Lesson 1: The Hakke Kuushou

“Come on, old man!” Jomei yelled to his grandfather as he stood in the front door of his new home. Jomei was supposed to go on a training journey today, just so that he could learn the Hyuuga clan’s secret techniques. Of course Jomei didn’t want to go, but since his grandfather was the boss, he kind of had no choice. Once gramps makes up his mind…there’s pretty much nothing that you can do about it.

As Jomei waited for an answer, he tapped his feet as little veins popped out from his forehead. He waited for a good thirty seconds before he called to his grandfather again, but there was no answer. It’s like no one was in the house. This really upset Jomei, because if he was going to be forced into this, he wanted to go ahead and get it over with. He didn’t want to stay in the woods for too long. One reason is that there wouldn’t be any girls around for him to mess with. So this really messed up his week.

Since he called for his grandfather at least thrice, he threw down his camping gear and stormed back into the house. He was going to tear his grandfather a new air hole. He should know better than to ignore Jomei. Otherwise, Jomei will do something to get that attention. Jomei thought to himself as he thrashed through the house and his eyes burned with anger.

You know…I could just kill this old man and get it over with. He drives me so crazy sometimes. Jomei looked throughout the house. There was no one around. No Kiyoshi, and no Senshi, whom is usually in his room writing in his journal at about this time.

Jomei just took about all that he could stand. He went back to the front door and grabbed his bag. He thought to himself about going into the woods by himself to practice the Jyuuken, but then again, he should wait for his grandfather. He’s supposed to teach him some more techniques. So Jomei turned around and headed back inside. I think that I’m going to make things difficult for Gramps when he gets back. I just don’t know what yet…

Jomei walked back to his room and threw his camping gear down at the foot of his bed. He then flopped down onto his bed and closed his eyes and just went into thought, which is quite abnormal for him, period.

I wonder…just where is that old fart, and where is Senshi? Did they go off on a training exercise with out me or are they just pulling a fast one on me. Hmm…I’m clueless, but I should just be careful and keep and extra cautious eye over everything. There’s no telling what that old man and Senshi have been up to.

Jomei then opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling. He noticed that there was a kunai with a note attached to it stuck to the ceiling. It was odd, because who ever stuck it there knew that was where Jomei was going to look after he entered his room.

Jomei slowly climbed to his feet as he kept an eye out for anything to happen. Since someone has been in his room with out him knowing, anything could happen now.
He grabbed the kunai and ripped the note from it and began to read (Good thing that it wasn’t an explosive note…)
QUOTE
Jomei
Sorry that I couldn’t take you on that trip into the woods. Senshi and I had some other business to handle, so we couldn’t stay, and I’m sorry to tell you at such short notice.
Kiyoshi~

Jomei read this and was both happy and displeased at the same time. He was happy because he didn’t want to go on this trip to begin with, but on the other hand, he was displeased because he was going to learn some new techniques. So he turned out to be confused, which is a completely normal thing for Jomei.

“Well I didn’t want to go on this trip anyway, so I think that I’m going to go mess with Kasumi now.” Jomei didn’t realize that there was another part to the letter, he just crumpled it up and put it in his pocket. (He has a bad habit of putting things in his pocket, he’ll get ready for bed and just pull out all kinds of things from his pockets before he does anything else.) Then he gets ready and then runs to the front door. He now had a mission, to irritate Kasumi until her head explodes.

Just as soon as Jomei reaches the front door to his house, he sees that he left it open, so he decides to just jump through it. He gets good speed and then leaps through the opening. Only then he remembers that they had a screen door that just happened to be closed, so he goes right through it, taking it right off the hinges.

Brushing himself off and placing the door back in place, he once again sets off on his journey to piss of Kasumi. But this journey was shortened, because Kasumi was right behind him and she saw the whole thing. She was laughing so hard that here eyes were watering and her face was cherry red. She was bent down, with one hand on her knee and she was pointing the other at Jomei, as she about collapsed from the stupidity that Jomei displays on a daily bases.

Jomei, embarrassed from what he thinks she just saw, just turned around, blushed and rubbed the back of his head, “Umm…Hi Kasumi…wh—what are you doin’ here?”

Kasumi stood erect and then took a deep breath to try and calm herself from the probably stupidest thing that she has ever seen a shinobi do. With a feint giggle in her voice, all she could manage to tell him was that she was to train him for his grandfather.

