Katherine walked down the corridor on her way to Transfiguration. She did so much enjoy the subject, and she was taking all advanced classes this year, but she did feel that she was biting off a bit more than she could chew. Nevertheless, Kat had promised her mother that she would stick this through to the end and become an Auror in the process. It was a dream only Katie's mother knew, as no one else had ever asked her what she wanted to do.

As Kat turned with the corridor, she realized that, lost in her thoughts (as she had been a lot lately), she had traveled too far down the hall, and so she turned suddenly around.

Saphron had never much liked the idea of corridors, they created so much space between classrooms. She supposed they had their uses, however, and so she put up with them. Walking down one now in an attempt to reach her office, which desperately needed to be cleaned. Of course, to Spahron, the extreme perfectionist, this meant that she had unecessary papers on her desk... Maybe three of them... Her thought stuck to this unfortunate situation, she did not see Katherine moving down the hallway in front of her.

Before she knew what was happening, Katherine turned suddenly around and Saphron ran straight into her. Lily, who was going through a 'parrot' phase, had been sitting on her shoulder and now took off as Saphron lost her balance. The floor was as hard as it had been in Kazuki's office and she made a vow that she would be more careful.

After a second of stunned sitting on the floor, Saphron stood and smiled at the student apologetically, "Hello Katherine... So sorry about that, I think I might be the most clumsy person on the planet... Anyway, I hope you aren't hurt," embarassment was one of her least favourite passtimes, but unfortunately one of her most frequent. She knew Katherine well from seven years in Hufflepuff and she hated that students saw her at her most silly. She was sure they thought her completely incompetent...

OOC: Hope you don't mind my knowing you, I just thought that since you were in your seventh year... laugh.gif

OOC: It really doesn't matter. Sorry for the lateness. Computer wasn't loading this page in for some odd reason.

"I'm the one who should be apologizing, Professor," Kat said. "If I hadn't suddenly turned..."

Katie looked the floor, a tad bit embarrassed. She knew Professor Strelitzia quite well, but she had never caused the teacher to run into her, and then, adding to it, to take all the blame when it had been her fault.

"Really, I'm sorry," Katherine heard herself saying. "I just realized that I walked too far down the hall, and..."

Stop talking! You know that when you talk too much you don't get your point across! Let the poor woman speak! Kat sighed and stopped talking so that her Head of House would get a chance to.

OOC: No worries, had my fair share of computer troubles too...

"I'm the one who should be apologizing, Professor," Kat said. "If I hadn't suddenly turned..."

"Not at all..." said Saphron quickly, "If I had been paying attention..." Dusting off some stray dust, Saphron didn't finish. She knew Katherine caught her meaning and so didn't find it necessary to talk further. Her mother had taught her at a young age that silence was less likely to get you into trouble. Now, Saphron had taken to applying that rule to all conversation, even with students.

Katie looked the floor, a tad bit embarrassed. She knew Professor Strelitzia quite well, but she had never caused the teacher to run into her, and then, adding to it, to take all the blame when it had been her fault.

She noticed that Katie was equally embarassed as she looked to the floor and Saphron felt significantly better about the situation. With her luck, it was usually a Slytherin and sh never got particularly friendly looks from them. She found herself copying the action, looking down at the floor.

"Really, I'm sorry," Katherine heard herself saying. "I just realized that I walked too far down the hall, and..."

She spoke again and Saphron immediately looked up. She felt the embarassment subsiding and she felt confident that she could reply like an adult. After all, she had been one for a while... The second apology and half-explanation made Saphron realise how like her Katie was, perhaps less clumsy, but she seemed to be going through similar emotions. "Please, don't worry, it was an accident... Anyway, as for walking too far down the corridor, it happens to the best of us. Between us," she said lowering her voice a bit, "I myself mistook Professor Syuusuke's office for my own... At least you only walked slightly off course, just think, three floors! He must have thought me completelymad..." she smiled, hoping that Katherine herself didn't think her insane.

