So, if you were to theoretically join a branch of your country's armed forces, which would you join, and why?

For those of you who have been or are going to be in a branch, just select what you branch you were/are gonna be in.

I'd join the MArines. Stern stuff, but I like how they focus on the infantry. Plus, they romanticize marksman ship.....taking those full-size M16A4's over the comfortable M4's cuz they prize longshots over handiness.

I was a Marine... Put you money where your mouth is. Join em and see how long you can hack it...

Me I joined becuase I wanted a challange that jsut wouldn't roll over and let me skatethrough... I wanted something that would Force me to eighter learn grow and become stronger. I felt the marines where the toughest of the tough and so I joined.

I have been known to use other rifles then the Standized M16A2... It mission critical really.. the M16A2 is opted for more often then not but it not the only rilfe or configuration used to arm Marines.

Yes... Marines Tend to be almost overly concerned with The Notion of the Lone Rifleman turning the tides or changing the world. Presidents have been killed by a Marine and his rifle.

Marines get a dose of pride and belonging in Basic that you get in very few other places. This is o help build a stronger more self capable Marines. Some call it brain washing... to some it really is brainwashing. but you must tare down a soldier to build them back better then then they where before and so if the time comes... they have a greater chance for survival...

to me there was no other option...

I'd take Coast Guard, because they spend the majority of their time directly helping the common man. That, and they get to do some crazy fun shit. laugh.gif

Marine Corps all the way. Not only are they the most hardcore, with their 'We didn't promise you a rose garden' mentality, I'm gonna be 4th Generation Marines. My Great Granddad hit WWI, my Grandpa hit WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. My dad was in for the Vietnam Evacuation. Not to mention, no uniform on this earth is sexier than Dress Blues. Put the ugliest damn person on Earth in Blues, and I guarantee they'll look a damn site better.

Oh fuck yeah... I loved my Dress uniform... Man oh man you wear a Marine Dress uniform in a Bar on ladies night... a whole room of women will gravitate to you soked and ready to leave the party in your comany... with our with out other female company half the time...

Then again... If the Ugly dude earned the right to wear the Marine dress uniform... they will be looking good in the body department... there is no better way to get in peek shape then to endure Marine Basic training... they will make for damn sure you look and feel at you very best or kill you trying...

My country doesn't have marines, or much of an Airforce, neither does it have Marines, and we don't kill people with our ccoast guard, so I have to be Army.

I'd probably join the coast guard. They need women in there for all the... searching and things...

Yes, I admit it, I'm a wuss. Unlike most people, I'd be the last to go out on the line and get my arse killed unless there was something - a lot of something - in it for me. The problem with having a vivid imagination is imagining all the horrible things that could happen to you if you go and join the army.

Sure, it might be different for the rest of you, just that I am far too cautious to actually put my life on the line for a cause I may have any doubts in.

Regardless of the cause, you are fighting for your country. I am an ardent conservative, but if Obama or Hillary gets elected, would I go and serve my country in a pointless 'humanitarian' mission to Africa or some shithole like that, you bet your ass I would. You can't always choose your war, I'm not volunteering so I can make a difference in some other pissant country, I'm going to volunteer to serve my country. The country always needs a military and the government was put in place by the people. Reguardless of whether or not you voted for the government and you should have an obligation. I'm not saying that everyone should have to join the military, what I am saying is that everyone should pay back, in one respect or another, the country that has provided so much to them.

Well well well.

We Italy guys don't have really the same kind of corps as you, but if i had to choose wich corp to belong to, i'd choose the "Incursori". They are like ..uhm...the Rmbo guys here..i've seen some training, they wake up in the morning, they actually JUMP down of the bed in sit-up position and they begin pumping those goddamn muscles, then they run in boxers&t-shirt (yup, even in winter) for about 3 hours and then the poor guys may eat something.

Crazy.