Jomei’s eye’s got big, “You…a girl…teach me? Yeah right. What kind of place is it for a wo—”

Before he could finish his sentence, Kasumi was right in front of him with a kunai tip resting up against his jugular. “What was that…?” Kasumi spoke as if she weren’t in a good mood all of a sudden. It was as if someone had licked all the red off of her candy. She was super pissed, and glaring straight into Jomei’s eyes.

Almost soiling himself, Jomei starts to shake and then speak in broken English, “Umm…Ka…Kasumi—What are…you d, doing here…?” This was hard to say because of the kunai that was proving to be a hazard to his life. Plus he wanted to change the subject quickly, because there was no telling what that crazy girl would do next. She’s way more moody than the average girl, at times.

Realizing that she’s about to kill him, Kasumi removes the kunai and places it back in its holster, and then jumped back from Jomei. So she could get some space, and to also avoid any more contact from Jomei’s ever wandering hands.

“Didn’t you get the note that your grandfather left you before he went fishing with Senshi? He put it above your bed so you could miss it.” Kasumi had a surprised look on her face. She couldn’t believe that Jomei appears to have not gotten it.

Jomei got pissed real quick, “Fishing!? They went FISHING!!!? They mentioned something about taking care of business and they wouldn’t be back for a while. He was supposed to take me on some stupid training trip into the forest so I could learn some more of our clan’s teachings!” Jomei took a deep breath, and then started down his steps and onto the lawn. Then he realized something else that was wrong with what Kasumi had told him, “AND HE TOOK SENSHI!!!? My grandfather is off on a fishing trip with that boy? He took some complete stranger that just came into our lives fishing, instead of me, his own flesh and blood!?”

Kasumi looked startled, she didn’t know what to say that was of any help to his situation, except, “Well…technically, all Hyuuga are related, so that means that he’s practically taking his nephew on a fishing trip, instead of his grandson, but that’s still pretty bad in itself.” She realized that that was still not very helpful, and it was probably worse than actually staying quiet. Jomei just had his head down with the veins popping off of his head. Kasumi Just put her head down as a sweat drop drooped over her head.

“Well anyway, didn’t that letter mention something about me? It was supposed to. Don’t tell me that he forgot to mention what I was supposed to help you with.” Kasumi crossed her arms and just stood there with a look of disapproval covering her face, “I swear, that old man sometimes…Jomei look at that letter again and tell me if there was anything that you missed.”

Jomei took the letter out of his pocket and straightened it out and began to look at it. He saw the parts that he read earlier, and then there was another part that he missed.

QUOTE
P.S. Boy, I got you a substitute for me, Kasumi is going to go on that trip with you and teach you what I was supposed to. She’s an advanced Hyuuga, so she’s good enough to teach you. Also, I know that you may have missed this portion of the letter and just started to read it when you met up with Kasumi after crashing through the screen door, again, and she probably just told you what Senshi and I are doing, sorry about that boy, I thought that I could at least get some distance before you got to read this part.

Jomei just rips the paper up and throws it to the ground. He’s really ticked that he missed that part of the letter, after he had already read it once before. He was happy though that Kasumi was going to go with him into the woods with him to teach him some things.

With a big grin on his face, Jomei asked Kasumi to hold on while he goes to get his swag before they proceed on their trip. Jomei runs to his room and grabs his stuff, and then proceeds back to Kasumi, “Okay Kasumi, let’s go! I‘m ready.” With all that said they set off on their trip to the forest outside of Konoha.

As they reached the front gates, Jomei wondered just how far they were going into the forest. They couldn’t be heading too far at all. He then looked over to Kasumi and asked her, “Kasumi, just how far are we going?” Then she started to up the pace that they were moving.

“Well, we’re going a little ways out there,” She started, as she moved a strand of hair from her face, “We’re going far enough so that no one can watch us train, you do remember that as Hyuuga, our techniques are very precious to us, so we have to do our best to protect their secrets from all the other shinobi.”

