Hey guys,
As I remember some years ago, the idea of a Schoenstatt Boys Basement (SBB) was born at a small meeting that took place there on one dreary evening. As you can see, one thing led to another and soon the SBB idea swept through the Schoenstatt Boys Youth and University Men's Branch like fire. We were all contributing needs to the SBB, both materialistic and spiritual. Not only that, we had great plans and ideas in mind. Everything seemed to be going well and nothing was lacking. The SBB was in high demand and was being used constantly. Well, looking forward years later all the way to today, many projects once started have been left unfinished or never started. The SBB is still in need of improvements and can use some additional safety items to bring it up to code. Also, it seems to be neglected now while it just sits there waiting for some life from us. Maybe it is time to start praying and thinking about what are some of the things we can do for the SBB. Overall, the SBB was and still is a big project in need of modifications and improvements that requires time, perseverance, and dedication. So obviously, we cannot just jump in and expect instant results in the SBB. The best way to obtain desired results in the SBB would be to go through a process. An example would look something like this: 1. Pray and offer contributions to the Capital of Grace for guidance regarding the SBB 2. Rekindle interest amongst the boys and college guys about the SBB 3. Take the next step of action trusting in God's will and holding our Mother hands 4. Evaluate where we stand (i.e. What is God telling us? Are we ready? Or do we need to wait longer before proceeding?) 5. Take on the first task and take it on from there (whatever the will of God is then) and so on.... So hopefully this new topic will start something rolling here! Let's set our hearts afire again and do great things for our Mother and Jesus whether the tasks be small or big! God bless you all! Riding the Marian Way(v), -Daniel J. Hi Daniel, all,
I was recently able to go to the SBB and thought it looked amazing. Much better than I had pictured it. Consequenly, I think Daniel's biggest point is that the SBB isn't used as often as it should be. Why? I recently had a converstation with one of the Wisconsiners and he mentioned to me that the Boys groups were shrinking in Wisconsin. I thought: WHAT! Daniel's point number two: "Rekindle interest amongst the boys and college guys about the SBB," can only be realized if we have a rejuvination of our group life from within. Perhaps that is three, four and five. I am talking about not only revival and renewal, new ideas and plans, in existing groups, but also new members and new groups. How? I think we should all try to read a biography on Joseph Engling this summer and then talk about it, possible even at the High School camp if we can all finish it by then. I am not talking about a book club, I am talking about learning more about the original formatt of Schoenstatt groups and how their group life grew and thrived. We all need to become Joesph Englings and perfect the quiet apostolate. You are probably all thinking: " Paul, I have tried all that. No one joins." GUYS THIS IS POSSIBLE! Read the book and I am sure you will be inspired. We can talk strategy at the High School Camp. May our Lady assist us in our endeaver! God Bless, Paul -------------------- Nothing without you MTA, nothing without us!

Paul,
Thank you so much for responding and giving your thoughts! I am so glad at least someone responded to this. Your response is at least the start of something now. FYI, the SUM started using the SBB in March after I had made the first post. We have used it a few times now for various events. It has been great for us and for getting something going with the SBB. Keep in touch! -Daniel :) -------------------- "Renewing the Covenant--Reviving the Community!"
