I would highly recommend www.imageshack.us, dandaman. It's so easy and quick to use, and it's free.
In regards to your question about Levels--yes, that step does make the glow a little dimmer. In many cases, the lightsaber will appear too bright if you don't use Levels to dim the edge glow a little. This step will vary a lot depending on what sort of look you want and what the background is like.
You mentioned you tend to use a lot more saturation than I did in my tutorial. I must admit, I think the saturation values I picked for the lightsabers in my tutorial are too low. The colors do need to be a bit richer, don't they?

I've updated the section on flicker, since I found a method that seems to work a bit better. Less Photoshop-ish, and closer to the original effect.

Thanks. I've also just added a section on matting--a rather important aspect I didn't cover.

Uploading an image to Imageshack is nice because it allows you to insert images anywhere in the post. Uploading directly to the post is fine if you don't mind the image being located at the end of the post.

I've at last fallen for the Color Balance method, so I've edited the tutorial accordingly.

Hue and Saturation gives you a more limited palette of colors on the lightsaber. Color Balance is more complex to use, but the results can be a little more realistic if you really know what you're doing.