Jomei just nodded as if he understood, but he thought to himself, Why should we just do all that training in the woods, when we have a perfectly good dojo back at home? This is just a waste of time…

They hurried past the gates and then into the surrounding forest. The first thing that they did was jump into the trees and jump from tree to tree. This made them move a lot faster through the trees. Jomei had a bit of trouble with this, but after they got a ways into the woods, he started to get the hang of moving through the trees. Even though he wasn’t to quiet about it. I think I understand some of the reason that we were supposed to come out here. I think that I was supposed to get some extra shinobi training about movement too. Grandpa, you sly devil…

Jomei laughed to himself as the two shinobi began to move a tad faster through the trees to their destination, which Jomei had no idea where. Hopefully Kasumi knows where they are going, it would so suck if they were to get lost in this deep forest.

Kasumi suddenly stopped and rested on a tree limb. Jomei didn’t see her stop until at the last minute, so he tried to stop immediately which really sucked for him, because he fell from the trees onto the ground below, landing right on his face, leaving a nice imprint of his handsome mug on the ground. Kasumi just looked down at him and laughed to herself. It never amazes her just how stupid Jomei can actually be.

Jomei sprang to his feet and brushed himself off, “I meant to do that,” He put on a goofy grin. There was no way he could play that one off, but that wasn’t going to stop him from trying his best, “So Kasumi, this is where we are going to train? Seems…bleak…”

Kasumi hopped down from the branch she was perched on, he landed gracefully on her feet like she had done it since she was a young girl, which she has…

“Of course this place it bleak, it’s supposed to be. We are going for a desolate place so no one will find us. This way, we get no distractions, and we have all the space that we possibly would need.” Kasumi ran her hand through her hair as she walked toward the small creek that was behind Jomei.

The land here was somewhat soft and sandy. They were camping on a creek bed, there were plenty of trees and other plants around, that proved that the ground was fertile. This means that the water was clean. The sound of the creek running was just loud enough to hear when you’re at silence. This is really soothing when combined with the joyful sound of the birds in the area. So it was probably one of the better training grounds that Jomei has been to in a while.

“So umm, Kasumi. What are you going to teach me first? I’m dying to know…” Jomei started to speak sarcastically. He clearly didn’t want to be here long, but since Kasumi is here, alone with him…he may make an exception.

“Well, I think that I’m going to teach you the Hakke Kuushou. But first we need,” Kasumi assumed the Jyuuken fighting stance and then finished her statement, “to warm up a bit.” she though that a quick warm up before teaching anything to him would be better for the learning process. Jomei agreed and then put up his guard. They had a dramatic pause for a second before Jomei went straight into Kasumi. His head on assault would probably fool her in the beginning.

Kasumi was expecting this attack from him. It was his usual pattern. So she readied herself for what he was about to do. Sometimes, his attacks can be so random that she wouldn’t know how to react. She braced herself for what would be anything possible that Jomei could do.

Jomei charged for her and then thought of something that would be cool to use on her. He’s never tried this before but it was worth a shot. He quickly but together some hand seals and then ran right into Kasumi’s reach. Following the hand seals with a quick punch to the chest.

Kasumi reacted quickly by using her right arm to grab Jomei’s wrist and tucks his arm under hers and then using her left hand and thrusting her palm into Jomei’s chest. Too easy, she thought to herself.

Sure enough, Jomei had used a kawarimi no jutsu and what she had taken out was a normal log. Astonished that he would start off with so much style, she quickly started to look for a place that he could have gone to. What she didn’t realize was that Jomei had an even greater move planed than that.

The ground started to shake a tiny bit. It was like the ground under her was being moved. Startled she looked down to realize that there was a giant shadow surrounding her.

She looked up to see that Jomei had used the kawarimi no jutsu in a combination with a sabaku fuyuu. Jomei had pumped an enormous amount of chakra into it forming a ridiculously large island in the sky. He was standing up on it striking a stupid looking pose and yelling something to Kasumi, “Hey! I hope you like this one!”

Kasumi just stood up and laughed at him. This angered Jomei, so he just gave another threat and then dropped the island on top of her. What he didn’t realize was that he was on top of the thing, and it was going to crash into the ground with him too, but Kasumi had her own plan of attack. She changed her position and then focused her chakra. Then performed the move that she was going to teach to Jomei, the Hakke Kuushou. She sent up a major burst of chakra towards the island.

Jomei just put on a Kamikaze headband and then went down with the ship. When the island hit the burst from the Hyuuga signature move, it scattered the sand all over the place in the form of a giant cloud. It didn’t take him long to ruin the whole training ground. As a matter in fact, that was a new record for him.

