I painted out the original lightsabers, replaced them with my own, and added some creative lighting on Vader's helmet.

How I love doing blue lightsabers against dark backgrounds...

It looks good. My only problem is that in the blue saber there seems to be a thick, defined layer of glow outside the core, whereas the red seems to gradually trail off more. I think it has to do with the amount of blur you used. Minor problem, though, and most people probably wouldn't even notice. You might not even know what I'm talking about.

Slight problem with the red one, needs a feathered glow. Otherwise 2 thumbs up

Dan, I grabbed a screenshot from the DVD using Media Player Classic.

I see what you're talking about, but you'll have to trust me when I say that using a similar effect on the red saber looks terrible. If anything, I wish I could minimize that effect on the blue one a bit, but as you said, it's not a huge deal. Keep in mind that blue and red light sources will have different effects on the camera.

Sorry, you'll need to be a little more specific than that. The lightsaber is a white core with a feathered glow, right? What do want me to add? blink.gif

Oh sorry I meant that the core is too sharp.

Gotcha. Perhaps it is...but I don't think it needs much more blur.

The part of this shot I'm most proud of is the lighting on Vader's helmet. All the red and blue was added by hand, and I think it turned out pretty well.

no offence but you blue one looks like its a picture from a camera which makes it over exposed (which is good) but your red one is under exposed, but otherwise nce job and excellent reflections on the helmet, youe obviously put a lot of thought into it

I didn't previously comment on that but if that's all original it looks quite good. biggrin.gif

Looking back on this, I kind of agree with you, Dan. The red lightsaber could be a bit brighter. ("Underexposed" isn't the word you're looking for, though. If it were underexposed, there'd be almost no glow and the blade itself would be colored, not white. The rest of the frame would be black.)
