I walk out of the gym and into the small town. First, I decide to give my three rare candies to my Dratini. So I let her out, and give her the three candies to eat.

dratini ate the little candies and seemed to be a bit stronger after each one

as you approach, you see a level 8 female sandshrew
it doesn't seem to have noticed you yet, so it was quite vulnerable... |

sandshrew is hit and left very weak, but simply uses a defense curl to raise its defense a notch

sandshrew manages to roll out of the way and avoid the attack. it then raises its defense with another defense curl