The sand coated everything, the trees, it blocked the creek’s flow. There was one dune in the middle of the area, and all that you could see over it was Jomei’s legs, twitching.

Jomei pulled himself out of the sand pile and looked around for Kasumi, she was standing in the only place that there was no sand. This really amazed Jomei, he didn’t expect that technique to be so powerful. Now he had to learn it, if he didn’t, he’d never let himself get away with it. The thing though, is that he is now almost out of chakra from that previous attack. Being an inexperienced shinobi like that he didn’t know that he should at least conserve some chakra for his training session.

He begged for a break. He needed a break, he didn’t care to do anything at this point. He just wanted to rest before he passed out. He went to his bag that he had brought along and grabbed some trail mix that he brought along just incase he got hungry during the trip there.

After his snack and a quick rest, he was rearing to go again. Kasumi was getting impatient, and she wanted to start the lesson as quickly as possible. She didn’t want to stay alone with him for too long. She knew what he was capable of, and she didn’t want to have anything to do with it.

“Okay, teach me now. I have to know how to do this, if you teach me, I’ll be a good boy for the rest of this trip.” Jomei was really excited about this. Now he’s glad that he came on this trip. God I feel stupid of even thinking about ditching this trip.

Kasumi, just brushed herself off of any excess sand and then walked over to Jomei. She pulled her hair back over her ear, crossed her arms, and made a face like she was thinking about it. “Hmm…maybe. You promise that you’ll be a good boy?” She was really happy that he’d give up his usual ways just to learn a simple technique.

Jomei crossed his fingers behind his back and then nodded like a good finger, “Of course. Anything to learn that move.” With that said, he stood to attention and gave his full undivided attention, which that usually doesn’t last long. So at least Kasumi gets to enjoy a little bit of peace from his stupidity.

“Okay Jomei, this is what you do.” She explained each step in full about what to do. Of course Jomei didn’t get any of it, he lost interest in the explanation after she started speaking. So he just nodded wildly and just repeating the last couple of words that she’d say at the end of each step. It was about after the third or fourth step that she realized that explaining this to him would be useless, so she tried to do a hands on approach.

“Y’know what, lets just go with a hands on approach,” at this point, Jomei was all ears, as soon as he heard that from Kasumi, you wouldn’t believe the things that ran through his little mind, but it was a short run because they didn’t have much room to go, “Jomei are you listening to me!? Jomei, JOMEI!!!”

Jomei snapped to, he had a bit of drool running down his chin and a look of bliss was spread across his face. He wiped himself off and then straightened his face and then stood to attention so that he could learn this technique. Kasumi watched this and was a little irritated with what she saw.

She then cleared her throat and then began with what she wanted Jomei to do again, “Jomei, watch what I do, then I’m going to do it again, and that’s when I want you to follow with what I do. Do you understand me?”

Jomei nodded and then plopped down where he stood and then studied the moves that Kasumi did. She focused her chakra, and put her hand in a certain sign. It was one that Jomei had seen his grandfather use before, it may have been one that only the Hyuuga would know.

Kasumi then took a step forward and planted her right foot. She then thrust her hand forward, palm out, like most of the other moves of the Hyuuga. Once she did that, Jomei could feel the burst of chakra that poured out from her hand. It was a powerful burst. Powerful enough to blow most unwary ninja away, with substantial force. Jomei was astonished that someone so small could exert so much force, so…effortlessly.

“Hey, ahh…Kasumi, would you mind doing that again? I wanted to see one thing before I try it.” Jomei seemed concerned about something. What he really wanted was to check the chakra flow in her body to see how much effort she had to put into this move. When she went to do it again, he activated his Byakugan and studied the movement of her chakra.

Just as he thought, her chakra was being focused and concentrated in the center of her body, and as she would thrust her palm, the chakra would jet through her arm like a round through a cannon, and her arm being the barrel. Also, the view of the chakra being discharged from her palm was a view to behold in itself. It looked as if a prism had been hit with a ray of light. The chakra danced through the air as it vanished into the distance.

Jomei was in shock. This thing looked so cool. So he decided to try it now. He climbed to his feet and then got into the same stance as Kasumi. “Okay, just show me what to do and I’ll follow.” He was quite intrigued by this that he didn’t really feel like himself at the moment. He was more focused on this new technique than he was on making his moves on Kasumi, for at least the moment.

