Title: Expansion

Matt Miller - October 31, 2005 02:09 AM (GMT)
The League will be taking applications for two expansion teams. Those can be submitted to me via PM.

Expansion Guidelines:

- The teams will be able to pick any undrafted players and add them to their roster.
- The teams will go through an expansion draft, picking from a list of unprotected players from the original 13 teams.
- Original teams must submit a list of unprotected players consisting of two starters and three backups. The point salary must be between 15-25.
- The Expansion teams will have a total cap of 300 points to go through free agency and the expansion draft.
- If an expansion team drafts a player in the expansion draft, the team picked from will be able to pull a player from their unprotected list.
- The expansion teams will receive compensatory picks in Rounds 2-7 of the college draft.

Matt Miller - November 1, 2005 02:43 AM (GMT)
The Mike Aitkens, The Future, and Captain Uberpants have all applied so far.

#1Lionsfan - November 1, 2005 02:57 AM (GMT)
How many teams are being granted entrance? And will they be picking off our teams? I'm okay with it as long as I get to put together a 4 man list of pickable players.

I'm a moron. :P

Matt Miller - November 1, 2005 04:34 AM (GMT)
Cardinal also sent me a full explaination on why he should be in.

Packerken - November 1, 2005 05:38 AM (GMT)
a full "explanation?" Is it classic cardinal? Can I see it?

MA2046 - November 1, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
why i should be in it...

well i've got some mean bo-staff skills. i once saved a bus of 5th graders from a runaway pack of bulls. i dont get hangovers. i am The Mike Aitkens. i have been around these parts for quite some time. i'm an educated person. i walked on the moon. i have a kick ass silver cavalier. again, i'm The Mike Aitkens. i could go on, but it would just make some people jealous.

Let's go about this person by person that I'm competing against.

-The Future-
-Who the f*ck cares about the future? This draft and league need to be about the present. This league, which we are basing the thing off of, is all about "win now." That's why 35 year old vets get the nods over rooks with potential. That's why coach's with experience get recycled instead of the coordinator getting the chance. And it's why I would be a much better pick than him. Plus, his name starts with "the," which is going to make alphabetizing the teams a b**ch. Do you put him with the "t's" or with the "f's?" You don't know. I don't know. Hell, Charlie Weis doesn't even know. The future is in the future not the now, and once we get there, it will be confusing as hell.

-Captain Uberpants-
-He's considered by some to be a b*tch and b*tches ain't sh*t but h*'s and tricks. Lick on these n*ts and s*ck th* d*ck. Just get the f*ck out after you're done. And I hops in my ride to make a quick run...to this league's championship. And while I'm making a quick run, he'll still be stuck in neutral.

-The Mike Aitkens-
-Would be a worthy foe and should get the nod as the 2nd team.

Packerken - November 1, 2005 06:10 AM (GMT)
LMFAO!!!!! God have I missed you.

I officially have a man crush on Card.

I will not stoop to your level with (childish) remarks.

Ok, wow.

Obviously none of you think I can do it...fair enough. Unfortunately...I probably wont get a shot to prove you wrong.

no. i think its more that they'll likely go with guys who have been around for a while, and for the most part know that they can depend on them to show up and post frequently. i wouldnt say its anything personal, although i know some of them do have an un-dying love for The Mike Aitkens, in a 100% purely NON-sexual way of course.

#1Lionsfan - November 1, 2005 08:54 PM (GMT)
You fag.

TheFuture has about 5 1/2 posts per day right now. While I think that's fairly dependable, it's still no match for THE mike aitkens. lol :)

exactly. i have nice gaps in between my classes. i'll have time to kill in between classes and the gym as of next week. the world is my oyster, and time is on my side.

"The world is my oyster."

I told you guys he was gay. ;) Anyways, how's the spleen today?

come on now. not that there's anything wrong with it, but i don't swing that way. sorry, but i won't go out with you. the area still hurts like hell. we havn't determined if its the spleen yet, so we're not throwing around that spleen word just yet. right now its just a localized pain. but that is neither here nor there, we're talking about freakin' expansion here.

Oddly, there is quite a bit man-love going on in this thread.

The Future - November 1, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty dependable. Hell, I have over 5,000 posts on the Scout.Com/Fanhome boards. So that really shouldnt be an issue.

I figured experience might be an issue, oh well.

Future, as MA states it isnt personal.. It has nothing to do with experience persay, I would have no problem with you being an expansion owner, state your case and dont get so easily discouraged.

Packerken - November 1, 2005 11:36 PM (GMT)
And don't take cardinal personally either.

Skorik - November 1, 2005 11:38 PM (GMT)
This should be a fun time.

The Future - November 1, 2005 11:44 PM (GMT)
I sent a PM to Matt Miller, so i did make my case.

I wasnt really discouraged. I dont expect to get a team. Just wanted to throw my name in the hat, and hope I get it.

I never really take those kind of thing seriously. I found it somewhat amusing...and somewhat odd.

#1Lionsfan - November 1, 2005 11:49 PM (GMT)
Well, either way...Good luck to the contestants who are trying to get that expansion franchise. :)

Why not? I personally think it's because you're not witty enough to come up with your own smart-ass remarks.

DeeLions - November 2, 2005 01:20 AM (GMT)
I got one spot locked up. Miller hasn't really said it, but it was implied with his loss of words after reading my essay.

I dont believe that if i burned him (which i easily could) that that would have an affect on whether or not i get the expansion team.

#1Lionsfan - November 2, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
Probably true. But at least we might get a chuckle out of it. :P

Matt Miller - November 2, 2005 04:30 AM (GMT)
Cardinal
The Mike Aitkens
The Future
DeeLions
Captain Uberpants

#1Lionsfan - November 2, 2005 04:30 AM (GMT)
Do we get to vote?

Matt Miller - November 2, 2005 04:31 AM (GMT)
Yeah, let's wait and see if more people sign in.

#1Lionsfan - November 2, 2005 04:33 AM (GMT)

The Mike Aitkens

and

TheFuture

Id second this, if we vote. Nothing against the others, but MA is obviously proven and I've known The Future (hardly the future tho :) ) for quite some time.

Matt Miller - November 2, 2005 04:36 AM (GMT)
Hold your votes, we'll poll it eventually. We still have 46 rounds to go, no hurry.

bgeorges - November 2, 2005 04:39 AM (GMT)
yeah, i still have to have enough time to creat a new account, make myself seem reliable, and then get voted into this thing, allowing me to trade all the good players from one team to the other......

EDIT: Do we get to trade people?

Matt Miller - November 2, 2005 04:41 AM (GMT)
And we'll start voting soon...

Thanks BG.

Matt Miller - November 9, 2005 03:17 AM (GMT)
Ok, what do you guys think about letting the Expansion Teams enter the draft now? There are plenty of players to go around and by doing so we help ourselves because we either wouldn't have an expansion draft or wouldn't have to give up as many players.

Options:

1. Let them enter now and then give them an extra 14 rounds after the draft is over to pick up players.

2. Let them enter now and then have an expansion draft where they are awarded 14 picks.

3. Make them wait.