"Where are you headed anyway?" she asked.

Kat let out a small laugh at the Professor. It wasn't a derisive laugh, but a laugh at a good joke.

"I was heading to Transfiguration," Katie said. "There are so many complicated spells to accomplish that I can't quite get them all down."

It went without saying that Kat was nervous about them, seeing as she couldn't perform them.

OOC: Sorry about the small post.

Saphron liked the fact that Katie had laughed at her attempt at humour. She was even more glad of the fact that she wasn't laughing at her... This happened on occasion and Saphron had come to expect it rather than be offended by it. When the opposite happened, however, she was warmed by the gesture.

She asked where the student was headed, for want to continue the conversation and steer it away from her clumsiness.

"I was heading to Transfiguration," Katie said. "There are so many complicated spells to accomplish that I can't quite get them all down."

Fi knew the feeling, it was certainly a difficult year, she had passed it mostly on the merit of her Herbology marks. Transfiguration had been one of her more difficult subjects and she definitely identified. "Oh, you've nothing to worry about. You're a bright girl, with a little practise you'll get the hang of it..." She smiled, her mind drifting slightly back to the mess her desk was in.

She was about to say goodbye, but was interrupted by an odd sound coming from around the corner. She had little doubt it was probably Peeves up to mischief again, but that little doubt was very vocal and she felt a sense of foreboding as the sound continued... She looked down the length of the corridor, but there was nothing. She was keen to investigate, but her former confrontation witha Dementor made her pull back a little.

OOC: Not a prob... Hope you don't mind, just wanted to add a little intrigue. biggrin.gif

"Thank you, Professor," Katie started to say when she, too, noticed the noise. The consternation that accompanied it wasn't too thrilling, either. She stared down the corridor where her Head of House was looking, her arm slid down in the pocket of her robes, tightly grasping her wand.

What is going on? Kat asked herself. These things shouldn't be happening here unless Peeves has gone invisible, which I doubt.

As one of the vase shattered down the corridor, Katie felt herself shaking. She had no idea what to do, and looked to Professor Strelitzia, who looked as bemused and bewildered as she felt.

"Professor, do you know what that is?" Kat asked, her hand still clenched tightly to her wand, as waves of worry and fear showered down upon her. "I have no idea..."

Katie knew she was sounding like a baby, but she also knew that if this thing, this invisible thing that had shattered the intricate vase, was potentially dangerous, then her thoughts about that didn't matter a bit.

Saphron was too concerned with the odd noise to notice the student's politeness, not a usual trait for the blonde. Her ability to notice people was one of the characteristics that had lead to her being Head of Hufflepuff. She did, however, notice that Katie was reacting in much the same way to the sound that was now echoing up the corridor. It had started as a sort of thudding, but was now reaching an unusual pitch. Her nerve giving up, Saphron also reached for her wand.

A vase shattered a little way down the corridor, but noe Peeves. In all her years at Hogwarts, Saphron had never read or seen a way for a ghost to completely conceal itself and her heart began to pound harder.

"Professor, do you know what that is?" Kat asked, her hand still clenched tightly to her wand, as waves of worry and fear showered down upon her. "I have no idea..."

Saphron could hear that Katherine was a little scared too, pushing the girl slightly aside as the sound moved closer, she hoped to see some sign of something she could identify. "Hold still," she began. A chill filled the air around them and Saphron held her breath slightly. This was some kind of dark magic, she was sure of it. But how, in the a school so well guarded? Saphron shook the feeling, it couldn't be, just some harmless fun, probably students further down the corridor conjuring some kind of charm and yet... She raised her wand, preparing to face this creature, if indeed that is what it was.

As the strange, heart-wrenching sound travelled down the hall to where Kat and Professor Strelitzia were standing, Katie felt her knees begin to shake. When Professor Strelitzia produced her wand, Kat did the same, feeling nervous and apprehensive. When a door flung open just ahead of them, the door that Kat was to go through for her next class, she breathed a sigh of relief and then passed out.