Kasumi nodded and then proceeded into the movements. Jomei attempted to copy her the best he could, but due to his natural clumsiness he couldn’t follow her exactly so when it came time to thrust his chakra through his arm, all that he could send out was a small breeze of air that barely moved the sand that was still scattered on the ground in front of him.

Kasumi just laughed at his first attempt, and then explained that it was okay that he failed his first attempt at it. She told him about how she failed her first couple of tries at it and then encouraged him to try it again. Jomei agreed, and that he had meant to fail at it on his first try so that she wouldn’t feel bad about herself that he could do it faster than her. This just dug a hole for him, and he knew it. He just couldn’t bring himself to admit that he failed, because he messed up. It was too embarrassing to say in front of a girl.

She just laughed again and then asked if he were ready to run through the steps again. Jomei just readied himself and then proceeded through the moves again. Though this time proved to be a better attempt, still there was not much improvement. All that he managed to do this time was make a dust cloud in front of him.

Jomei turned to Kasumi, rubbed his head with that same big goofy grin and asked her, “Kasumi, just how many times did you have to try this before you got the hang of it? Just so that I’ll know how difficult this thing is going to be, and so that I know how long it‘ll take to actually learn this thing.” Jomei was so concerned about this that it was actually causing him to lose interest in it. But he went on trying it over and over again.
Each time was another failed attempt. He just couldn’t figure out what was going wrong. He would get all the movements right, well at least close. He could also control his chakra, mostly, but there was something; something was missing, and it was killing Jomei to figure it out.

“Umm…Kasumi, what am I doing wrong? I’m doing everything as closely as possible without messing it up too badly. Could you help me out?” Jomei looked so pathetic. He was about defeated over this. He was starting to want to give up and just go to bed. If only he could just figure out what was going wrong, then he may could just do it.

Kasumi asked him to do it again so she could view his procedure in progress through Jomei’s version of it. She activated her Byakugan and then viewed into his body. She wanted to see if it was something else besides his physical movements, because she knows that they won’t be perfect.

As she watched his chakra flow through his body, everything seemed okay, right up to the part to where he had to force his chakra through his arm. Every time that he would go to do it, there would be an imbalance in his chakra flow, throwing everything out of whack. This is what was causing the problem. It was something going on in his head, and it probably wasn’t pretty. Kasumi was scared to even think about what those dirty little wheels were turning in. But…she had to ask so that he could clear his mind and do the technique.

“Jomei, what are you thinking about right now?” Kasumi asked this with a somewhat grimace on her face. She really didn’t want to know, because it could be about anything at all.

Jomei just looked at her with a confused look on his mug. He stopped what he was doing and then looked at her with a big smile. Then he thought about it. What was going wrong was in his head. So now I’ll just clear my mind. That couldn’t be hard to do. There’s really not that much to clear though. So what’s the problem? Gah! there’s no telling…

Jomei looked over at Kasumi, and watched her. As soon as he looked at her, his mind became clouded again and then he couldn’t think straight. Though he couldn’t see this, he wasn’t smart enough, so he couldn’t help it. He just went back to trying the jutsu again.

Kasumi thought about this for a while. Then she had to go take care of some personal business. So she left Jomei unsupervised for a little while. It seemed okay to her. He’s got plenty to do now to keep him occupied for him to even know that she’s gone for a little while. She hopped up into a tree and sped off to take care of her business.

Jomei was rapidly trying the jutsu over and over. Time after time again, he would fail over and over again. Exhausted, he turned to Kasumi again for advice, but she was no where to be found. Jomei looked all around for her and saw that she had left.

“Damn, now what am I going to do? I don’t have anyone to tell me what I’m doing wrong…” Jomei had a mad look across his face. Then he thought about what Kasumi had said about clearing his mind, so he calmed himself and then tried the jutsu again.

He focused his chakra into the center of his body and then gathered it there for a while. He took his time this time so he could make sure that he did everything just as Kasumi said. He then forced his palm forward and then wouldn’t you know it, a huge wave of chakra blew out of his hand. It was powerful enough to cut a nice path through the sand and it created a nice big dust cloud.

Jomei froze. His mouth gaped open as his eye’s opened wide as he stared down the small path of destruction that he made. This was a new thing to him. Just a little while ago, he had no way of doing this move. Now he’s tried it again, with nothing changed, he’s able to do it. This was really confusing Jomei. He had to sit or else he was going to pass out from all the thinking that he’s done lately.

