Sorry guys, i know its ANOTHER one, but I found an effective way rolleyes.gif

This tutorial is based on xz64's tutorial Lightsaber (03) and Joe's tutorial PhotoRealistic Lightsabers tutorial.

Personally I preffer the original trilogy sabers (4,5,6) better than 1, 2 and 3. Here is a pic from the original trilogy.

Now heres the tut.

1. Open your pic and if you have to clone stamp the saber out.

2. Create a new layer filled with black and change its blending mode to screen.

3. Make a selection of your saber and fill it with white

4. If required blur it say 1 pixel or something

5. duplicate it twice and select the bottom layer

6. blur it to create your coloured glow and then blur it again to create the base glow.

7. Apply fade with the blending set to screen mode.

8. select your 2nd layer and change its blending mode to colour dodge.

9. Blur it to create edge glow.

10. select your bottom layer again (coloured and base glow layer) and select variations.

11. Make sure u press oringinal and then I like to click red then magenta then red again.-for variations see my next post

12. Now open variations for edge glow and u can either click original or leave it the same colour it was before and click ok

13. apply levels to edge glow if required and/or adjust hue/sat

14. TADAA!!!!!!!

Some variations and screens

**********BLUE***********

Colouring: When applying variations to coloured glow i like to apply blue, cyan and then blue and sometimes cyan again. For edge glow Use only cyan clicking bout 3-4 times and then sometimes open hue/sat adjusting saturation wothout checking colourize.

**********GREEN**************

Colouring: When doing variations on base glow layer i like to click green, yellow and then green again. Then when applying variations to edge glow layer I like to just clicj ok without clicking original. This makes it the same colour

********PROBLEMS**********

Sharp edges: As suggested by Joe to fix this gausiann blur it normally about 4 pixels after colouring etc.

Too dim: To solve this u can 1. merge it all into one layer and duplicate it and change the opacity or 2. Open levels and move the right imput slider to the left

*********MORE PICS**************

lol, I hope so tongue.gif Anyway to solve that problem (glow too far) instead of having coloured glow and base glow on the same layer have them on their own and after blurring coloured glow duplicate it so theres two then merge down

o ty btw thats one hell of a tut mate! gw!!! I love it just as must as Joes and other peoples, the saturation really boosts the cyan colour in edge great work mate, also this great work goes to XZ64 for making a tutorial with the variations colouring technique. Awesome job:D

Thanks for posting this! I agree that the glow goes a little too far, and there's a noticeable edge to the glow. But other than that, good job.
