Some recent topics here on SR have really made me think about technology in naruto. Let's see, from one side we have ninja who use kunai, shuriken and other ninja things to fight. So like they have no guns >.> . But then, we all have seen the advanced computers and all that stuff that kept Kimimaro alive. So that mean it must be pretty advanced...right? Then, how come there are no guns? And I haven't seen any television either while they seem to have walkie-talkie. (first mission we see naruto and co. catching a cat) And i was wandering if they know some of the most common things we humans know. Like that the earth is round. Well what do you think? They seem pretty advanced but at the same time pretty primitive too...

Maybe there's no material to make gunpowder with? Like a lack of sulphur?

-Actually has a note about this on the personal notepad-

It's true that the technology is very advanced. If you look at the second movie they have a giant mech building thing. And it seems kind of normal to everyone. Like they see it, go "What's that?" and then write it off. The thing is a high tech machine which is like a ton of tanks put together. On top of that they have even more machines inside that create mechanical beings that are controlled through chakra.

And there can't be a lack of gun powder because if you look at puppets, they need SOMETHING to make it so they can launch kunai, bombs, etc.

Don't they use chakra for that?

If you notice when Kankurou launches poison bombs there's a small poison cloud around the puppet when the bomb goes flying.

So it's possible.

But if that's the case, then why can't we have guns, and use chakra instead of gun powder?

When asked about this question, I always pictured it like this.

Kishi says no guns will ever be in the series, but I think its also sort of ironic considering all the other technology. It makes sense though too, because ninja vs. guns... well.... there are some pretty insane ninja but in general.

I figure guns should be acceptable but in a privative form and never to really exceed that. For example, the guns used in Princess Mononoke for example. Privative rifles and such. I've included them in my stories before, despite protests from old staff just because I think it's more than plausible.

I tend to spot problems with the RPG months in advance of them actually becoming problems. It's a recurring theme, one I find oddly ironic.

It wouldn't be too hard to throw them into the system really. dry.gif

Nice ACC boosts, but little damage. Make it nin, since it's the "Everything that doesn't fit in gen or tai" category. And there ya go.

I would think it would have wack accuracy if they are elementary guns. Lots of power but can't shoot for crap. Depending on what the gun is and how it works, you could even just make it a weapon along the lines of an explosive notes... maybe exclusive of stats. I mean.. if a toddler shoots you with a gun its gonna hurt just as much as if an adult shoots you.

Don't make them elemental guns. XD Or you're just creating jutsus.

The point is that the actual style of a gun as a weapon isn't too hard to make. It fits well into the system. And it would open a lot of options for SQing and Missions. <.<

We have drugs, and other stupid crap. Why not guns, ne?

Perhaps the World Of Naruto is just above uncivilized guns.

I dunno.....Shotguns are pretty spiffy....

And I hate guns.....

Plus I've always thought of the first Black ninja.

He pretends his hand is a gun and shoots chakra bullets. But no one wants me to create that guy do they? <.<

Actually, guns do exist in Naruto. I remember seeing a Naruto Movie in which they DID have guns.

Or well, it wasn't really a gun. It was more like a cannon that shot Kunai. But yeah.

You WANT A KUNAI CANNON. HUH?!!????
