Description: Please Judge

Rey - April 2, 2006 10:33 PM (GMT)
Name: Uchiha Taichi
Level: academy student
Requested rewards:Genin rank, Reinforced forhead protector,
LP ( I think I wrote enough to get some extra LP)

(It came out to be just a little bit over 6 pages)

Today was the day that the young Uchiha would finally get the chance to prove his skills as a ninja. It was the day of his genin exam, today he would get the chance to finally become a genin and finally start doing some missions. Tai was always looking to get stronger; he wanted to make his family proud. Tai was lying in bed that morning but he had only slept for a few hours that night.

That night Tai spent a long time talking to his parents; he wanted to have some kind of idea of what he was in for. He asked them what the test would be, but his parents honestly had no way of being sure. It could simply be performing a jutsu properly, or getting a written test, or it could be as complex as having a fighting tournament. His parents were pretty sure that he would pass but they didn’t tell him that because they didn’t want him to get overconfident.

Tai always could perform jutsu easily in his classes, and he usually got the best marks for field work and training exercise, but he also did very well on the written test usually getting in the top 5 with his scores. Tai had a feeling that he would do well but he didn’t like not knowing what the test would be. He got used to not knowing even though it was difficult for him. He couldn’t sit still he wanted to know what the test was and he wanted to know very badly.

Tai was in his room alone with the lights on reading a book on the three basic jutsu. He had known the jutsu for several years now it wasn’t hard for him to perform it, the boy was just wasting his time. Before he had finished reading a page there was a knock on the door to his room. Tai turned around quickly, he wasn’t wearing a shirt so he jumped to the bed and picked one up he put it on not realizing that it was on backwards.

“Come in,” he said

The door opened and his father walked into the room. Tai’s father was a tall man with a large build. His hair was black like Tai’s and so were his eyes. He was wearing a white shirt with black pants. Tai’s father was a jounin and the leader of an ANBU squad. He had a great deal of respect among the other shinobi of Konoha.

“Tai hurry up and get changed it’s time for breakfast, and fix your shirt you look like a fool,” his father said and then he left the room.

Tai took off the shirt he was wearing and got dressed quickly. He put on a dark red long sleeve shirt that was in his closet. It was a little big for him since he just got it and wanted to wear it later on when he grew into it. The young Uchiha put on a pair of black pants that were in the closet. They were a little baggy but he didn’t mind. Tai put on his dark red bandana to keep his hair out of his eyes and then he went downstairs to get some breakfast.

He said hi to his parents who were both downstairs eating. Tai walked over to the kitchen and got himself some toast and juice. Tai’s mother started to look at her with her brown eyes. His mother was a very interesting woman. She was a jounin and one of the best young medics in the leaf village. She also managed to get where she is while raising Tai. She was dressed in her ninja gear and looked like she had a mission.

“Mom, are you going somewhere?” Tai asked his mother.

“Actually I am, I have a mission today apparently there is a sick woman with children on the outskirts of the city. I’m going to go and heal her if I can. I should be back soon, see you guys later,” his mom said and then quickly left the house.

“Tai I want you to know this for when you take your exam. You are ready for it, but don’t get over confident maybe you should go their a little early and practice you punches and kicks. You don’t know many jutsu so try to rely on your speed,” his father said.

Tai continued to eat his breakfast quickly he wanted to head out to the academy early that day and get in a little bit of extra practice before his big exam. Before Tai could finish eating his breakfast there was a knock on the door. It was odd because they didn’t usually get visitors in the mornings and the mail-man usually left the packages outside of the door for them. Tai got out of his seat and went to answer the door.

When Tai opened the door there were 3 other kids outside. They were his friends; Hitomi Sanada, Ryu Inuzuka, and Koji Akimichi. The three of them were academy students like Tai and they were all in the same class. They actually had the same test today. The three of them were all a year older than Tai but it didn’t matter really, since they were the average age of all the academy students.

Hitomi was a 10 year old girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She was very smart and had a fun loving heart. She was the only one out of that group of friends that wasn’t in a clan or had any advanced bloodlines and she did feel a little handicapped compared to them sometimes. She had known Tai ever since they were kids and they spent a lot of time together at the academy.

Ryu Inuzuka was a 10 year old boy with short brown hair and green eyes. He had recently met Tai at the academy because of Hitomi. She introduced the both of them before a field exam since the 3 of them were all on the same team He was a lot like Tai, very competitive and always looking to get better. He was ranked second in the class next to Tai and was always trying to be better than he was. His pet dog Koga was a very cute dog and helped Ryu out in battle many times.

The last was Koji Acimichi a 9 year old genin like Tai but he wasn’t nearly as strong. Koji was actually ranked last in the whole class. This is mostly because he failed every single written exam there was and also because it took 3 weeks longer than every other student to learn the 3 basic jutsu. Koji looks like he’s always wondering what’s going on. But once you get used it he’s a nice guy always looking to satisfy his appetite.

