Title: Most hated athletes
Description: Which players get the most boos?

Jojo - February 15, 2006 04:40 PM (GMT)
I know you have some in mind. Tell us why they are detested by the fans.

Mine are:
Leonard Little, St. Louis Rams: Most DEs stats include sacks & TFLs, but this guy has a body count. He is more lethal behind the wheel of a car while drunk than smallpox. S/B p/o some state's correctional system instead of p/o the NFL.

Karl Malone, Utah Jazz/LA Lakers: Go up with him in the paint & he will put an elbow in your adam's apple or stomp your foot on the way down, just ask David Robinson. The Mailman was the dirtiest player in the NBA for yrs, & one of the most overrated. When a p/o of tthe US Olympic team in Barcelona, no other player would hang out or have anything to do with him. Polished off his NBA career by being seen hitting on Kobe Bryant's wife in the stands after the rape incident.... low-class, no-class player.

Pete Rose, Cincy Reds: Great player, lousy human being. Allowed the Mob to milk his gambling addiction into a million-$+ debt, & probably threw some games to settle some of it. He was MLB's worst nightmare, an active player in the clutches of organized crime, & now he whines about getting into the HoFame, total hypocrite. They have that poster displayed in every pro sports lockeroom saying stay away from gamblers & DO NOT GAMBLE for a reason, you dumbass! And it was in your contract too, Pete, & you violated it, so get over it.

Mike Tyson, former boxer: Now he's just a former pro athlete freak show. ONe of the dumbest world champions of anything, ever. Got conned by convicted murderer promoter Don King into bouts in his later career he knew he couldn't win, so he bit off ear pieces. Also got conned by a beauty contest winner runner-up as a judge in same for bogus rape charge & did 2 yrs. in prison, & shot up several cars with his former lovers in them trying to get the hell away from him......he's just a public menace.

Ron Artest, Indiana Pacers: I don't care if he called your mother bad names, threatened your wife & hit you with an overpriced drink, you don't ever ever ever go into the stands & attack a fan. A pro athlete's body can be legally defined as a deadly weapon, & he was guilty of assault with one. How he only got a yr's suspension & a fine is a classic wrist slap for celebrity justice in action.

I know you can think of some reprobate pro athletes. Have fun with this thread.

BigChanduski - February 15, 2006 04:51 PM (GMT)
Barry Bonds: Be a man and admit you juiced. I have no respect for people get atone for their wrongs.

Bill Lambeer (I can't spell it): A man who made an entire NBA career out of being a hired hitman. I hate dirty players.

Deion Sanders: Unbelieveable skills, that's not what this is about. He's a shameless limelight whore who has no concept of anyone but himself most of the time.

Joey Porter: Doesn't know when to shut up. Last I checked the game is played in pads, not on the mic stand. I laughed so hard when he got shot in the ass.

Charles Woodson: Such a waste of talent. Probably could be not only a top 3 CB in the NFL, he could be a top 3 player in the NFL. Has no work ethic, has even admitted to not working out much in the offseason, and still feels he's a top talent. The past few years should have been humbling for him.

Hayvlin - February 15, 2006 04:55 PM (GMT)
If you're going to throw Artest on the list, you might as well throw Stephen Jackson. He did more damage then Ron-Ron. At least Ron was "provoked". Jackson looked like he was auditioning for the next Jet Li film as "Crazy Black Dude #2".

I haven't ever seen an athlete get booed more than Jeff Gordon.

I suppose this is pulling a Callishaw (mispell?), but seriously no one gets a louder reaction then him during an introduction.

Bighead734 - February 15, 2006 07:08 PM (GMT)
JJ Reddick, G Duke

I love the kid though.

Maybe it's because I'm not from the Confederacy, but I can't call drivers athletes. Tony Stewart just epitomizes it. I mean, what they do takes skills that I don't have, but I can't classify them as athletes.

also derek jeter... mariano rivera... TO.. corey dillon... hmmm

Jojo - February 15, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
I was wondering when TO would rear his ugly head here. I was starting to list him but decided to let someone else villify Mr. "Team Obliterator." THat's what Skip Bayless calls him.

Devastated the SF 49ers, then he snubbed the Ravens to go to the Chunky Soup-eating team, who banned for the season for conduct detrimental, & no other player has been compared more often to Satan incarnate on this board, even slandered both his QBs, Garcia & McNabb, on his website ... Denver Broncos: you're next! When he shows up it's like the Warren Zevon song, "Send lawyers, guns, & money!"

