick audio effects of the past.

Anyhow, long story short was that I liked the cosmetic look of the NewQ gold so much that I put it in my new Intel quad core system. It's vacuum fluourescence display still looks good almost ten years later. I have plans to rewire the microphone and headphone jacks in the near future.