“Hey Tai, it’s good to see you, man do we have some big news for you. They announced what the exams were going to be today,” Ryu said.

Tai’s face looked shocked it was still 9 am and his friends had gone to find out what the exam was.

“So what did they said it’s going to be?” Tai replied.

“It looks like it’s going to be a fighting tournament they’re going to match up people randomly and they are going to have 3 rounds, but it’s a little different than a normal tournament. You don’t advance based on how many fights you win, you advance based on how many you lose. So once you win a fight you’ve become a genin, and if you end up as one of the last 4 people not to win, you don’t advance. They match people up based on class rank. You’re the first so you’d be fighting the last,” Hitomi explained everything well and Tai didn’t have any problems understanding how things worked.

Tai realized that since he was ranked first in the class he would be able to fight the weakest person. It took him a second but then he realized who he was fighting, Tai looked over a Koji for a second. The young Uchiha would be fighting his friend. It didn’t bother him that much, it actually relieved him since he knew all the same jutsu as Koji, and the only thing was that Koji didn’t know any taijutsu techniques which made things easy.

“But that’s not all. They are going to put in certain rules for each of the fights. They gave example of taijutsu techniques only, or they might blindfold us. There is no real way for us to know since those are just examples,” Ryu said.

Tai couldn’t stop thinking about his predetermined fight with Koji he was already starting to get excited. Tai’s father came to the door and started talking to the kids.

“Alright you guys, you should get going they sometimes start the exams early if there’s 75% of the student population there, good luck to all of you. Tai don’t forget what I told you earlier,” Tai’s father said and then he walked away.

Tai left the house with his friends as they started to walk to the academy. The streets were packed with people that day. As the four academy students made their way to the shinobi academy they couldn’t help but think. All of them were wondering about what to say to the other. They had to think extra hard about what to say to Koji since he would have the hardest fights ahead of him. Even if he lost to Tai he would still have to fight one of the shinobi in the middle, and if he lost that one too he wouldn’t graduate.

They had made it to the ninja academy without saying a word. There were already about 20 kids there and it looked like they were about to get started. The four students walked over to the sign up desk and told the man that was there their names. After a few minutes the guy at the counter and signed all of them up and told them who they were fighting. Tai was still scheduled to fight with Koji and they were going to be the first ones to fight. They’re names were called to the arena so that they could begin.

They said their goodbyes to everyone and they told each other good luck as they should have. Tai made his way to the arena. It was a large square shaped arena that was surrounded by high walls so that everyone could see them fight from a bird’s eyes view. Standing up at the top of a stairway there were their 5 sensei and next to them there was a table with all of the headbands sitting on it in neat rows.

At the head of the sensei there, one of them stepped forward probably to give the opening ceremonies to the exam. It was a woman that looked like the average age for a chuunin maybe 17 or 18 years old. She had been Tai’s sensei and she was the one who taught Tai and his friends Taijutsu skills. Her hair was long and black that reached to her shoulders. She had deep green eyes and was wearing her chuunin flak jacket.

“Alright everyone listen up. This is what all of you have been waiting for, this is your genin exams. There are 24 of you here today and only 4 of you will not pass this exam. This is how it will work for those of you that don’t know. It’s a simple tournament, you fight until you win, once you lose 2 matches you end up in the second heat. The last 4 from the second heat will not pass. Basically once you win a fight you graduate. You all know who you’re going to be fighting based on your rank in the class. Good luck to all of you,” the woman said and she then stepped off of the stage signaling the announcer to begin the fight.

The announcer was just a man with a big drum. Once he hit the drum that signaled for the fight to begin. The two students stood there and tried to stare each other down. It even worked with Tai; his deep black eyes were enough to startle Koji. The young Akimichi wasn’t ready to fight Tai yet. Tai had entered his fighting stance and had planned on ending the fight as quickly as possible to save Koji the embarrassment and to finally get his hands on one of those headbands. The drum sounded and the battle had begun

Tai didn’t waste any time to attack, he charged at Koji head on. When he reached him he threw a huge haymaker for his face, Koji tried to block it but with little success and the attack was a direct hit. Koji flew back several feet and was lying on the flat of his back. It looked like the kid had been beaten in one punch but he was able to get back on his feet. Koji stood there for a moment and tried to collect himself and he was ready for another go.

Tai didn’t hesitate to attack him again he charged him the same way as he did the last time, head on. He got to him quickly and punched him in the face again, however this time Koji disappeared and was quickly replaced by a rock that was on the ground. The punch was able to shatter the rock into several pieces but it also hurt Tai’s hand. Koji didn’t hesitate to perform his own attack; he took out his jo staff and charged at Tai.

