I'm basically just sitting here watching my student loan money gradually bleed away. The auto industry has so completely gone to shit that there is basically no hope of employment at this point, but I can't bring myself to look for anything else since it would mean the last two years of my life were completely pointless.

Yea know what you mean Ark. Got a couple buddies that work in auto shops and they are dreading loosing their jobs. Got another buddy that lives in Detroit and he's saying that whole neighborhoods out there are ghost towns now on top of that.

GM (the company whose products I specialize in fixing) is in the process of trying to run hundreds of it's dealers out of business. Half the GM dealerships in the area already have to find some other source of income because Saturn and Pontiac are closing down. Most of them sold Saturns or Pontiacs as their general brand and a prestige brand like Buick or Cadillac. They'll have to pick up another brand or something, because the prestige cars aren't going to keep them in business. Doesn't really matter, I'm fairly sure GM is trying to get rid of them to save money anyway.

I have a bunch of assignments due in the upcoming weeks. Woo, assignments. :-/

And I just realised that I promised I'd work tomorrow, although it's the one day I've got to break the back of an assignment really. :-|

School starts back up in a few weeks, so at least I'll finally have something to do besides sitting around here all day.

Looks like I didn't get the job. Not necessarily because I failed the drug test though, still have no idea if I passed it or not, just know that I'm not working.

So I'm still hunting it seems.

Thinking about starting a Lawn Mowing thing up with my buddy right now.

Ark Protip for you:

When a company you applied for many months ago wakes you up in the morning with a phone call wanting an interview, don't reflexively say yes to everything they say. You may wind up setting up an interview in an hour whilst forgetting that your car hasn't been able to start for days. You may wind up throwing yourself onto the first bus you see and miraculously managing to walk in the door perfectly on time, albeit a bit short of breath after dashing the last half mile.

As for me I'm trying to find the money to get out to Kansas to see my adopted sister because her grandpa died. It's been a long uphill battle with rattlesnakes tied to my ankles so far.



In somewhat related but different news I also may be moving out to Montrose and attempting to open up a Hooters out there.

Heh, I lost my job on Saturday coz they didn't have any more hours to give me. Fuckers.

Oh, and it's my birthday today. I'm 19! My boyfriend (through a series of unlikely events I acquired a boyfriend who'll take me out places AND watch zombie movies with me) is taking me out to lunch today - he's such a sweetheart. :-)

All in all, today is looking to be a pretty good day, even though I don't have a job anymore...

I've been putting applications for jobs EVEYWHERE and still no answers. I'm really pissed off about the whole thing now. Nowhere wants to hire me for some unknown reason.

It's getting me down, actually - although I technically can go out and do stuff with my friends, I don't want to because I don't want to have to delve into my savings. Lol, I hate being a scrooge.

And lol, this place is dead as anything. Where's all the people gone? :-p

Try about 7 or 8 months of that and see what it's like.

I got a job...sort of.

Working for myself mostly, sort of a handiman thing. But it's working out Ok for now. Experienced contractor with my own tools so I can basically do just about anything the customer wants, and since I've kept my rates low so far and work fast I've already picked up some jobs through referrals. Kinda plan for this to only be a temporary thing but it keeps gas in the car and food in my belly until I can come up with a better way to make moneies.

And yes Sapphire the job market sucks, to put it lightly. As far as I can tell right now the only work out there at the moment is that what you make for yourself.

Well, new bit of happenings here, I'm in the process of moving my shit back to my parent's house. I've pretty much completely crashed and burned here in Indy, so this is the only option when my lease runs out next month.

To tell the truth I'm kind of relieved, living here sucks. Having your own place isn't all it's hyped up to be. There are no wild parties every night, no exciting new freedoms that you don't quickly tire of. It's just you, alone, stuck there every day with nobody to talk to. When school was out of session earlier this year, I'd go three or four days without speaking to anyone else in person. I'm not a psychologist or anything, but that fucks with you, even someone like me who's very used to being alone.

Anyway, regardless of what a total fuckup it represents, I'll be glad to be around the rest of the family again, as much as they clearly aren't happy about it.

Ark: That sucks... I guess it'd be ok if you had a job to go to everyday, but with the whole job market shrinking... :-/

Since no work has been forthcoming, I'm enrolling myself for a short course at a local college, to learn how to use business software. Once I've completed it, I'm seriously considering taking other units at the college - there seems to be a fair number of jobs for people with bookkeeping and MYOB experience. Jobs in that sector are also better paid and with nicer working conditions than I'm used to... Hopefully. I'll see how it goes.

In other news, a certain young man I have been seeing a lot of recently gave me a rose... Just because we've been going out a month. My friends are all green-eyed envious, which is hilarious since I'm not usually somebody people are jealous of. :-p
