Title: Colts/Chargers

BigAl - December 18, 2005 07:08 PM (GMT)
What a horrible first quarter (from my perspective, of course). The Chargers obviously came to play. Maybe this is what the Colts needed, a little adversity.

Three sacks allowed so far, broken plays, etc. This sucks.

How the Colts deal with the rest of this game will be telling.

Sleeper - December 18, 2005 07:09 PM (GMT)
This is nuts and suprising, but then again last year SD hung w/ Indy the whole game

MA2046 - December 18, 2005 07:10 PM (GMT)
I want the Chargers to win this for 2 reasons.

1. I'm tired of hearing the undefeated talk. End it now.
2. I want the Chargers to make the playoffs, especially over the Steelers.

Sleeper - December 18, 2005 07:16 PM (GMT)
Im rooting for Indy to go undefeated

bgeorges - December 18, 2005 07:44 PM (GMT)
Come on Indy. Even though i want to see the Colts lose(Seahawks can do it), i want SD to lose, b/c that still leaves hope for the Chiefs in the playoffs. If the Steelers lose today, and then the Chiefs beat the Chargers and Bengals, the Chiefs are in the playoffs.

Sleeper - December 18, 2005 07:46 PM (GMT)
Shawne Merriman would eat your kids

bigmike - December 18, 2005 08:22 PM (GMT)
WE HAVE A COMEBACK

Dan Kadar - December 18, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
I sure am glad this game isn't on in my area. Instead, I get Jags/49ers.

Dammit.

Dammit.

i had 2 stations showing the steelers/vikings game, but one of them just switched over to the colts/chargers. however, i'm still watching the eagles/rams game and only going to the other games during commercial breaks.

BigAl - December 18, 2005 08:29 PM (GMT)
Excellent! I was just hoping for some turnovers, and then they happened.

It should be an entertaining fourth quarter.

yisman - December 18, 2005 09:10 PM (GMT)
San Diego and Pittsburgh win, so they're still tied at 9-5 for the last playoff spot.

hasley just had his 2nd heart attack in 2 weeks...my god i dont even wanna talk about this game cause i felt like i was on the field the way my blood is pumping....shawne merriman aka sinbad on steroids

Den60 - December 18, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
I thought the Chargers D did well today. The offense didn't get TD's early, when they needed it and then turned the ball over to spur Indy's comeback.

Luis Castillo and Shawne Merriman are two really good 1st round picks for the Chargers. Michael Turner seemed better suited to the turf today.

I thought the Charger's front 7 did pretty well (I'm not so high on Edwqrds play in pass covereage, his drops appeared to be not deep enough).

And, I thought Jammer and Florence had good games.

CastorTroy - December 18, 2005 09:30 PM (GMT)
well this is all over. good god. Maybe a couple more days of media obsession about the Colts undefeated season (well they need to talk about they lost and all now...)

hasley10 - December 18, 2005 09:32 PM (GMT)
what about the play of vincent jackson...he caught that ball on the 2nd series of the game for like 9 yards...that boy is huge....6'5 250 with speed...turner is a better to carry the offense when we have the lead..he just seems more patient then tomlinson... tomlinson looks to be doing to much...much like sanders did.

Don't forget Nate Kaeding. He had some FG's of 48 and 49 yards.

I'm not sure Jackson is on the same page as Brees. He does have the ability, though. Losing Parker early I think hurt the Chargers down the field. Turner must not wear Nike shoes.

hasley10 - December 18, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
terrence kiel looks lost in coverage...man him and donnie edwards suck horribly in cover 2/ cover 3 zone we run alot....laron landry, ko simpson, darnell bing ??? can i get a ballhawking safety or a hitman in the secondary

ghost - December 18, 2005 10:07 PM (GMT)
What a game. I love the way the front seven punished Manning. That is asterik in the history books will say 'The San Diego Chargers'. Good enough for me.

Hasley, I want a new SS too, but the Chargers need AJ to address the offensive line in the first round, No question.

There are a few very good veteran strong safeties available in free agency, the same cannot be said about offensive tackle or guard.

merriman foley and godfrey were just rushing the qb like madmen...castillo probably played his 2nd best game of the year....jamal williams better go to the probowl..the man house just owns the a gaps .....igor olshanksy is underrated as a run stuffing end...those werent homer comments...true facts...our front 7 played the game of their lives....who would have though both our starting corners get ints this game...before this game neither had a int the whole season....time to drink some coors light and budweiser to calm the blood pressure

Retnuhrace - December 18, 2005 10:33 PM (GMT)
Wooooooo.... the Dolphins record lives on!

BigAl - December 18, 2005 11:55 PM (GMT)
Well, it's disappointing that the Colts couldn't pull this one out and that it won't be an undefeated season. But on a positive note, some deficiencies in their play have been exposed and can be corrected, making them a better team heading into the playoffs.

Im not going to put much stock in this game. I would be surprised if the colts coaching really went full out for this game. I think it would have been dumb for them to show all their guns in a meaningless game for them.

as herm once said, "you play to win the games!"

Matt Miller - December 19, 2005 12:38 AM (GMT)
Thank you, MA.

Didn't go all out? That's the oddest thing I've ever heard.

K0nKuzh0n - December 19, 2005 12:39 AM (GMT)
im not making excuses for the colts. They could have very well gone all out on this game and just got beat. But I think that would have been dumb on their part.

Colts offensive line really got exposed, which wouldn't really have anything to do with not gameplanning fully. I think if they had any trick plays or new plays in their pocket they would save them for the playoffs regardless of the scores of these last few games.

why would it have been dumb? dumb to keep the winning momentum going? dumb to keep running on all gears? dumb to keep up the domination of everyone on their schedule?

K0nKuzh0n - December 19, 2005 12:42 AM (GMT)
I think if the colts held some of their weapons in, it would benefit in the long run.

the only way they would have been holding back was if they pulled their starters or outright benched them. noone who leaves in their starters is going to hold back during the regular season. you play to win the game. even if you do pull your starters, you still have the backups leave everything on the field.

K0nKuzh0n - December 19, 2005 12:45 AM (GMT)
obv you still play to win. I never said they let the chargers beat them. reread what i posted before about trick plays and new plays. I dont think they should waste anything they could use in the playoffs.

You turn the smallest things into the biggest arguements for no reason.

not really, teams put in new plays every week.

im done here. Im not ganna help you guys flood another thread with useless posts because you feel the need to argue about the smallest things.

Only bad teams run trick/gimmick plays with a consistent basis. Good teams do not need to rely on them. Most of the plays they put in were in previously, either in the previous season or games. They rarely invent new plays all together. They might put together a play from several other plays, but you just don't invent a new play each week. A team never uses the entire playbook for each game anyway. They'll insert packages depending on the matchup and take ones out for the same reason.

thx for telling me somthing i already know

NeonLeon - December 19, 2005 05:37 AM (GMT)
The Chargers are using the blueprint of the Patriots, showing that the games are won up front. The Chargers have done a great job building their front 7. Thats why they are able to get by with a shaky secondary

nepg - December 19, 2005 07:50 AM (GMT)
That's not the Patriots' blue print...the Patriots have ended up with a shaky secondary through injuries...not through design.

NeonLeon - December 19, 2005 03:31 PM (GMT)
The last two teams to beat the Colts were the Patriots and Chargers because they have strong front 7's. I wasn't comparing their secondaries.
