Just to add to the list. Right now every first Sunday of the month, we have the ASIA-PACIFIC INTERNET GP on KURNIK. We can have a forum on this. Maybe some chit-chats and predictions. It can also serve as a reminder and encouragement for members to participate in the GP.

There could also be another forum where we discuss which is the next best move and we share our ideas together.

Let's make this forum prosper.

You have my support Jo.

yes, feng. I totally agree on what you said. Anyhow, I hope all MOA members join this forum & introduce themselves first before we do anything further. Hope to more & more people register as member. Thanks all.

I wanted to know what's your opinion regarding the future categories that I'm going to add in, so please give me your opinions. Thanks again.

AI vs. human
the history and the development of AI, the changing styles (including new styles) of human players.
PS: human players no longer can beat high AI programs due to their high calculation speed and huge data storage.

Of course I realized that human can't beat AI, but then, not many people have the confidence to play against AI in real life. For me, I'm very sensitive when it comes to people to cheat others while playing this game, because that's what you called "Bad Sportsmanship". I hope MOA members learn by mistakes and not by cheating.

From my experience, playing against AIs is one of the best way to improve my skills. It is not and should not be an important factor if you lose to an AI. One play with AIs does not mean he/her uses AIs to play with others which is what you called--cheating. It will with proves in the future, human has to follow or even remember the perfect moves make by AIs. Human can play with human and learn the moves, but it will take you a long time to "see" the results of one single move (last 30 moves usually). Many programs (high AI) provide you the variable moves and come with the best move(s). It makes me a lot easier to learn the game by checking out the variable moves and understand why the best move(s) is/are the best. If you are not confidence or just don't like to lose a lot, try to play some Java base Reversi games. They are fast but usually not very strong (can't do much due to the limitation of their file sizes). Of course, they won't help you as much as the programs I mentioned above from my points of view.

lol, I like losing to AI, but in the long run, it makes us feel like a loser in every game with play with it. anyway, I think I'm not qualified to say anything about this, coz I'm very lousy in Othello. biggrin.gif

I don't think Ben is strong enough to beat those AIs. I am not expecting myself to beat them, but learn from them, and so should you.

BTW, your skill is a lot better than mine when you play seriously.

If you win those bots, you are really strong at this time. you CAN NOT memorize all the moves, even using the most up-to-dated technology still can't find the best moves. Reversi remains unsloved, and it is the most interesting part of the game. It makes you possible to beat those bots, just very hard. I agree bots can improve our skills and that's what I am trying to tell all of you.

PS: some of the bots very lousy though.

lol,

I wouldn't stuck in the range of 1650 - 1750 if I'm as strong as you said I am.

I got an idea to make this forum more active, maybe not in the way of othello but keeping in touch. Let's have a spam/chit chat topic.