Would it surprise anyone here if all 32 teams blackball him next season?

Cornbread - February 15, 2006 11:05 PM (GMT)
Donavan McNabb probably needs to be on the list. Booed by Eagle fans when he was drafted and hated by some of his former and current team mates.

Are you kidding me? Seriously, this is beyond retarded, even for a Cowboys fan.

ghost - February 15, 2006 11:36 PM (GMT)
It begins and ends with Terrell Owens with me. No other professional athlete comes close in my book. He's earned a special spot in hell with his behavior the past four or so years.

BigChanduski - February 15, 2006 11:37 PM (GMT)
McNabb is one of the tamest guys around. I understand that you don't like him because he's an Eagle, CB, but that's like me saying I hate Troy Polamalu because he's too soft spoken and polite.

McNabb was booed by Cattalldi and his 30 retards, THEY DID NOT EVER EMBODY THE RESPONSE OF THE EAGLE NATION. Get that through your head.

TeamSeals - February 16, 2006 02:33 AM (GMT)
How has no one mentioned Todd Bertuzzi, he broke a guys neck in one of the dirtiest cheap shots in all of sports by jumping Moore from behind.

Also Marty McSorely for using his hockey stick and taking a full swing to DOnald Brashear's temple.

VaeVictus - February 16, 2006 04:11 AM (GMT)
Well, T.O. is just a given.

I also despise these current/former athletes

Rasheed Wallace--King of Crybabies
Joey Porter
Aaron Brooks--homer pick alert
Bill Romanowski
Matt Leinart--may be our next starting QB, so his status may change
Deion Sanders--for reasons already stated
Michael Vick--simply b/c he is astoundingly overrated
Jim Mcmahon
Bode Miller--who is he all of a sudden, tomorrow forgotten

Rae Carruth and OJ Simpson didn't get any valentines from me.

And this is shocking to you how? When he is forced down our throats for years about being the greatest thing to ever hit the NFL people tend to get annoyed by it and start to see the truth. Mel Kiper Jr. actually summed it up best a few weeks ago, when he said Mike Vick is the most overrated player in the NFL, and that if he was starting a franchise he would take Vince Young over him every single time if those were his two choices.

That has more to do with his sexual preferences than his NASCAR wins.

His handlers keep in the closet b/c he sells more NASCAR memorabilia that way -- ironically, I think he would get booed less if he just admitted he was gay, like CHandler says about Bonds admitting he used Balco juice when he set the career HR rcd.

Bonds never fesses up unless he absolutely has to -- he's all about denial. When he set the HR rcd. he carried his 5-yr-old son around the bases on his shoulders, & always talked about his his family was #1 with him.... that is, until he got caught with a woman he had stashed in an condo in San Jose for the last 5 yrs. He's just a complete hypocrite.

I'm not suprised but when people say he is overrated, my response is how can he be the most overrated player in football when EVERYONE says he is overrated. he sint' the best QB i nthe league. he isn't even the best athlete i nthe league. but he does change games. I'm just saying people find so much to criticize him for it's basically the same thing McNabb had to go through. once vick got into the league the heat started coming off McNabb. Young will have the same effect to Vick.

MA2046 - February 16, 2006 10:16 PM (GMT)
the heat also came off mcnabb b/c he developed as a passer, and could take over games with his arm.

I like McNabb, I think he is a class act. He didn't stoop down to TOs level during all the controversy and whether I like the Eagles or not the fact is he has been a winner his entire career, however he is on the hated list not only for being booed at the draft, but also for some comments from some of his team mates like TO and Hugh Douglas, he is not real liked in the locker room. There are also some haters out there that said he wussed out in the Super Bowl with a mysterious flu like symptoms. His hernia injury this year didn't help his cause either, whenever he threw an INT his hernia injury it seemed to flare up....how convenient. Did I mention all those stupid Chunky Beef Soup Commercials with his mom? I doubt I am the only one sick of them.

No you just come off as an idiot with this matter. If you sit there and for one second actually believe the things TO says you've lost your mind. Hugh Douglas wasn't even a member of the team this past season, and spent significantly less time in the lockerroom than many realize. In fact he was banned from the lockerroom a good portion of the time. Take some time out of your day and find the comments by respected guys on the team such as Brian Dawkins and Sheldon Brown and you will find out just how much of an impact Donovan does have on the team and how well of a leader he is. Don't waste your time buying the crap from a borderline crazy WR and a guy who isn't even in the lockerroom a good portion of the time, let alone taking up a roster spot. As for the draft booing, for about the millionth time the 30 idiots that did this in NO way reflected the views of the entire Eagles fan nation, in fact they didn't represent the views of even a large portion of that fanbase.