He plopped down on the ground and just stared at what he had done. He couldn’t believe that he had accomplished what he couldn’t do just a while ago. He just sat there until the shock wore off. He jumped to his feet and then started his usual strut.

“Ohh yeah! Who’s the man!? Ain’t nobody as good as me! Can’t be! Uh huh!” He was so loud that Kasumi heard him and rushed back to camp.

“What happened?” She darted out of a tree and landed right beside Jomei. She took a second to look around and saw the effects of Jomei’s handiwork.

Jomei turned around to Kasumi and put his arm around her neck and pulled her to him, “I have accomplished what I have set out to do. I have done the Hakke Kuushou.” He tried to talk as smoothly as he possibly could. Which pissed Kasumi off because reason number one, he was touching her. Reason number two; he was talking like an ass. This she really hated, so she decided to take action.

She grabbed his wrist and began to go psycho. She began by twisting his wrist and throwing him over her shoulder. This caused him to land perfectly on his face. Using her Byakugan, she thrashed him a few times in the back of his head. She kind of enjoyed her beating of him. Jomei on the other hand…well didn’t enjoy it all that much. He was on his face with appears to be several huge bumps on his head.

Kasumi just let him go and left him there as she took a few steps away from him. She didn’t like the fact that he had broken his promise to her. She did expect him to break it, but she did hope that he’d hold it just until they got back to the village.

“Well…If you did do it, why not do it again? I’d like to see what you did to improve fast enough to do it. If you can do it again, we’ll go home right now, because the lesson will be complete and then I don’t have to worry about you for a while.” She was still a little frustrated from what he did. She doesn’t calm down easily. It does take her awhile to do.

Jomei sprang up to his feet again. He made another one of his miraculous recoveries. Or at least he thought so. He looked a bit shaken up still from his previous beating.

“Okay…I’ll try it again. But not for you, I just want to go home now. You have just sapped all the fun out of this.” Jomei got back into his stance and started to concentrate on this jutsu. He was ready to go home.

He took a deep breath as he attempted to clear his mind and go through all the steps again. He focused his chakra, and then let it erupt from his palm, just for…nothing, again.

“Kasumi…I swear, I just did it before you came back. I just don’t know what happened.” Jomei was awestruck from his failed attempt. He couldn’t believe that he went from failure, to success, to failure. He just looked up to Kasumi whom was looking kind of irritated that he was lying about this.

“Sure you did. I really truly believe you…” Kasumi sounded so sarcastic. She was getting tired of his for one day, and it was getting kind of dark. So she decided to call it a night. She wanted to get an early rest so that she could get up early to see what Jomei is doing wrong.

Jomei just retreated to his quarters for the night. He was feeling miserable, and was ready to just go to bed.

As Kasumi lay in her tent, she pondered the events that happened all day. She thought to herself about how he couldn’t do the jutsu while she was there, and when she left, he did it. “Could it be that he’s to distracted by me to actually execute this jutsu? I’ll have to experiment with this in the morning.” And with that, she turned over in her bed and went to sleep.

Jomei was laying outside. He had forgot to pack his tent, and his sleeping bag. Now that I think about it, that would have been a good idea to bring that. But noooo…I had to pack light so that I could travel quickly. Jomei didn’t think anymore as it hurt his head, so he just went to sleep using a mound of sand as a pillow.

Jomei was awaken by his grandfather, “Boy what the hell are you doing out here by yourself? You think that you can teach yourself a move that you don’t know yet?”

Jomei jumped to his feet. He was startled that his grandfather had came all this way from the village, just to see what he was doing. Then he thought that it was kind if funny that he was by himself all of a sudden. He’d have to ask Kasumi why he’d say something like that.

He looked around to see her tent. It wasn’t where it was last night. There was no sign of it ever being there at all. In fact, it was like she hadn’t come with him at all.

“Umm…Kasumi was just here. I could have sworn that she was with me. I just learned the Hakke Kuushou yesterday, and I actually got it…once.” Jomei’s face turned red as he was embarrassed that he actually had to tell his grandfather that.

“Well, then show me what you can do then. Hopefully you know what you are doing now. You had a whole day to work on it. Well, go ahead, show me what you can do.” Kiyoshi slapped his shoulder and then shoved him out into the open so he could have room to do the jutsu that he tried so hard to do yesterday.

