Broncosfan713 - July 27, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
It's gonna be pretty dam balanced, but you're right...no way is it the best division in the NFL. AFC East and NFC East, then both South's, then maybe the AFC West.

Sleeper - July 27, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)
me so sorry.

EDIT: Nice

bgeorges - July 27, 2005 09:44 PM (GMT)
The Chiefs improved their defense and will be a major title contender. The Chargers wre one of the best teams last year and brought everybody back and had two 1st round draft picks. The Raiders offense is going to be almost unstoppable, and the Broncos always have a good running game/defense.

Not saying 100% it is the best, but it does deserve major consideration.

The NFC East is going to be horrible again. Only The Eagles are going to make the playoffs. Giants, Redskins, and Cowboys are all going to suck again this year

DMM, dropping the logic. The man speaks the truth.

I might be crazy, but I think the AFC South is going to be the toughest division in football this year.

DMM - July 27, 2005 11:55 PM (GMT)
The AFC South can not be the best division since it will have one of the worst teams in the league. The Titans.

Skorik - July 28, 2005 12:15 AM (GMT)
Will the Titans be bad? Yes. The worst? Not in my opinion.

To me, I think they have too much on offense returning to really be in the bottom of the barrell in the NFL standings. They return four out of their five offensive linemen, with Zach Piller coming back from injury, and Jacob Bell moving out to right tackle (A more athletic and younger replacement for Fred Miller). So essentially it is like they are getting two players who will mildly upgrade their respective positions. If Bell moves back inside, he will be one of the top young guards in the NFL, as he showed last year starting fifteen of sixteen games, while only giving up four sacks. Michael Roos is the long term project, but David Stewart (Who another fan correctly alluded to Mike Munchaks label as the next Jon Runyan) will most likely be the immidiate fix.

I think the skill positions do not need any introduction. Steve McNair, one of the best deep ball throwers in the league (Over 60%), Travis Henry and Chris Brown both have a 1,000 yard season attributed to them, and Drew Bennett is coming off career highs across the board at WR. Tyrone Calico was coming on strong in the pre-season and training camp before being the first victim of Roy Williams' horse-collar tackle. Troupe will emerge this year as one of the better tight ends in the league.

They have enough on offense to keep the pressure on other teams, allowing their defense to take more gambles, which is something you do not need to ask Jim Schwartz twice. A disciple of Gregg Williams, Schwartz will blitz, run man, and try to create as much chaos as possible. Right now I think the Titans have a serious chance of going 8-8 if some chips fall in order, but a more sober prediction is 6-10.

In terms of the AFC West, I think it will be two times with winning records, two teams with losing records. Pretty much the same old story, like it was last year. I think the Chargers and Chiefs will be the winners, and the Broncos and the Raiders will happily dwell in the cellar together. The Raiders are trusting a player who has never had more than 100 rushes in his career to carry the load. I think I would hold off on them, if they cant get the running game established, Kerry Collins will get murdered dropping back again.

Since ther was no link & the rankings were posted in invisible electronic ink  I'll do my own rankings:

1. San Diego Bolts: This is the yr. they take it to the next level in the playoffs. LaDanian tonlinson will be neck-&-neck with Shaun Alexander for the league's all-purpose yardage leader. Castillo will be a DRoYr. nominee at DT in their 3-4.

2. Denver Broncos: Too much talent to blow it in the playoffs -- again -- so Shanahan feels sits on the hotseat. Low-profile owner Bowlen has kept his hands off & let him coach his own way, but that way isn't the right way if they still can't beat Indy. After their next playoff loss, Shanahan will open his Outlook & see an email marked High Importance! from the owner asking to see him in his office.....dum, dee-dum-dum....

3. KC Chiefs: Much defensive improvement this offseason, but still not enough. Could finish lower if Priest Holmes gets injured again.

4. Oakland Raiders: (looks over shoulder nervously as he types this sitting in his office in Oakland) What can I say? Al Davis is ailing but still runs the club like a 3rd World dictatorship, & they are still the oldest team in the league. They needed to get more than Randy Moss..... that's a formula for disaster, & they wil actually draft before the 9ers in '06.

whaddya think?

titans2909 - July 28, 2005 01:55 AM (GMT)
I'd say the AFC South or AFC West would be in a battle for the top division.

Each divison has "weak links" which could probably contend in most other divisions for a playoff spot (from what i'm hearing the titans and raiders/broncos)

Not according to this guy:

And yes, everyone, except the Eagles, will suck again. 8-8 is the best case scenario for the Giants, because Eli will be inconsistent again (Next year will be the year he becomes an elite QB), and Plaxico Burress will not live up to expectations. The defense will be alot better, but Amani Toomer's play will take another step down. I believe that 2006-07 will be the year the Giants return to the playoffs.

No problem.

And I'm not going to keep saying "I think" or "IMO", I think you can pretty much tell that it's my opinion if I'm typing it.

all 3 teams where 6-10 last year and lost some close games. cowboys got better,Giants got some what better and the deadskins well they still are the deadskins. eagles may very well win the east again but the division will not be horrible.

7 of the 10 Cowboys losses were by 10 points or more. I guess if you want to call those close ones you can.

In contrast I think the Redskins only lost 3 of their 10 by 10 points.

Seems to me that the Redskins are at least on par if not better.

The Redskins have a coach who doesn't know how football works anymore.

The Cowboys have a coach who knows how address a problem.

This seems to tell me that the Cowboys are better.

(Did I also mention we start out 2-0 every year?)

If one of either Houston or Tennessee might have hit anywhere near .500 (like they were supposed to), I would have looked pretty smart. I really though Houston could at least come close to the playoffs this year.
