Last year Jun Feng of Singapore won the inaugural on-line Asia Pacific Grand Prix. There will be a few changes this year : the time controls have been increased to 7mns/player and the number of rounds has been decreased to 7; also the total number of tournaments will be just 8 (from February to September). The scoring system will be the same with the top 4 tournaments counted in the total (but unlike last year, ties will not be resolved and points will be shared equally).
http://www.othello.asn.au/apgp06.htm The Asia Pacific GP is open to anyone from the Asia Pacific region (Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore etc...). Tournaments counting towards the APGP are held on Kurnik on the first Sunday of every month at 6pm Singapore time. The format this year will be seven rounds of seven minute games (7 minutes per player) and the tournament will run for eight months from February to September. The APGP uses the same scoring system as the European Grand Prix : each tournament awards 200, 140, 90, 60, 40, 30, 20, 15, 10, and 5 points to the top 10 finishers. Ties between players are not resolved and the points are shared equally rounded up to the nearest integer (so if 3 players are tied for 2nd place they each get (140+90+60)/3 = 97). Only the best 4 scores are counted towards the season total and in the case of a tie an extra round is counted in the total (best of five and if still tied, best of six, etc...). To participate in the APGP simply logon to Kurnik at least 5mns before a tournament is due to start and wait for a link to a "private tournament" to appear. Also to earn GP points you need to make sure that your profile indicates both your name and country (ask the Tournament Director if you are unsure on how to do that). |

Today, I look at the APGP 2006 website,
http://www.othello.asn.au/apgp06.htm I think that by no reason any other players can beat Lee Jun Feng (hello3407) score at this year tournament now. He got 200+200+200+140=740 (the four highest score count) and eventually had already become 2006 APGP champion. Congratulation !!! Jun Feng. Tomorrow, 20th August is the August edition of APGP. Malaysians and Singaporeans please join full force for this event. Cheers !!! |
