Entrance Hall
Large, cavernous room, lit by torches, with ceiling so high it's barely visible. Wide marble staircase opposite the front doors (east wall) leads up to first floor. Double doors to the right (south wall) lead into the Great Hall. On the east wall are two doors, one on either side of the staircase. To the north of the staircase is a door leading down a flight of steps to the first dungeon level. To the south is a door leading to the Hufflepuff common room and the kitchens. On the left (north wall) is a door leading to a smaller antechamber where First Years wait to be sorted.

Care of Magical Creatures Classroom
This is perhaps one of the larger classrooms. There are creatures of all kinds, both loose and cages in this classroom. Magnificent double doors swing out to the yards where some of the larger creatures can be studied without bringing them into the classroom.

Great Hall
The Great Hall is a vast chamber with an enchanted ceiling which mirrors the sky outside. There are four long tables for the four houses to eat at. Closest to the doors from the Entrance Hall is Slytherin, then Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and next to the far wall, Gryffindor. The teachers sit at the High Table, a table on a raised platform at the front of the room. A door behind the staff table allows a person to enter the Great Hall from outside without going through the main entrance. At Christmas time the Great Hall is decorated lavishly with many trees, and a lot of candles. At other times of the year, above each table are banners with each house's colors and sigil.

Small Chamber
Located off the Entrance Hall, opposite the Great Hall, is a small Chamber in which the First Years wait to get sorted.

Staff Room
Located off the Entrance hall, two large stone gargoyles stand on either side of the door challenging any student who tries to knock on the door. The room is password protected, as only staff may enter. Inside the Staff Room are several tables with dark wooden, mis-matched chairs. There is also a large wooden wardrobe which is sometimes inhabited by a boggart.

Corridors
These are the hallways on the first floor. Many large pictures hang on the walls, which move within their frames.

Unused Classroom
This is a vacant classroom, and is quite empty aside from the desks for students, a desk for the teacher, and many empty shelves along the walls.
