The Steelerdog Memorial Conference - Greg Lloyd Division - The Charles Way Division
The Jeff Cottrill Memorial Conference - The Merton Hanks Division - The Steve Atwater Division |
if you're going with a J-Cott division, you gotta throw in a great packer in there, possibly a guy like reggie white.
Matt Miller - November 2, 2005 05:19 AM (GMT)
We went with the guys that we felt were stars, but never got the attention they deserved.
And Jeff had to love Merton Hanks and the pigeon dance.
MA2046 - November 2, 2005 05:20 AM (GMT)
jeff always seemed like an old school guy, and well he is a packers fan, Ray Nitschke?
loving the atwater pick, he was one hell of a player
Matt Miller - November 2, 2005 05:23 AM (GMT)
Mike, I am embarrassed that I didn't think of Sterling Sharpe sooner. I hope Jeff reads this one day and forgives me.

another good choice. i thought about him, but the defensive coach in me will always side with a defensive player first. i only suggested a Packer since I saw the Steelerdog division had greg lloyd in it.
Packerken - November 2, 2005 05:29 AM (GMT)
I miss Merton Hanks. That neck was something else.
Skorik - November 2, 2005 06:03 AM (GMT)
Can you just put all the posters from Pennsylvania in the Greg Lloyd division please? That is where all the teams with the pink tutus go.

Greg Lloyd would do things to you that I wouldn't wish on anybody.

they will, i have seen them do it before. Very dangerous folk they are
speardefense33 - November 5, 2005 02:40 AM (GMT)
We're a crazy group. One team might actually die if you put all the PA Teams together.
You could throw NJ in there too if you want. That's myself, Aitkens, and GH.

I joined the NJ crowd being from East Camden (aka the ghetto).
The Future - November 5, 2005 03:38 AM (GMT)
You live in Camden? Damn dude, surprised your able to sleep at night, lol.
I live in Cinnaminson, like 20 minutes away.
speardefense33 - November 5, 2005 03:39 AM (GMT)
GH, Aitkens, Spear, Captain...the PennsylJersey Division...but Greg Lloyd and/or Kevin Greene can lend their names to us :D
Green Hurricane - November 5, 2005 04:22 AM (GMT)
as intriguing as that is, I was born to be in the Charles Way division.
Cardinal 3000 - November 5, 2005 04:24 AM (GMT)
Anyone who doesn't want to be in the Atwater division probably doesn't eat meat.
bgeorges - November 5, 2005 04:30 AM (GMT)
speardefense33 - November 5, 2005 04:33 AM (GMT)
Don't you live in Missouri?
bgeorges - November 5, 2005 04:34 AM (GMT)
I live in Nebraska, but i was born in Jersey
speardefense33 - November 5, 2005 04:35 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure that counts. Have you beat your steering wheel in disgust over not being able to make a godammed left turn in New Jersey?
bgeorges - November 5, 2005 04:36 AM (GMT)
maybe..................
fine, no
speardefense33 - November 5, 2005 04:40 AM (GMT)
My girlfriend goes to school 2 minutes from the NJ border, and I swear to God, my blood pressure has never been higher than when I have to drive through New Jersey. Luckily, I never have to drive further than Phillipsburg, unless we're seeiong her extended family, but it's a pain in the ass x20.

One, no, it doesn't count.
Two, if you're from New Jersey then the left turn thing likely isn't a problem. You see, NJ is full of what we call "shitty drivers". And we "shitty drivers" are able to make left turns because we take stupid and reckless chances. If you want a perfect example of awful driving, try my town at about 6 pm on a Saturday.