“Well, okay…I’ll try it, but I don’t think that I’ll be able to do any better than yesterday.” Jomei said this as he readied himself for his performance.

Once again, he ran through the steps of the Hakke Kuushou. He ran through them exactly like he did before, with nothing changed. Once he forced his palm forward. The wave of air busted from arm like it did before. It was another passed attempt.

“Now why couldn’t I do it on command yesterday?” Jomei just turned and put up his victory sign and then started like he knew what to do all along.

“Now do it as many times as you can in a row. Then I’ll admit that you are a master of it.” Kiyoshi laughed as he stood there watching him.

Jomei did it again, except faster. It was another successful attempt. He tried to do it several times over and over. Each time that he did the jutsu, he kept it up. He was doing all successful attempts. Everything was perfect. He was wondering why he couldn’t do it yesterday.

“AH HA!!! I knew that was the problem!” Jomei looked back as Kiyoshi started to yell out from across the training ground. He then changed into Kasumi through a giant poof of smoke. Kasumi then started to laugh at Jomei.

Jomei looked back at her in confusion. He has no idea what was going on. So he tried to play the whole thing off, “Kasumi! I knew that was you all along! I had you so fooled into believing that you had me fooled.” Jomei was being so obvious about this. It couldn’t be helped, it was his nature.

Kasumi just wanted to test her theory a little more, “Okay then Jomei, do the Hakke Kuushou again. I want to see if you can do it again now that I’m here.”

“Of course I can do it. You just saw me do it a few times back to back. But okay, I’ll do it again if it makes you happy.” Jomei went to do it, and this time was a failure once again. Jomei was speechless because he was freaking over his failure.

“I give up…this thing just doesn’t work for me when you’re around…” Jomei paused after he said that. He realized what he just said. Then he thought about what always happens when he sees her when he’s trying to do his jutsu. He just starts to think about her…and he can’t stop. His mind is so focused on her that he can’t keep up with what he’s doing.

“You see. You had no problem with doing that jutsu, you are just a baka that can’t keep his mind to himself. If you wouldn’t worry about me, you could do it.” Kasumi had an annoyed look on her face. She was just ready to go home as soon as possible so that she could get the feeling of Jomei off of her, so with one more command from Kasumi, the duo gather their belongings and head back to the village.

Jomei and Kasumi reach the front door of Kiyoshi’s house. The two ninja say their goodbyes, and Jomei tries one more time to make a move on Kasumi, just to get hurt in the process, and then Kasumi does a series of hand seals and then vanishes with a poof of smoke.

Jomei walks into his home to see that his grandfather and Senshi were in the dining room. They were just finished eating fish that they had caught on that fishing trip that they were supposed to instead go with Jomei into the woods to train.

“Hey Jomei! How’d the trip go!? Sis you learn anything new?” Kiyoshi asked him so nonchalantly. Like it was no problem that he skipped out on this trip.

Jomei’s eye’s burned with anger, and then he calmed himself and emitted and evil smile, “Well if you were there in stead of screwing around with that little wuss there, you’d know…Now wouldn’t you?”

Senshi was about to get up to show Jomei a thing or two, but Kiyoshi just grabbed his shoulder and then said that he’d take care of it. Then he commenced to come straight at Jomei with a chop that was directed for the side of his face.

Once his attack was committed, Jomei’s eye’s sparkles as he performed the Hakke Kuushou once again to send his grandfather sailing backwards through a wall into the middle of the dojo. Kiyoshi sprang to his feet and instead of putting on a face of anger, he instead put on a face of joy that his only grandson has actually learned something. This was a miracle all on its own.

“Jomei, m’boy, you make me proud, now you get to do the dishes, and repair that hole in the wall since you used that jutsu on me with out letting me know ahead of time that you knew it.” Kiyoshi had this all planned out. He wanted Jomei to do the dishes from the start. Making him learn a new technique and then skipping out on the trip so that they could get him mad enough to do something stupid when he got home so that he’d get punished and sentenced into washing all the dished in the house was a stroke of genius in his part.

Jomei just gave up on getting even. So instead of arguing this with his grandfather to only make things worse for himself, he went to the kitchen and then spent the rest of the day cleaning the dishes, which was a chore that he always avoided.

A few sentences threw off your overall flow, although I did enjoy reading the third person reference. Pretty solid!
