Title: Which of these sports has been your favorite?
Andy S. - May 11, 2006 01:34 AM (GMT)
Of those that we've played at the high school camp.
Andy S. - May 11, 2006 01:35 AM (GMT)
Darn, hit the wrong key on my keyboard and it posted the poll before I had finished writing. I can't seem to go back and edit the title anymore either.
Upper 90 - May 11, 2006 02:19 AM (GMT)
I could have used 7 votes for that poll!!! Every sport is at the top of the list!

I don't see any way to allow for more than one vote per person.
Upper 90 - May 11, 2006 02:28 AM (GMT)
I tried voting three times but I think it only took my first vote.

I'm highly upset that Baseball (the pasttime of America) is not being well represented. Table Tennis is great, but a favorite? I feel this poll needs to be explained more.
In good fun,
Ryan
Andy S. - May 11, 2006 11:49 PM (GMT)
Well, baseball is our national pasttime, but it never seemed as popular as some of the other sports. Table tennis is listed there because some of us, (like me) seem to play it almost constantly at camp.
Upper 90 - May 13, 2006 02:02 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Andy really likes the Table Tennis. It is near the top of my most favorite sports also! (all of them are - really)
Andy is looking for his first win at this coming camp! Go Andy!

Against you and Alex I am! You're the only two I've ever lost to at camp.

After I posted it, I realized I stated it wrong. Sorry about that! You have won a bunch of games against others!

Ah, well, that changed this year. I also lost to Ian, Micah, and Zach this year. (Micah and Zach are pretty good.)
I really like playing table tennis at camp.
Upper 90 - July 30, 2006 12:44 AM (GMT)
Yeah Andy you could have beat Ian. You were just taking it easy! I did not see the Micah and Zach games though.

I really can't decide between Ultimate Frisbee, Football, and Soccer. 90, by the way I haven't forgiven you for playing easy against me in PING-PONG (That's what I call it)

All the sports you listed are pretty good. All except soccer (sorry Joseph). Oh, and I TABLE TENNIS is a sport. Ping-pong is not. :P
architectofschoenstatt - August 8, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
I really don't know what is wrong with Soccer. I have the idea that it is pretty much the same as Basketball with your feet. It has of course some different rules like goal kicks and such.
Nate
P.S. Maybe you should look Ping pong up in the dictionary it will probably say See Table Tennis
Andy S. - August 8, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
Well, I'm not all that good at playing soccer. That's probably where my dislike of the sport comes from.
BTW, I was pulling your leg about ping-pong. The :P symbol usually indicates such. ;)

Well of course I was just giving you a hard time.
Nate
P.S. Soccer is like basketball because it's almost constant motion and mostly passing and dribbling until you get to the goal.

Maybe you should take up Soccer. then your feet might become pretty coordinated. :P
I think soccer is fun for that very reason. It is more of a challenge.

Turns were in high demand weren't they Andy? Also in regard to Nate's comment on Soccer being like basketball:NO WAY!
P.S.-I do like Soccer.

I only meant that It is similar. It is played in much the same general way except a basketball court is smaller so it's easier to get points.
Yeah I know you like soccer, but I like it better and can still beat you 8-0.
puertorican shcoenstattier - October 24, 2006 02:23 AM (GMT)
Get ready for me next year Nate. You're going down Zidane!
pvergiliusmaro - October 24, 2006 04:14 PM (GMT)
But in basketball you generally get 2, or even 3, points per "goal."
puertorican shcoenstattier - October 24, 2006 09:33 PM (GMT)
There are also 4 point plays like if you make a 3 point shot while being fouled.

It is also easier to defend a smaller court. So the challenge is ballenced. Also, in soccer, you are launching the ball at a goal which is much larger than the small rim in a basketball game. I don't know, 12 ft. wide maybe? That is compared to the basketball hoop which is somewhere around a foot wide and is 10 ft off the ground to top it all off. If it is easier to score in basketball, it is not much, and it is not for the reason you stated. The explanation lies in what part of the body that you use to handle the ball. In basketball, you use your hands, which are generally more coordinated and usefull than your feet. Also, they are closer to your eyes, so you need not use instictive shooting skills to aim and shoot. In soocer, you use your feet which are not in a convenient part of your body, are somewhat clumsy in comparison to your hands, and they don't have fingers. ;) You can't look at the goal and the ball at the same time in soccer. In basketball, you can do so.
Actually, why does it matter how easy it is to score points? As long as it is just as easy for your opponents to score, the challenge is ballenced. Soccer, my friend, is not more of a challenge.
puertorican shcoenstattier - October 25, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
As long as one has fun in both sports, that's what matters.

It is more of a stamina challenge I think. Maybe?
Any way I like the challenge of using your feet and that is definitely more of a challenge. I like soccer better don't ask me why.
puertorican shcoenstattier - October 25, 2006 11:45 PM (GMT)
Nate you're right. Soccer is a stamina challenge. One gets tired after 30 min.