Here are my proposed divisions.
Basically, I took the team that each player played for his career and formed the region around that area to come up with the jurisdiciton... Here are my PROPOSED divisions, they are not the definitive divisions...
Steelerdog Memorial Conference
The Steve Atwater Division West
1. Arizona Killer Beas
2. West Coast Crip Killas
3. Anchorage Yetis
4. Las Vegas Gamble
The Sterling Sharpe Divison Breadbasket and Great Lakes area
1. Chicago Hitmen
2. Omaha Beef
3. Shubert Metropolitans
4. Grand Rapids Gladiators
Jeff Cottrill Memorial Conference
The Greg Lloyd Division Midwest and Speardefense33
1. No Orleans Malt Looters
2. East Camden Booty Rapers
3. South Bend Golden Domers
4. Canton Bulldogs
The Charles Way Division East Coast. Stress the Coast to include Miami
1. Trenton Centurions
2. Miami Reclamation Project
3. Lambertville Midwest Warriors
4. New England Transcendentalists
speardefense33 - November 5, 2005 04:47 AM (GMT)
That's a nice little setup you have there, Skorik, nicely done.
Harring, you ever heard of Clinton? I guess that's where the aunts/uncles live, I've driven there but haven't paid attention to the signs, I was definitely more eager just to get off at the exit and away from goddammed 22 East.
FYI, I'm not a pussy to driving, I went to school in Pittsburgh for a year, I should earn a badge of courage for driving home during rush-hour.

I have! I got lost in one of the finer parts of Newark and blew about 3 red lights in aggrevation. Also, I have step-siblings that live in Sussex County. Do I qualify?
Skorik - November 5, 2005 04:54 AM (GMT)
I tried to atleast spark some rivalries. In the Atwater division you really don't have much except the Gamble trying to cover the spread every game, I guess.
In the Sharpe division you have the two Nebraska teams.
In the Lloyd Division I think you have South Bend, home of the college football hall of fame and Canton, home of the NFL Football Hall of Fame.
The Charles Way division is three teams in one tiny area, then the speed state of Florida coming up every fall and beating us all very badly most likely, they did back when they were in the Big East.
#1Lionsfan - November 5, 2005 04:56 AM (GMT)
Oh, and by the way, I'm sickened by the idea of this "Sterling Sharpe" division that you guys have put me in. This should, by all accounts be the Dick Butkus Division. Or the Vince Lombardi divison. Or, hell, I'd even settle for the "Mike Ditka" division. If we are talking heroes of the former NFC Central that is.
speardefense33 - November 5, 2005 05:06 AM (GMT)
If we are naming conferences here after an underrated division, I FORBID Mike Singletary, since he's on my staff, and suggest Jim Taylor, Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Jerry Kramer, Mike Ditka, WALTER PAYTON, Gale Sayers, Matt Suhey, Richard Dent, Carl Eller, Robert Porcher, or Dan Hampton...those are the only names I say are permitted...
Skorik - November 5, 2005 05:12 AM (GMT)
I deleted this post, but think I will suggest my idea, however bad it might be, since we have a pretty lax forum on the division names
The Jeff Cottrill Memorial Division
The Steve Atwater Division = The Al Davis Division
The Sterling Sharpe Division = The Paul Halas Division
The Steelerdog Memorial Division
The Greg Lloyd Division = The Dan Rooney (Or Paul Brown... Really tough to decide) Division
The Charles Way Division = The Wellington Mara Division.
speardefense33 - November 5, 2005 05:14 AM (GMT)
If I'm not in the Greg Lloyd and/or Art Rooney Division, I may end up shooting all y'all.
azrael502 - November 5, 2005 06:30 AM (GMT)
umm, if you must know lambertville is in michigan, hardly the east coast
Green Hurricane - November 5, 2005 12:35 PM (GMT)
Names are based on underrated players with cool names, and with an aura capable of having their own football divisions.

sorry, googled Lambertville and the first response was New Jersey.

The obvious thing to do would be move the East Camden Booty Rapers, but two expansion teams in one division would be completley unfair.
speardefense33 - November 5, 2005 02:11 PM (GMT)
I notice you have a Great Lakes Region. Erie (my team location) is a Great Lake itself. Erie, PA = Lake Erie
Skorik - November 5, 2005 02:12 PM (GMT)
I thought you were team was from New Orleans?
Eh, we'll let Matt figure out the divisions.

If this ends up happening, this could very well be one of the toughest divisions in the entire league. Well at least with the top 3 teams, the Centurion, Reclamation Project, and the Bulldogs.
Skorik - November 5, 2005 04:33 PM (GMT)

Not so fast, my friend.
There are 43 picks left, and the Transcendentalists are building the team from the ground up.
And spear, who knows where your team is from. As you said in the chat, there is No New Orleans, so you are really from Parts Unknown like the Ultimate Warrior.
