well i mentioned an advice above which i didnt explain at that time. i guess some of you have read it already, but maybe i should add it here again.

if you want to prevent cheating and have fun in a big group, do the following.

organise two (or three or four, depending on how far everyone is appart) big tournaments at one day and at a place with computers and internet connection
e.g. internet shop.
you should have at least one judge on both places so that he goes arround watching noone cheats or talks with neighbours.
you can just play a kurnik tournament or a ggs tournament. that way you dont need to cross the ocean, meet your friends (at least half of them) and play a fair tournament.
you just miss the part of the fun being flipping discs.

of course for this you need to make a date that fits for most everyone. if you cant do that, you might want to follow zip's idea. but i believe its hard to proof cheating there, and if someone is really eager to qualify for woc, who knows what he will do.
sure as long as you are a small buch of people who know each other (like 4-5) you can trust each other. but you certainly will know who are the top 3 and maybe wont even find 3 that actually can afford to go. but you certainly hope to get a bigger community (i have been hoping for germany too, but never really got it). wink.gif with that you might have one annoying player in there and that sucks big time, especially if some people feel cheated but cant proof. just my opinion.
i have thought of this idea because china has a similiar problem. not the ocean, but even longer distances wink.gif

Oh.. What do you mean by the example, China?

I feel that if players can meet and play OTB together, it will be the best. It involves a new experience. I remembered I was once at a lost when I was just playing OTB for the first time with other players. I knew it would be different but never expected the vast changes. I felt lost for moments and I didn't know where to put. laugh.gif In this case, there is a need to discuss the meeting venue and date. I seriously feel that this is needed. As for those who have the money to participate WOC, that will be another story.

The bottomline is that we will know who is the best few in MOA and have achieved our objective. cool.gif

in china you cant just make on big tournament. you will always have enough people complaining about the location.
there are many players in the south (guangzhou), many players in or near shanghai and some players in beijing. and of course you have some players spread all over china. you cant make a tourney that is reachable for all.
so you either make a grand prix of many tourneys to qualify or you try my suggested way to have tournaments on more locations and play online.
i have suggested that to the chinese community, but i dont think they actually considered it smile.gif

Well, perhaps til now everyone should have known Malaysia (MOA) representatives to Mito, Japan for WOC 2006. They are Ooi Jing Si (Stanley), Yan Leong Woo and Liew Yik Ming (Anthony).

Stanley and Leong Woo will fly from Kuala Lumpur to Japan while Anthony will fly directly from Singapore.

Let's cheers to the first ever Malaysian team to WOC.

Syabbas !!!
