Yeah, seems like the whole podcasting world was pretty much a fad. Not entirely, but it looks like it may never get beyond the tech elite crowd, which quite frankly isn't very big. Podcasting had a huge head of steam when it came out of the gate, and now it's dwindled. I still download all my podcasts, although I don't listen to some of them, like KFI Tech Guy or Security Now. I download about 8, including Sarah Lane's (soon to be Moran's) new video cast that she just started. Since Leo isn't paying for the bandwidth (AOL is) I figure I will continue to download the shows of his that I do just to support them and help their numbers. I quit downloading dl.tv because I don't have the time to watch it all. But I want to start watching it again soon. I'll make time.

Also, my favorite podcast quit producing shows all together. They said the same thing. After 35 episodes they said it started getting stale and felt more like a job. Said it was just time to put it down. I suppose we all get sick of things eventually. I wasn't happy about it, but their reasoning made perfect sense.

But I do still download and listen to every episode of 535 York. I have since podcast one. I'll just sum up by saying it was really fun to be a part of something like the podcast revolution. Perhaps if it wasn't for the destruction of TechTV, I never would have ever downloaded any. So some good things came out of the demise of TechTV. They're all doing their own thing. We need to move on too, I suppose. Don't want to, but TechTV will never return. bawl.gif

Someone on the TWiT (This Week in Tech) comments section mentioned a condition that shall heretofore be known as "pod fatigue" aka "pod fade".

After six months of doing the same thing with very little interest from group members, those of us who jumped on the podcasting bandwagon are having a hard time coming up with inspiration.

It was almost a relief to see that not even Leo and the TWiT panel are immune to a decay in quality and enthusiasm. Leo and his crew are busy trying to further their careers but what is our excuse?

Are we the strange ones for wanting to make a home brew talk radio program? Maybe we are just egomaniacs! We still want our TechTv but nobody besides us cares!!!

Perhaps as the HAL9000 said to Dave in 2001: A Space Odyssey, we should just sit down, take a stress pill and think things over...

The fact that most of us have different schedules and there are various other important things that compete for our time is part of the problem.

We need a rest. We need fresh material. We need guests!!!! It's time to start sending out those emails..but first...maybe a break..this whole thing is becoming more of a pain and less fun than before.

Could it be the weekly schedule? Is twice or even once a month more appropriate?