Should he have came out and used the media the way TO did during the middle of the season? Maybe, but he choose to not go down that path, and instead held team meetings to address the situation. I would rather everything like this be handled in house and not thrown out there for the media anyway.

It's gonna be OK MA2046, it's clear you love McNabb and I am happy for you, I love him too buddy, he is a man god, but however much it hurts your feelings there those out there that hate him, right or wrong that's just the way it is.

I think most of his critcs are off the mark, he is still pretty young, really for a QB he is in his prime and I still think he has a bright future in the NFL. So again MA2046, take a deep breath, it's gonna be OK.

PS: I still hate those Chunky Soup commercials :o

excuse me, but i have a hard time standing still and not speaking up when some pretty stupid things are said.

BigChanduski - February 17, 2006 12:50 AM (GMT)
CB...a sports hernia is ridiculously painful. Plus, it on his right side I believe, so it did effect his throwing motion, he couldn't step into it as much, so the ball would hang. I'm not an Eagles fan, but the fact that he played as much as did with that injury is impressive. I knew a guy who played semi-pro football and he got a sports hernia, and he could barely walk he was in so much pain. This guy was built and tough as nails too.

Cornbread - February 17, 2006 01:00 AM (GMT)
I know bud, I have had a hernia before. But hey, you don't have to convince me, I am not a McNabb hater, I am just stating this from things I have heard, read and seen from others. I sure hope it is not true, there is so much love for him on these boards it must all be just baseless rumors.

Cmon, if yu don't want a hotly debated subject then don't start a "most hated athlete" post topic.

Vick was starting to take over games with his arm and his legs in the 2nd half of the year when the guys McKay got in the first rounds of the 2004 and 2005 drafts were the starting receivers. Roddy and Jenkins will help Vick's development at first. then he will start to help their development. but because of them the passing offense will at least be something to be worried about next eyar for the Falcons opponents.

Well I had what is commonly called a "sports hernia" in high school, but it is really not even a true hernia, it's real name is "athletic pubalgia", which is just a tear in the muscles of the lower abdomen. It causes pain in the lower abdomen and/or groin.

Mine healed from rest and I did not need surgery, but people that continue to try to play on it can injury it permanently and even with surgery people who have had sports hernias sometimes continue to have ongoing lower abdominal muscle pain and groin pain.

BigChanduski - February 17, 2006 03:24 AM (GMT)
Yeah okay I got nothing for that. All I know is shoulder surgery is b**ch.

Cornbread - February 17, 2006 03:33 AM (GMT)
You know I could have chosen a no brainer like Tonya Harding, Pete Rose, Dan Dierdorf, Bill Romanowski or Terell Owens but I threw out a controversial guy like McNabb. I don't think he is hated by the vast majority of football fans or anything, but there are a few people that talk crap about him. Right or wrong he does have his haters.

I don't know if hate is the right word, but I hate Randy Moss, all that talent gone to waste. Is Chris Henry following in his footsteps?

Skorik - February 17, 2006 04:24 AM (GMT)
People don't hate McNabb, I just think people are tired of hearing about him.

In my opinion, it is a story of an above-average QB who for whatever reason started getting one thing after another thrown at him whether it is Rush Limbaugh from the far right, the NAACP from the far left, or in his own lockerroom from Terrell Owens. It is truly perplexing.

One athlete who I hate is Chad Johnson, mainly because I think the media gives him a free pass because his team won all throughout the year. Had they been losing, and Johnson been pulling the stuff he did, he would be another egotistical WR in the media's eyes, but because his team was winning, he was known more as "spirited" and "fun-loving." Besides, I will take Randy Moss mooning the Green Bay faithful in Lambeau Field over any of Johnson's stunts any day of the week.

At least we know with Chad Johnson we won't have to be dealing with him beating up women, getting busted for drugs, and hitting Police Officers with his SUV.

bgeorges - February 17, 2006 04:39 AM (GMT)
Skorik, the reason the Bengals were winning was because of Chad Johnson. Its not like is just a role player that the Bengals didn't need to win. Johnson was a top 3 WR last year, maybe the best in the league (between him and Steve Smith).
