Hey everyone,

Does anyone remember logging into this forum on a minimum of a daily basis? Does anyone remember when this forum actually had life? I do.

For the past few weeks, I have been thinking of the forum in general. We had many great conversations on here, some serious, and some not so serious. Regardless, we stayed connected. Sadly, we thought we needed to eliminate the not so seriousness of the forum. We thought by reducing the "silly" conversations we could focus strictly on issues that were not in Randimosity.

What has happened since? Well, just look around. When was the last new post on here, besides mine? It seems that in our efforts to eliminate the "silly" conversations, we also eliminated all discussions on the forum.

I know that was not the intent, but it happened. We can try and convince ourselves that the reason the forum is dead is because we, quite frankly, don't have time anymore, but does anyone actually believe this?

I said in my description that this problem can be fixed, so I propose some adjustments by us and the moderators.

First, why did we hide or delete the conversations in Randimosity? We can't pretend that they never happened. I propose bringing these conversations back so people can at least re-read them. Plus, if anyone new joins, they will have much more to look at than what is currently on here.

Second, please eliminate the "All-Moderators" section. This seems rather pointless since everyone is a moderator and can edit everyone's posts without their knowledge.

Finally, we need to start having discussions on here again. Serious or not, this forum should be flourishing as it once was during the reign of the Tyrant. We need to stay connected as was the intent of this forum.

In summary, More seriousness+Less fun=A dead forum. A balance of seriousness+a balance of fun=A flourishing forum!

Exactly Matt. I don't really have time right now... literally, but all those ideas are good. Why don't we just bring the tyrant back? re-start the whole thing and make it less radical. appoint a new leader. It should be fun, and "ok" to be on the forum. I also agree with the silly converse, I come on here maybe every third day, but there is rarely a new post, so I have nothin to say to myself! :D let's do this guys, come on and get back on here and start messeging again!

You guys are pretty funny. Matt I agree. I of course gave up my position as Tyrant long ago. However, John, it really wasn't that radical. It was just fun. And it made for some interesting conversations outside the Forum too.

It's amazing how these things continually come up. It seems like a human tendency to fix a problem by oversteering.

no one's been in Randomosity. It's still there, it's just someone's job to do something to build a new story. *hintJohnhint*

Or, Libera, you could do it. Weren't you supposed to be the heir to the tyranny?

I think the problem is that everyone's afraid to go to randomosity for fear of getting their brains bashed out by all the scary "Don't waist my oh so precious time" people...

don't worry people, you have nothing to be afraid of... Tommy's here to protect you... ;) no one wants your heads for lunch...

and no libera, I have no idea what you're talking about...

Tommy your freaking me out!!! :o :o :o :( I think getting life insurance from some "evil" insurance company is a better idea, than having you attempt to protect me from a non-existent threat. :P

That is interesting what you say, Matt. Lets take a look at what exactly happened with the forum before it 'died.' Over the past few years, activity of this forum has shifted away from a good balance between fun and seriousness. By 'balance' I don't mean a 50-50 split of posts. We went from having that 'balance' to having basically only 'fun.' Why? Your guess is as good as mine. It now appears to me that the reason why this balance shifted is because we began using other means to communicate--e-mail, etc--or we just communicated less than groups in the past. This shift could very well have been the result of the non-serious conversations that started to take over the forum.

So, the lack of activity on the forum may be the result of communications taking place elsewhere, not because the tyrant topics were ended. The way I see it, because of all the tyrant topics the other parts of the forum also received some use. Use that resulted not because the forum was needed, but because it was handy--I am already here posting in the tyrant topics.

So, who has time to be a tyrant? I don't think Nate does right now... or maybe this is how the RPG went... we really need to get new people back on here as well.