Koji attack with a stabbing motion with his staff but Tai sidestepped it Koji then turned around and attacked with the back side of the staff but it wasn’t enough and Tai jumped back to make some room between him and his enemy. Koji used the Bunshin jutsu next and created a clone of himself, the clone then jumped in front of the real one, Tai charged at the one in front but before he could attack him Koji threw his jo staff through the clone.

Tai was lucky enough to see it coming, since he could see past the clones head. Tai then caught Koji staff and attacked him with it. Tai performed a 5 hit combo with the staff and finished it off with a knee to the face. Koji was on the ground with a broken nose and disturbed vision. The young Akimichi took his time getting up, he wobbled a lot here and there and almost fell over again, he couldn’t see straight and to him it looked like there were 2 Taichi’s.

Koji continued on, he entered his fighting stance and waited for Tai to perform his next move since Koji could hardly walk straight let alone attack. Tai knew that Koji had been given enough punishment but he respected him getting up after all of that, and he continued to fight. Tai charged at Koji again and hit him right in the stomach with the staff, and kicked in on the side of the head.

Koji hit the ground yet again and this time he couldn’t bring himself to get up. There was blood on his face, sweat in his eyes, and pain all over his body. He knew that if he got up again there was a chance that Tai would do enough damage to him to keep him from fighting again. He decided to walk away from the fight with his body intact and to fight again instead of breaking every bone in his body.

Before Koji could say anything the sensei sitting down at the top of the stair way stood up and started talking.

“This fight is over, the winner is Uchiha Taichi. Please step forward and claim your reward,” the teacher said.

Tai looked at Koji for a second and walked over to him before he went up to get his reward.

“Hey Koji you fought great man, you just need to get faster your strategies are amazing though thinking of throwing the staff through a clone was a good idea, but you didn’t throw it fast enough. Good luck in your next fight,” Tai said to his friend.

Tai walked up the stairs to see his sensei. Everyone kept their eyes on him they were amazed that he had beaten Koji so easily without having to use any jutsu at all, just his speed and taijutsu techniques. Tai looked up at the sensei there; she picked up a headband from the pile and held it in front of Tai. Tai was relieved had had done well, he graduated 1st in his class and had no problems during the exam, his sensei than started speaking to him.

“Good job Tai, you did very well this year and you’ve graduated first in your class. I give you this headband to show that you have reached the genin rank. You will receive letters for your mission from the hokages office soon. They will start off as D and C rank mission but some times if genin have shown great skill and are very lucky they get B-rank missions. Congratulations you are free to leave whenever you like, you can stay here and watch the rest of the matches as well,” his sensei said and then she called up the next fighters.

Tai wanted to stick around and watch the rest of the matches but instead he went to the hospital wing to see how Koji was doing, he felt guilty about hitting him so hard and wanted to see if he was ok. When Tai got to the hospital wing he saw his friend sitting there with taped up arms and he had a metal piece on his nose to keep it in place. Tai walked over to his friend and asked if he was ok.

“Hey Koji, you alright man?” Tai asked

“Ya I’ll be fine it’ll probably be an hour before my next match so I’ll have enough time to get used to this metal thing on my face,” he replied

“That’s good to hear, I just wanted to see if you were ok, I should let you get some rest now before your next match,” Tai said and then he left the room.

Tai went back to the matches to see how his friends had done. Ryu was ranked second in the class so he should have finished his match already. Hitomi was 8th so he might have to wait a minute to see her fight. When Tai got to the arena lobby he saw Ryu there with a headband on his head.

“Hey Ryu, it’s a good thing you managed to win one of those things because if you didn’t I don’t think I could have been your friend anymore,” Tai said with a smile on his face trying to make a joke without any luck.

“Well ya I won, you didn’t really think I’d lose did you? Anyway Hitomi’s fighting right now I think. They went through a bunch of them real quick; do you want to go see how she’s doing?” Ryu asked

“Oh definitely, let’s go,” Tai said.

The two genin made their way to the arena to see how their friend was doing, but before they got there they ran into her. Hitomi was wearing a headband around her neck very loosely, and she had a big smile on her face. It turned out that the 3 of them had all gotten their headbands in the first round.

“Hey Hitomi, good job on getting you’re headband.” Ryu said

“Thanks I’m so happy I got it with you guys, too bad Koji didn’t get his he’s going to have to wait until tomorrow now to get another chance, since they moved the fights for the 2nd heat to tomorrow,” she said.

The three of them stood in the lobby and continued to talk to each other about what was going one. They decided that they were all going to go their separate ways from there and come back the next day to see Koji fight again. Tai was walking home very proud of himself, he tried not to let it go to his head but it did a little bit. He was excited about telling his parents that he passed the exam and had become a genin. He just wondered when he would get his first mission.

The End
